I thought I was the only person using a fork to remove my carto caps! :)
Forks seem to be the best tool because they have the right bend and aren't sharp enough to damage the cap. Don't worry, darlasue, it took me about 2 weeks to learn how to vape a carto without sucking so hard that I got juice in my mouth (yuck...). Hang in there - you'll forget all about analogs soon!

Angled tweezers work best, and you wont warp the hole.

Another big thank you to ShannonS. One of my burnt-... atty's was soaked in juice overnight. I just hooked it up to a fresh battery and the burnt taste is gone!!! Now I will be digging out the first 6 I "killed" to see if I can resurrect those too.

Hoping to cut my cig use for the rest of the day, now that I have 2 working atty's. Wish me luck!

I'm so glad it worked for you.

If you are going to prime 6 attys, use the mildest tasting juice you have. When I get new attys, I line them up, blow them out and drip a drop or two of plain PG onto the atomizer before I store them in sealed baggies. I pull out an atty and it vapes nice. I never have to clean my attys with water or alcohol and I rarely have to replace them because I never let them get dry. I switch out my atty every night. I set it on a paper towel to drain overnight and in the morning, I drip a drop of PG into it and put it in the bag. I rotate them daily and I have 7. Plain PG is best because you won't have to worry about what flavor juice you used to prime the atty. Juice works fine if you don't have plain PG. There are other methods out there, just sharing what works for me.

LOL! Funny you should mention that because I got a pair of curved hemostats this past weekend to take the caps off of my cartos, and they work like a charm! My forks can now be retired as tools. :D

I'm not nearly as elaborate as you are, Shannon. But, I do something similar when I *do* clean an atty. After allowing it to dry out for a few hours I then add a drop or two of straight PG, then let it sit overnight. The PG mixes with the excess water (and pulls it out as a humectant is supposed to do). Then 3 or 4 drops of e-liquid and it's good to go.

It's commonplace for vapers to think that they've killed an atty by cleaning it. But, what significant difference can there really be from Vaper A to Vaper B. A soak is a soak, a rinse is a rinse and a dry out is a dry out. It's not exactly a talent from Providence, right? =) It's not how one *cleans* his/her attys, it's in the *re-start* that matters.

You probably got some of the defective atty's going around. There is a whole thread about this in the health section. I myself have 4 of them. You should contact the supplier you got them from. I think most of them know about this problem now and will probably exchange them. I myself went ahead and got a 510 to 901 adaptor and got some 901 attys because who knows when this problem will actually be fixed.

You can refill/add liquid to the cartomizers without taking the cap off. Search for the video on the 'condom method' to refill cartos. For me, it is so much easier than other methods.

I agree! For me, the easiest vaping was an eGo battery and some cartos. The battery lasts me just about all day and a just have to switch out the cartos when they start tasting odd. Here's the condom refill method, it's super-easy:
YouTube - Refill Ecig Cartos Quick and Easy (CCFM)

my only caveat is that after the carto is filled you either have to let it sit over night to soak in fully, or blow out the excess juice into a paper towel before you use it (which is a big waste of juice-which is why I learned to drip)

so watch the video, fill up a few cartos before you go to bed and in the morning you'll be good-to-go.

Good Luck!

I don't use cartos anymore, I switched to a bottom fed mod, but I'll give you a little tip that I use to use when I refilled cartos.

If you have an empty juice bottle laying around (10ML bottles work the best), you can pop off the drip top. Now you can set the carto right on the empty bottle and fill that baby as much as you want. The empty bottle will catch any extra juice that leaks out. I use to fill until it started dripping out the bottom into the empty bottle, let it sit for a awhile and put some more in until it dripped again. If you want, you can let it sit overnight or, for me, I just let it sit for about ten minutes and wiped off the threads and started vaping. Once you feel the carto is full, you can put the drop top back on and pour the excess juice back into the original bottle. Easy peasy.

yes, but the OP is having a hard time filling the cartos with the method where you pop the top off. That's why I'm recommending the easiest way to do it (even if it's not the most effective, it'll keep it simple and get her started). After she gets the hang of it, she can go back and experiment with all the methods and mods and doo-dads we have.:thumb:

All of the cartomizers I have tried just give me a very intense throat hit, way to powerful, and not enjoyable. I use the PTB method which I found to be the best, I use it with my 510 atty's and my 801 atty's.
Very simple and effective, holds juice the longest, its all I use now after experimenting with fluval and the blue foam(plug, straw method).
Use the whole tea bag, cut it until you have rectangle, roll it up not real tight, I use a coffee straw, much easier to pull out when rolled up, then fold in half, insert open end into cart, now you will want the
folded end to be level with the top of cart so you will have to trim the end of tea bag. Now the most important part, where the fold is in the tea bag at the top of cart you want to cut a V notch big enough for the
atty to fit into and what it does when cart is installed, the atty will fit into the V and actually squeeze the tea bag around the atty. Also on my 801, bacause its deep I will place a small piece of blue foam in the bottom.
All I can say is has worked great for me, its the only method I use.

Well said, except that a lot of people never let it get dry enough.
So a dry out is not a dry out if you're not actually drying it out.

I recently just had a problem I couldn't figure out for the life of me. I changed my atty, I changed my battery, I changed my liquid did not matter what I couldn't figure out where this nasty taste was coming from. Out of desperation I pulled out the wool/filling and inside was a white material of that of paper or glue??? Got it off the filler cleaned/rinsed and refilled- poof nasty taste gone.

Any chance this has happened to anyone else with something in the cart? Yikes.....Taste horrible.

Guys, start a new thread, this one isn't getting a lot of views anymore.
We are all here to help, but you need exposure to get more help.

And be as specific as you can in what you do, what you've done, and what happened when you did it.
