Normally don't recommend the dry herb vaporziers, but it might do the trick for you (if you have access to loose tobacco).

I've had the same issue as you, been switching from analogs to e-cigs for the last few years.

Ended up switching to Snus/WTA and I'm doing better.

My buddy only had luck with the Ploom (though I hate it) which led him to herbal vaporizers (with tobacco).

He seems to be doing okay with that, I just don't want the hassle of carrying something a cop might label paraphernalia (heck get enough problems with a regular e-cig).

I definitely get something else from his setup than my own (it actually feels like a morning cig) but I can get that from Snus (if I'm willing to wait for my body to absorb it).

Edit: There is a huge thread about MAOI's and other chems that are missing from e-juice that real cigs have on the forums somewhere. Might explain why some people have a problem quitting.

I feel for you! What a tough habit cigarettes are the worst addiction to kick. Heres what I did I got something I found that was close to camel that's what I smoked 29 years. But very quickly I went to flavors your not smoking so your right is not the same. But if you can hang in there in a month or so you adjust to vaping. Get it out of your head that its going to be the same as smoking. If you like PM me I will give you my phone number you can call me every time just before you light up Might help I don't mind Id be glad to answer the phone a few times if it adds a few quality years to your life!
I also made my last pack last for a week I had one in the morning and after supper when I got down to my last few it was just one a day. I wont lie it was a little difficult at first but the ecig made it bearable I cant say exactly how long but eventually I had no more cravings for cigarettes

or even adding a bit of menthol to your juices may help - it 'feels' like a cooler vape, gives a slight additional throat-hit (kind of like riding your bike, with your mouth open, in the wind, while chewing spearmint gum), and has a nice and distinct flavour. Before you knock it, I hated menthol cigarettes, so much so that I would forgo smoking altogether if the only available cigarette was a menthol. Now, my all day vape is an organic menthol - go figure?

I agree with you. I hated menthol cigarettes but I absolutely love menthol ejuice. It leaves my mouth feeling fresh and minty and seems to be a bit "harsher" on the throat in a good way.

Just wanted to let the board know I didn't fall off the planet and bolt.

Yesterday I received in my tobacco mixes from Heathers along with the eCig kit.

Jumped right in it the first thing this morning and have to say, the advice so far has been spot on. Will go through this first sample 0PG 100 VG Dark Horse 36 mg, half power on the eGo and see where it takes me.

I would be immensely grateful if this finally brings me home.

Yes, I know now. Having a Marlboro will not be failure, it will be a delay. Will keep that focused in my mind all the way through.

Also have not forgotten the convention. Am working towards that but right now I am working on another site of mine and trying to get it to go live as well. Information For Branson Missouri Shows Discounts Coupons Attractions Once I wrap that up, I will return here and get back to work on this.

Thank you all again, Mike

Nope won't be a stranger.

Definitely LOVE the twist so far. Absolutely no complaints there.

I am trying to temper my enthusiasm as I worry I will set myself up for a big letdown.

OTOH, this appears to be much of what I lacked from all the other attempts so I can say that I look forward to making this happen.

One small question for all here.

Let's assume I am able to be cigarette free for a week or two. Is there a point that it would be recommended to cut back on the nicotine, to start weaning myself away once and for all? Or is that somthing that just comes in time and I guess I will know it?

Excellent!

I know, even after a year, it always seems too good to be true, but it really is, so do the happy dance anytime you feel like it!!

Stay on what you have for a while until you've got it under your belt...then you can try stepping down in 2-4mg increments. Some people never lower their nic, and seem perfectly content.

To start - THANK YOU EVERYONE who has responded here. Like I said before I have been a member here for 3 plus years but just could never bring myself to post. Honestly, I hated to see that I couldn't do this and everyone else could. I hate hate hate that I have failed so many times with this.

I need something that I am not constantly running back and forth to fill with new drops, will last longer than an hour on a charge (would be incredible if there was a system that you just laid the battery on and it induced the charge rather than turn turn turn turn, unturn unturn unturn unturn, then re-turn re-turn re-turn re-turn)

You will NOT get this on a slim battery, you need 1000+ mah (milliamp-hours) -- there are zillions of those. If you tolerate cartomizers, I suggest a tank. I'm a newbie who has not quit yet (down to 1/2 pack from 1 1/4) and have not found a clearo that works for me all the time, though I've found several that work some of the time (work being defined as not burning and not leaking.) I have ordered a side-screw tank but have not received it yet -- I found the regular tanks to be a mild PITA to fill.

The 36mg suggestion may end up being the trick. Same as with the snus. Honestly, I would rather have nicotine poinsoning than to go through another week of how awful I feel from wheezing, coughing, and gagging. But man, the hooks are deep in me.
:

I haven't tried snus (they are on my list) but from your description you NEED one of the 5 other active ingredients in tobacco other than nicotine.

I have found that without WTA, I can vape myself into a mild case of nicotine poisoning and still feel I need a "stinky" -- yes the WTA is more expensive but I cannot do without it.

I also do not (yet) consider myself a failure because I am not trying to quit smoking yet, I am trying to START vaping. But after I started WTA, which comes in 28-nic for some flavors, I'm finding the taste of ejuice growing on me because with the WTA it brings comfort and good feelings.

Whole Tobacco Alkaloid Eliquid WTA Aroma Ejuice

If I find these flavors boring, I mix with a regular (non-WTA) flavor I like. That works.

My Dr. said the anti-anxiety alkaloid in tobacco (NOT nicotine!) is very very powerful.

So, in 4 months I'm down to 1/2 pack a day from 1 1/4 packs/day by trying to vape more (and learn to vape more-effectively, which, as another poster pointed out, means more mouth and nose time for the vapor) rather than trying to smoke less.

Good luck!

Taste is very subjective but I have to throw this in. I've been analog-free for 16 months now, after 30 years of smoking. In my 16 months of vaping, I have tried dozens of tobacco flavors and did not like any of them. To me they tasted bland and nasty. But then I tried the new Soldier's Blend from MFS. To me it tastes as "natural" as it gets.

Hang in there. We have people on this forum that smoked 50+ years and still managed to quit analogs. Good luck to you.

My advice...HELL NO. Get lower nic, but keep the higher. At night if you vape a lot, 14 might be nice. Don't worry about the level, it's likely less than you were getting.

At the end of the day, a dirty ashtray is far uglier than a nice shiney mod. Think how much better your lungs will look soon.

Yep Everybody is right on. Do NOT try to lower your nic for quite awhile. I tried that. Just though I was doing so well so I changed it. Not a good result for me.
Hey if it ain't broke don't fix it. Translation: if youre not smoking and you're vaping instead then don't change ANYTHING! Just vape on.

Tons of great advice on here. I use WTA and there is, for me, a difference. Not fireworks going off different, but a calming effect. Like aahh! Not sure if that will be the total answer but it might help. I am like you....don't hate the taste of cigarettes and love to smoke. But....that is going away. It is becoming more of a hassle to light up as opposed to pressing a button. I won't go into my set up, etc., because I am new (again) and haven't found the ever so elusive "sweet spot". But don't give up. You don't have the luxury of reading here for long periods of time, but I do and there are LOTS of people on the forum that took months and months to completely quit smoking. That gives me hope.

I came back to vaping about a month ago. I did it three years ago and was down to 2 lousy cigarettes a day. A health scare (unrelated to vaping) caused me to give up. But now there is better technology and better information. I think a huge part of my first failure was that I tried to cut down on nicotine TOO quickly. This time I am taking it slower. If I never quit, at least I am doing LESS harm than by smoking only. I can already tell a difference in my breathing! I am hoping that this time I will succeed in complete cessation. But that remains to be seen.

Good luck Mike. I hope you find the right set up. I will say one more thing. I just recently bought a vivi nova and the juice does have a much better taste....no plasticy burned taste to me.

I began at 36 mg and am now at 8 mg- next week will be down to 6 mg...just got over a terrible sore throat and prolly vaped less than 10 ml this past week and no withdrawal at all. I plan to quit vaping by Sept. BUT if not successful it's no big deal cuz as long as I'm not smoking I'm happy. Took me at least 4 months just to get analogs psychologically out of my system- every time I sat at my desk instantly looking for analogs, lighter and ashtray. Didn't have any want or need for analogs but the habit was still very strongly there. Even after I quit vaping I will still have something to satiate the hand to mouth thingy.
Cheers.

Hey don't feel so bad. I least you are still trying. I didn't have luck with the 510s that look like a regular cigarette. Instead I got one of those that has a usb passthrough Its a 3.7 volt battery with a tank carto. The local place I bought them at let me try all the flavors until I found one that tasted just like Marlboros RY4 36mg Yeah thats like smoking 5 cigarettes at the same time but hey it got me off them in a weeks time. Now I'm down to 18mg and loving many other flavors.
As far a convention goes that is a GREAT idea. This industry can sure use more exposure. Plus it will give the opportunity to try many products. GOOD luck do't stop trying.

My advise would be a Big Fat NO!

After what you have been thru, if you can get that All Important 2 Weeks under your Belt, I wouldn't change Anything for 3 months.

Sometimes all it takes is One Subtle Nudge to make a person Fall in the first 3 Months. Reducing Nicotine just might be that Nudge.

----

For me, what made quitting Cigarettess so hard wasn't so much Nicotine Addiction, it was the Addiction to all those Other Chemicals that they put in Cigarettes.

Remember, Cigarette companies don't put these Chemicals in Cigarettes because it makes the Cigarette Taste Better. And they don't do it because it is Cheaper, it's More Expensive to do so.

They put these Extra Chemicals in Cigarettes because it makes it Much Harder to Quit.

Hunter's Friend,

Didn't see anyone post the other WTA vendor URL, so here goes: http://www.vapelicious.com/

The site is down for the next 10 days but I think it's worth remembering because he offers WTA-containing liquids in different strengths and also should have straight WTA for spiking the liquids you already have. I read some reviews on one of his liquids, "Electric Cigarette", which might work well for you, maybe with medium WTA and high nicotine (too much WTA makes some folks sleepy).

I'm pretty sure you'll do okay after finding a good equipment/juice combo to suit you. Good luck!
