Hi,

I am new to the whole e-cig thing. Actually I didnt even know they excited until Saturday while walking around the mall. A vendor was there selling something51. I was quiet amazed by the whole e-cig concept and frankly frightened by the price. They wanted 150.00 for their product.

After coming home I began my research and found this forum. Thank goodness. Yall have provided so much great and extremely useful info.

I purchased my first e-cig from thesmokelessshop.com. I purchased a DSE901b and a penstyle. By the way the owner (Kate I believe) was absolutely wonderful and has excellent customer service.

Ok sorry for being long winded. But I have some questions that I have not been able to find answers for and was hoping yall could help. I am sorry they are very newbie questions and if they have been asked and answered I apologize.

1) Does the vapor exhaled have an odor?
2) I currently do not smoke in my house due to cigarette leaving the odor and the residue all over. Does e-cigs leave a residue on items? For example in my car when I clean my windows there is always yellowish nasty stuff on the towel.
3) How long does the exhaled vapor hang around or does it disapate quickly?
4) Are e-cigs really cheaper then traditional smoking? Currently I purchase a carton a week at close to 50.00.
5) Does the vapor give you bad breath and/or stain your teeth?
6) Does the flavored vapor give you that type of breath smell?

I think those are all the question I have for now.

Thank you for any information you can give me.

It does. It also seems to have an odd cooling effect. The odor isn't strong by any stretch of the imagination but it is there, and tends to smell like what you are esmoking.

Haven't seen residue at home/car/or office.

It does dissipate rather quickly. You will notice that vapor doesn't seem to be as *heavy* as tobacco smoke...

It depends on what type of user you are ... Some find it cheaper, others don't. If you could define if cheap really meant saving your life, would cost matter?

Nope, not at all.

Um.... Not really, no.

1) Yes odor for a second but it dissapears real quick.
2) No residue except the nicotine liquid might leave odd stains here and there if you drip and are messy like me.
3) Disappears a little quicker then smoke I would guess.
4)Not really. But it depends on the user. About the same I would say.
5) Doesnt stain but can coat teeth. No bad breath I dont think
6) Yes, but it quickly goes away.

These are just IMO.

Thank you Cashmere. I apprecaite you responding so quickly. And your right saving my life has no price. Although that has lead me to another question. I know vap'ing is definatley better then traditional smoking, but does anyone know the health risks of vap'ing? How safe is vap'ing?

no problem tx ...

At this point ... *Vap'ing* in general is still the great unknown. Is it safe to say ecigs are *healthier* than analogue cigs, not quite ... Only because we don't have the research and years behind us to prove anything.

I like you, feel esmoking is *generally* safer (even by just looking at chemicals/carcinogen comparisons) but will I ever tell someone its safer ... nope ... :)

Hi Tex - I'm probably going to be repeating some of what Cash has said but figured getting it from more than one source is good too. As for thesmokelessshop.com - that's KatyS, not Kate and yes, she's quite the sweetie. Now for your questions:

1) It does have an odor but it's generally the smell of whatever flavor you are e-smoking. Vanilla puts off a light vanilla scent, most of the fruits just have a slight indiscernable fruity scent. I haven't found one yet that is unpleasant and the smell doesn't last long nor does it permeate your hair, clothing, skin, etc.
2) After almost 6 weeks of e-smoking I have found no residue on my car windshield or window or any items in my room/office.
3) The vapor dissipates very quickly. It does look very much like smoke but doesn't hang around for more than a couple of seconds.
4) If you generally smoke 1 carton per week I would say that yes, you will save money. In the beginning with buying supplies and extras it will seem you are spending more but the longer you are e-smoking the cheaper it will be. At the 5 week mark I broke even with what I would have normally spent on regular cigs and what I had spent on e-cigs. I am now fairly well supplied for at least 3 more weeks with juice, atomizers, etc. So at this point I won't be spending anything in the next 2-3 weeks and at that point will have saved $60-90 based on the $30 per carton I would buy each week.
5) The vapor does not affect my breath or teeth at all. As a matter of fact I've found that the Crest whitening toothpaste really does work! I didn't think it did but once I quit regular cigs it is really whitening my teeth a lot! And I can brush my teeth in the morning and don't have to worry about it smelling like a*s by 12pm!
6) I have not noticed the vapor leaving behind any scent on my breath whatsoever.

Hope all that helps! Welcome to the forum and HAPPY vaping! :thumb:

Hi Tx,

just answering to confirm what cash and mommy already said ;)

About breath smell and odor of vapor... I'd say that it's something like vapor from boiling water, or the smell of fog (for me, boiling water and fog have a characteristic smell, and vapor from e-cigs make me remember that one), and with a light scent of the flavor you are vaping, but very light.

About "how safe is vaping"... well, you can read all the threads in this forum, talking about studies made about e-liquids. My conclusion (till now, as there are no long-term studies) is that main composition of e-liquids is safe (PG or VG)... we should only worry about flavourings that may contain any dangerous substance....

Really, I'd recommend an e-cig to any smoker, just try it ;)

My hubby is totally obvious to my vaping. I can vap away in a large room watching tv and he walks in and yeah, maybe there is a slight sweet smell, but i can tell you it isn't affending to him, and he is very sensitive to smell and isn't keen on me inhaling anything...when I showed him the ecig, he said he didn't like the concept...but he is totally against tabacco smoking and it looks too much like it. I haven't tried to educate him. I just don't vap around him, just like I didn't burn tabacco around him. I would say he is happy that he doesn't smell the residue of my sneaking a smoke anymore. He is...if anything...probably confused about the sweet smell he comes across occasionally when he has walked into a room that I just took a drag of my ecig.

All I can say is WOW. I got my e-cig Wed. Since then I have smoked an average of 5-6 traditional cigarettes a day. I am just amazed since I normally smoke 30 a day. I still have that somewhat need for the traditional cig but I think that is due to habit as well. Oh and I get to vap in the house WOOT. Granted I live in Texas so it doesnt get "cold" to someone from up north but to me its just to cold to go outside if I dont have to.

So far since Wednesday we have played with the different flavors. My better half has started making her own version of nic juice. Which quiet frankly I am slightly nervous about. Since she doesnt smoke and had quit 3 years ago I get to be the lab rat. 8-o Which she is preparing for me as I type. So if yall dont hear from me anymore you will know what happened. LOL :D
She has also already made me a USB cig.
You may notice her posts under the DYI stuff we are both sharing this id at the moment.
Ok so I got off on another long wind post again.
Thanks again to this GREAT forum and their users. They have truely helped our addiction and fascination to the e-cig life. :)
