Also keep getting these weird "life coach" PMs as if I am broken and need counseling. Not sure what that is about.

You can place the member on ignore via their profile and messages will be blocked or you can simply tell them that you do not want them to PM you anymore, and if they continue, notify a moderator that they are harassing you. The mods will handle it from there.

Not what ya really need at this point.
Good Luck and congrats.

Looks like you finally got the water out of your boat and are getting started.

My wife is a member of a number of networking groups, so if you do need a life coach, I'm sure she has a phone number of one or two. I'm not sure what a life coach does...

They follow you around where ever you go and shout, "Go Hoosier. You can do it. You're Awesome."

Wow, Life Coaching in here and sending out PM's? That is way NOT cool. I would never have wanted someone to do that to me. I'm glad to hear you are having a better go at it this time around with the e-cigs, Hunters Friend. I think my biggest hang up at first was that it took me a couple of months to find really good flavors that I really enjoyed alot, which made me not miss smoking an analog. But it takes time and hopefully you will find the right flavors for yourself also.

Wow Mike, I really feel for you. I smoked between 1.5/3 PAD marlboros for 33 years. I tried everything before vaping and the longest I ever went was about 2 weeks. Even when the first time I tried ecigs a couple years ago, it didn't take. This time, seems to have worked. The thing that got me through the tough times was dripping. It was the closest to my smoking ritual when I had a really bad craving (hard hitting, for about the same amount of time it took to for a smoke and then put away till the next craving). You might not want to think of it as an all or nothing game. You'd still be doing better to use vaping to cut back.

I agree. When the analog crave hits I direct drip my favorite 36mg tobacco flavor. 3 drops last about as long as an analog, the direct drip delivers voluminous vapor, and the nic delivery is a bit quicker. I decided that I wanted the flavor of vaping over the feeling of smoking.

Any time at all you spend vaping is time you are not smoking; you're doing great. Don't give up your quest to find the correct delivery method, e-liquid flavor and strength, and PV. Vaping is as varied as the vaper. One day you'll get the right combo and analogs will be history!

(P.S. I smoked 2.5 pad of Marlboro 100's up until I started vaping)

Hi Hunters. Whichever ratio you use of PG and/or VG you're on the right track of needing to drink a lotta water. You might also want to check into WTA vendors whose juice has "whole tobacco alkaloids". I've had some modicum of, and others even more, success, using WTA juices to help reduce those "other additives that smoking provides" cravings. You're doing so well though, I will more than likely be asking you how do I get off that last 5 or so in a month or so!:) Some of the tobacco absolute Ive found is pretty decent too, specially the cigar flavors. While I have been known to try a small one now and then, I'm no aficionado, but have found the "cigar flavor" has some of the earthy flavors of "smoking" that I haven't necessarily found in many "tobacco flavored" (and obviously) non tobacco flavored juice. All the best!

So here I am now - a week into the experiment and things are "good".

Always like to start with the positives so let's head there.

The eGo twist is absolutely fantastic. I cannot give it enough high marks in it's ability to adjust to my preferences. As I have the 1000 mAh models, they are a tad big - but otherwise no hassle at all.

The Heathers juices are fine. Of the 5 flavors I picked up, I can't really pinpoint one that I would declare best. What they are doing at 36mg is keeping me from going batcrap crazy. Even better, I have zero of the awful aftertaste I experienced from before. Could be because of the eGO or the eJuices. Who knows... all I know is that is a pleasant feature for sure.

Some cons - a design flaw in my opinion is the lack of a simple LED light that lets the user know if they are getting close to the end of the battery cycle would have been nice. Bit of a hassle to be vaping and have the thing peter out right there on you.

The 70/30 mix (70 being the VG) is not something I care for. I guess I am allergic to PG as it leaves the back of my throat really dry. I constantly need something nearby to wash down the dryness. So, if nothing else - this journey has taught me the important lesson of learning. Especially in regards to the acronyms and vernacular that is tossed around so freely here. Never had a clue about the PG or VG and what the significance was of either of them.

Latest trick I had to force upon myself was to sit my Marlboros off in another room. I was becoming way too casual and comfortable with saying to myself "Well, the people over at ECF said "If I wanted a cigarette to go ahead and smoke it and then get back to vaping." That sounds good in practice but in reality I was abusing it like a pinata at a Cinco De Mayo party.

Still smoke the analogs when I can no longer hang with the vaping, but now I have to make myself get up and walk into another room to grab a cigarette. Later on, I will put them out in my car making it more difficult. Eventually, maybe leave the pack at home so I have to drive the mile or so to grab one. (Man, that will be some kind of day...)

Also keep getting these weird "life coach" PMs as if I am broken and need counseling. Not sure what that is about.

Overall, things are good. ;)

Here's something else that is pretty good (since I laid everything else bare in an earlier post)

I noticed for the first time in a loooooooonnnnnnnnnngggggggg time (Years probably) that I didn't go to bed with my pulse POUNDING in my ears. Literally, there was nothing.

Because of my getting gassed, lumbering around, looking and feeling like crap all day long and finishing an otherwise crappy day off with one final Marlboro - I would always hit the bed with BaBUM BaBUM BaBUM BaBUM BaBUM in my ears. I knew my heart was pounding from struggling to carry the oxygen, weight etc. with it and resigned myself to accepting it.

Last night, I worked over the eCig pretty well. Then at 10 or so when it was time to hang it up for the evening - I simply went to bed.

No BaBUM, no babum, no nothing... Just an easy feeling with a slight gnawing sensation for a cigarette.

Blew it off and was out for the night. Now that was pretty cool.

Hey Hunter....well first congrats on keep the faith!!! It will happen for you!! I think as many other posters have said you're not going to find anything that tastes/feels "just like" TCs. Actually you don't want anything that tastes like them...you might not realize it but Marlboros are icky (I smoked em too 1 1/2 PAD). You will/have probably received tons of advice on what try so I'm just here to give you some support and to welcome you back to the vaping world!!

As a side note, I don't think its only the nic that you are addicted to, there is other stuff in there that you may be craving which is why it doesn't seem like the juice is enough. I found that even though I knew my PV tasted, smelled and was better for me all around...I still wanted TCs. My PV wasn't "magic." But at least its something you can work through and easier to kick than the nic!

Just my 2 cents....Good Luck to ya!!

Thanks, the faith is easy to keep with this group. They have a lot more faith in me than I in myself.

But, have to say - without the advice received here - I am certain I would have failed again. Especially on the eGo twist. Quite frankly my wife was a little miffed that I bought something ahhhhh-gain... :p

(Almost feel like Tim the Tool Time Man - No no really honey, this is really going to do the trick!)

In the end she capitulated and said the same things as before - if it helps she is all for it. Learning about all the other gizmos and jargon helps too.

Thanks for the shout out.

So here I am now - a week into the experiment and things are "good".

...

Right on Hunter... Sounds like you seeing Immediate benefits from not Smoking Analogs.

You're doing go so Keep it Up.

I wanted to say though that Quitting Smoking is Kinda like landing a Big Fish in a Boat. It seems that in the beginning it can be a Struggle and the Fish will fight you. But if you stay with it, you will tire him out and begin to take in line. Sometimes people will get excited and think that it's over. Only to have the Fish see the Boat and put up another Fight and Break the Line.

This is how Quitting can be. The first week can be a Struggle to Break the Physical Addiction to all the Chemicals that are in Analogs. After that there can be a period of Feeling that you have Won. Only to go thru a Period of Sometimes Intense Mental Cravings. This is when Most people Fall Off.

So get ready for it Now by stocking up on your e-Cigarette Hardware and get at least a 30 Day Supply of e-Liquid on hand. The last thing you want is to run out of e-Liquid or run into a Bad Batch of Cartos.

You can make it. Were all behind you.

BTW - A Good technique is to buy a 5 Pack of Cartos/Attys/Whatever and when hey arrive, Try one of them. If it they seem to work fine and have no Problems, Buy Another Pack. Put the remaining 4 Cartos away.

Many times when there is a Problem with the Manufacture of Cartos/Atty's/whatever, en entire Batch is Bad. It can be devistating to get down to your Last 5 Pack of Cartos/Atty's/Whatever only to find that they are part of that Bad Batch and they are All Bad.

Keep trying, Hunter. There is hope!

What worked for me more than anything was juice I could taste. Some vendors offer extra flavoring - do it! 30mg Maxxblend from Freedom Smoke USA with extra flavoring was finally the ticket for me!

1.5 to 2+ PAD for 36 years. I was going to quit as a birthday present to myself at the big 5 Oh. I had done cold turkey once and knew I couldn't do it again. Read the forums here a year ago and started with the 510-T kit, bought more tanks, attys and batteries and juice from several vendors - didn't want to run out.

To this day, I have only purchased tobacco flavors. Juice was mostly non-descript (plastic tasting)and the only real "flavor" seemed to be when the tank was running dry, but before the burnt taste. Throat hit often made me cough - scratchy throat - so I was coughing more from vaping than from smoking - could not vape first thing in the morning. Something was missing, this just wasn't cutting it for me. My juices were all a mix, usually 70/30 pg/vg, played a little with different mixes and settled on that. Not knowing what I was doing, all of my juice was 12 or 18mg. Vaped and smoked for about 3 months then quit vaping.

Well, I knew my next best chance was coming up in June - housesitting in the mountains for a month. To prepare, I ordered larger quantities of a couple of my favorite juices with extra flavor and more nicotine. I didn't stock up on the cigs, just took what I had left - a little over a carton. I was allowed to vape inside the house, but not smoke, so I was doing both until my last pack of cigs. Oh my, the juice tasted delicious - something I could actually taste and enjoy. I milked my last pack down to 5 a day, then 2, then 1. I almost ran out to buy some a couple of times, but did not. For myself, I knew that if I bought them, I would smoke them - every single one. I did bum a few while getting together with friends a couple of times since. Last time was about 3 weeks ago, I took a couple of hits and it was NASTY. Smoking is DONE!

By the way, I don't believe I had any withdrawal symptoms other than I periodically want a REAL cigarette. My breathing was awesome and smokers cough was gone in just a few days of all vaping! Somewhere in there, my throat stopped being irritated by vaping.

While I don't mind changing batteries (digital cameras broke me in on that), I need a bigger tank - 14+ tanks a day is definitely a lot of work ( I figured out how to take full tanks with me). ECF to the rescue again! I received some CE3 Clearomizers earlier this week and I never knew juice could taste this good! I also bought a couple of the CE4+ "Stardust" Clearomizers and a couple of the Ego 650 mah batteries (already had one as a pass-through). CE3's on my 510 batteries taste better to me than stardust's on the Ego's.

Because I have so many 510 batteries - (by the way, the 510 batteries last 3-4 times longer with the clearo's than they did with the atty's and tanks!), I was and still am looking for larger tank solutions that will work with my 510 batteries.

Happily, I am now vaping about 6 clearo's a day and the 510 long batteries will easily outlast a clearo.

Anybody know how well a Viva Nova works on 510 batteries?

Are you sure you are not confusing cartridges or cartos with tanks? Tanks hold MORE than CE3's.

CE3's on my 510 batteries taste better to me than stardust's on the Ego's.
I am really confused about eGO threading. They have 510's, and they seem to have something eGo-only? They are certainly not 808!

Because I have so many 510 batteries - (by the way, the 510 batteries last 3-4 times longer with the clearo's than they did with the atty's and tanks!)
510 is a type of threading, the interface. Mini-batteries (cigarette-sized) come in 510 and 808 both. Big batteries come in those two + ego (I guess) + some more kinds. Most people call the cigarette-sized batteries "minis" so you probably have a half-zillion 510 minis.

I was and still am looking for larger tank solutions that will work with my 510 batteries.
If your smaller 510's are automatic, I'm finding it difficult to make some of the bigger things work on automatics because they are really designed to work with buttons. (I have big and small autos and manuals i.e. button-controlled) -- but my roommate is happily using a mini-ViVi Nova from GotVapes on a little 510 automatic. She loves it.

Anybody know how well a Viva Nova works on 510 batteries?
Well, the vapor is better on a bigger battery but the ViVi Novas are threaded 510, and like I said, my roommate likes that combo.

Yesterday I received in my tobacco mixes from Heathers along with the eCig kit.

Jumped right in it the first thing this morning and have to say, the advice so far has been spot on. Will go through this first sample 0PG 100 VG Dark Horse 36 mg, half power on the eGo and see where it takes me.

I would be immensely grateful if this finally brings me home.
Definitely LOVE the twist so far. Absolutely no complaints there.

I am trying to temper my enthusiasm as I worry I will set myself up for a big letdown.

OTOH, this appears to be much of what I lacked from all the other attempts so I can say that I look forward to making this happen.
Heh heh heh heh....

I just sat down here at the laptop again and instinctively went to reach and grab my smokes.

Then it hit me to go for the vape.

COOL - this may have legs after all. ;)

OMG, HF, I'm legit crying right now; it's so awesome that you've found vaping so much more helpful this time! I'm so pleased you've found something that's working! :)

In regards to tobacco-flavored juice, I recommend trying the Vapestein Blends from Donley at want2vape Premium USA E Liquid

I had difficulty the first time I went on the vape, but finally got into it by vaping Red Pirate flavored juice from W2V; it's made from a chewing tobacco (which sounds kinda gross, but is really good!), so I dunno if maybe it has a few other "goodies" in it compared to "just nicotine", but it finally got me off the cigs. I did switch to his Belgian Breakfast (waffles, butter & maple syrup - made my ex-husband's car smell of maple syrup, which is far better than stale cigarette smoke! ;)) & I'm not a fan of tobacco flavors anymore. But I hear EXCELLENT things about W2V's Vapestein Blends, and they're all made from various tobaccos. QUITE good, I've heard from those who enjoy tobacco flavors! I would recommend getting some samples of non-tobacco flavors too, just to see what you think.

And as your tastebuds come back, you may find you no longer like things you liked previously. Heh.

I vaped 36mg for a long while, and sometimes even boosted that! I had a small bottle of unflavored 56mg nicotine juice & I'd add a drop or two of it to my atty if I was having a particularly rough time of it. Oh, BTW - I'm a recovering addict. I *did* quit "the worst drug of all, & doing it in the worst way possible!" (as my mother said) and still had a hard as heck time quitting cigarettes! I still crave them a bit, but if I ever let myself have one, it just tastes ... GROSS now. I'm seriously considering the WTA (whole tobacco alkaloids); I love my vaping, but if I could make it that much more satisfying, that'd be great!

I just liked smoking, period. I, however, HATED the smell of smoke, my clothes stinking, never being able to wash the smell off my hands, the yellow nails...but I LOVED inhaling, exhaling, seeing that cloud, the feeling in your chest when you inhale, etc. Visualizing the smoke is a big part of smoking - I read somewhere that blind people tend not to smoke (unless they smoked prior to becoming blind) & that makes sense. This is also why smoking's not satisfying outside if it's raining, snowing, wicked windy, too bright. It's not really about nicotine - that we can kick pretty easy!

I like vaping, I do it a LOT. And I vape just about everywhere, just to bring more attention to it. Heh. Nicotine levels aren't WICKED important to me anymore; most of my juices are between 12-18mg/mL nowadays. When I was still at 24mg, I'd occasionally get nic-sick, because I vape so much! haha!

I also love my Twist battery! I can't wait to get more! Oh, and if you get an eGo-C battery that's NOT a Twist, it does have an indicator to let you know if it's getting low. It seems like the indicator works by detecting if the voltage is getting lower...and since you have control of the voltage with a Twist, the indicator thingy wouldn't work. I just always have a battery charged & ready to go. With the 1000mAh batteries, I just have two in rotation & I'm good. The eGo batteries charge fairly quickly, so it hasn't really been an issue for me. It was a HUGE problem when I was just using my 510, though!

Oh, and if you have any 510 accessories, they'll all work on your eGo as well. If you don't like any of them, you could always jump on the PiF threads (Pay it Forward) & see if anyone's offering something you'd like to try, and then offer up some of your old stuff in return! :)

My current setup is various eGo batteries (Twist being my favorite), with CE3/Phoenix clearomizers. They're bottom-coil & I feel the flavor is AWESOME. You have to fill them with a syringe, though. BUT...you could fill a few before you go out & just toss 'em in your pocket, ready to switch out if needed. I also like the CE4+/eGo Visions/Stardusts, but they can run a bit "hot" for me. They're top-coil & the vapor doesn't travel much between the atomizer & your mouth & sometimes that's too much for me. But they're a cinch to fill on the go if you need to! I recommend trying both. :) Clearos just have a bit of wick, no cotton/filler stuff, so I feel they're truer to the flavor of the juice. You can even get fancy if you want and rewick them with cotton - some people say they get even better flavor that way!

Vaping becomes a hobby unto its own, if you want it to be! *grin* Of course, it doesn't have to be, either - you can pick a setup & a juice & be perfectly fine & content with that!

I've been fulltime vaping again for about 3 months, and was at 0-5 cigs a day (& vaping the rest of the time) for the 5 months before that. I was a 1.5 PaD smoker prior to that. I'm enjoying vaping significantly this time around. And now that my dad just had surgery to remove a bunch of cancer in his lungs & is on chemo for it currently, I'm even more motivated - he's only 52, ffs! *bites nails* That makes me nervous, because I've started having more & more difficulty breathing, esp when exerting myself, but even just when walking down the street! The breathing issues have gotten significantly better since moving to the vape fulltime; they were better when I seriously cut back, but got much much much MUCH better when I quit. Ugh, so did my sense of smell - which isn't always a good thing! (cat litter box changing time? *gag*) hahaha! ;)

Congrats, and good luck - I hope you find your magic sweet spot soon!! :)

So therein lies my first problem I guess. When people tell me that cigarettes taste awful I look in wonderment at them because I genuinely love the taste and smell of cigarettes. That alone spooks me because I am reacting to cigarettes like I should.

Literally name it - I have bought it. Joye 510, eGo-T, SmokeFree, etc. Again on the nicotine juices - I literally have lost count. Wouldn't even know where to start. I have probably bought 100 different types and strengths. Like I said, it comes across to me like boiling plastic when I vape. If it is too strong, I REALLY cough (as if I have a miniwheat stuck in my esophagus) If it is too weak I get the shakes terrible. Hence my one shot at trying to wear nicotine patches in conjunction with vaping. (Stuck out there too)

A Joy 510 huh, what about a decent Mod, or even an Ego Twist that has VV ? Maybe your not getting enough delivery using the Joy 510 or any of those small stick type Batts. Most of us where able to stop with the small stick batt but being a heavy smoker maybe you need more then just 3.7v and need to kick it up a notch into the mid 4v to 5v and with a good Atty like an HH-357 or Iken i06, just a thought.

Hunter -

I just skimmed this thread, but I'm thinking you got a Twist. I hope so. IMO, variable voltage is unbeatable for maximizing the pleasure of the vape.

And I firmly believe that with the right equipment and juice, you'll be able to get so much enjoyment out of vaping that you will no longer crave something that tastes and smells like a cigarette; there are so many better tastes and flavors out there that it's not even funny. "Ashtray" is not high on my list of flavors.

This is a cut-and-paste of my responses in this thread from tonight:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/320973-first-post-thanks-all-posters.html

Short answer: please get three 650mah Joyetech eGo-C Twists, two Joyetech chargers, five Vivi Nova tank/atomizers, and at least five flavors of juice.

The Twists are about $22 each, the chargers are about $13 each, and the Vivi Novas are also about $13 each.

If you get 30ml (one ounce) of five flavors that will last you about 20-30 days. Heavy vaping is about 6-8ml a day. 12mg strength should be enough to take care of any cravings, but 18ml might be even better. Nicotine does raise your blood pressure and heart rate, so it's best IMO not to ingest any more than you currently are by smoking cigarettes, but do whatever you need to to get off of the cancer sticks, and worry about cutting down on your nic levels after you're out of the deadly clutches of the cancer sticks.

Please remember one thing; vaping is flat-out more enjoyable than ciggies. Please just start, and don't look back.

Joyetech eGo-C Twist: Joye eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 650mAh Battery

*****

Please do not "get a good kit". Most "good kits" will be constant voltage. Variable voltage is indisputably superior to constant voltage.

The Joyetch eGo-C Twist has a dial on the bottom that lets you adjust the voltage between 3.2 and 4.8 volts. That allows you to control the amount of watts produced by/within the coil. It is as easy to use as a dimmer switch. It can be taught is three seconds. For more heat to the coil, turn the knob clockwise. For less heat to the coil, turn it counter-clockwise. I do not understand why so many people give beginners so little credit concerning basic intelligence.

The Vivi Nova tank/atomizer is insanely easy to use and performs very, very well. Unscrew the top, fill it with juice to the "Full" mark, and vape.

***

How to change out your Vivi Nova tank - YouTube Vivi Nova tank - Filling, changing heads 1:38

The soothing background guitar music tells you it's simple.

I have been vaping for almost a year, and have bought LOTS of stuff. Joytech eGo-T (constant voltage) tank system, Joyetch eGo-C (Constant voltage) tank system, Smoktech Woo 5-volt battery, e_power (constant voltage) battery), Smoktech VMax variable voltage APV (awesome, $100), Joyetech 18650 (constant voltage) APV, and others.

Right now, I am vaping on a Joyetch eGo-C Twist (variable voltage) APV with a Vivi Nova 3.5 ml tank/atomizer. Anyone with a functioning brain can operate this equipment, and I cannot recommend it highly enough as an excellent starting point to use while you explore other options. As for me, I just plain like it, and my VMax sits largely ignored and unused, awesome as it is.

GotVapes VISION ViVi NOVA™ 3.5ml V2.5 REBUILDABLE TANK [gv-VIVINOVA-TANKV2.5] - $13.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more GotVapes - Vivi Nova tank - $13.95

The Vivi Nova video mentions that it comes with three "heads" - the actual atomizer that is fed with wicks. The heads come in three different "resistances" - amounts of "ohms".

The higher the ohms, the more volts are required to achieve a given amount of heat, measured in watts. With a variable voltage device, you can adjust the voltage to achieve any desired heat using any of the three heads. You CANNOT do that with a constant voltage device.

The Joyetech eGo-C Twist is indeed a game changer, allowing anyone to have variable voltage for a much lower cost of entry than ever before.

*****

Variable voltage lets you be Goldilocks. She wanted her porridge just the right temperature. To get a variety of resistances of coils to just the right temperature, you need to be able to control the amount of volts that your device is delivering to it (please use only single coil cartomizers or atomizers unless you have a compelling reason to use two or more coils - you'll save battery power, and IMO get a better vape to boot). Different juices also want different amounts of heat, and there are variations among "nominal" resistances of any given device that variable voltage will allow you to compensate for.

This can all be demonstrated by a very simple formula that is part of "Ohm's Law":

Volts time volts divided by resistance (rated in "ohms") = watts (heat) at/in the coil.

Consider the three heads in the Vivi Nova; 1.8, 2.4, and 2.8 ohms:

With a Joyetech eGo-C Twist, or any other variable voltage device, you can achieve any wattage you need to get a good vape, even if the "actual" resistance of the "heads" varies from the "nominal" resistance of the heads, which it almost always does.

I'd say that most people vape at between 4 and 8 watts per coil. Let's see how 6 watts can be produced with a Joyetech eGo-C Twist (or any other variable voltage device) with any of those three atomizer heads.

3.28 volts x 3.28 volts / 1.8 ohms = 6 watts

3.79 volts x 3.79 volts / 2.4 ohms = 6 watts

4.09 volts x 4.09 volts / 2.8 ohms = 6 watts

A constant voltage device obviously cannot do this, so please do not buy one under any circumstances.
