I have ordered & tried the njoy, Vapor4Life and DSE901 - liked none of them. Not enough smoke, nasty taste, and make me cough. I even get headaches from the DSE901. Ordered e-juices & tried following the instructions from this website - and just cannot do it right. I'm so discouraged & feel like an idiot. I get so confused with all the different brands and choices I read here .... my poor menopausal brain cannot cope :-x.
Is there an "Idiot's Guide to e-cig" out there:(? All I want is a veeeery easy to handle ecig that comes as close as possible to a cigarette (the smoke/vapor and the "throat-hit").
I was reading that some people do better with "VG". Is there a brand that has the VG already in the ecig? (At this point I gave up on trying to fill the filters myself).
Ok, I'm done with my whining - but am still hoping for your help!

Honestly, the only 2-piece e-cig that I've liked so far is the GreenSmoke version www.greensmoke.com.

It's pricey, but the batteries last a long time and the cartomisers are consistent in flavor. My personal favorite was vanilla. This was my first e-cig brand and it got me off of regular cigarettes.

You'll definately want the highest nic version of these carts since even the high carts were just barely enough to satisfy my cravings.

Ok, I will give you a realistic opinion.

I have ordered & tried the Njoy, Vapor4Life and DSE901 - liked none of them. Not enough smoke, nasty taste, and make me cough.

All the models you chose are easy-to-use and perfect starting devices for a new vaper. Most folks who begin vaping often complain of sore throat, dry mouth and coughing. This is your body's response to a new chemical concotion you are inhaling. It would not be unusual for someone to just not like vaping.

All I want is a veeeery easy to handle ecig that comes as close as possible to a cigarette (the smoke/vapor and the "throat-hit")...(At this point I gave up on trying to fill the filters myself).

You have set your expectations a bit high. An e-cig simulates the act of smoking, but it is maybe only 40% or so of the actual analog experience. The sensations of taste, throat hit, lung hit, vapor production are very different with vaping. Tobacco cigarettes are a perfect nicotine delivery system that do not require much more than a match. They have been engineered with thousands of wonderful chemical so that each one produces an expected result everytime. E-cigs, on the other hand, are fiddly things that routinely need simple maintenance and replacement of parts as they wear down.

One thing to remember as well which I do remember even though it has been a LONG time since I switched ... is that a lot of your 'nasty taste', coughing, and headaches are probably not being caused so much by your new purchases, but more likely by your body's reaction to a new lack of so many thousand chemicals you are no longer getting from regular cigarettes -

What I mean is that now you are losing the 'coating' in your mouth very slowly from the smoke and tar, which is going to dramatically alter the true flavor of any juice / cartomizer for many days / weeks until that has gone.

You'll also get headaches when you use your new e-cigs because you are going to 'over-use' them - getting lots of nicotine in the end, but none of the other harsher chemicals... therefore you'll end up with a doozy sometimes!!! woot! ;)

Also, your mileage is definitely going to vary on vapor / smoke. I am not sure what to tell you there. It took me a while to get used to it also, but now I can't stand a regular ciggie anymore so... it is tough.

You could try the greencig cartomizers on your 901 / KR808 if I am not mistaken to see if you like them before you buy the whole kit. I use them on my KR808D and believe that is the same battery type. I dig them big time. More vapor than standard cartoz and smooooooth.

Just keep talking and asking questions. It'll be ok and don't feel like an idiot. Two years+ ago I didn't even know places like this existed and I can tell you it took me 6 months or so to get it figured out!!! :D

Take care and best of luck!!!

Have you spent any time in the Vapor4Life forum in the Supporting Suppliers section? You'll find plenty of tips there and folks who are happy to help you.

Agreed :D, check the supporting suppliers sub-forum section and they will be more than happy to help with any problems you have with your current e-cig.

Vapor4Life - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

I have a Vapor King from V4L, so I'm a bit biased, but if your problem is not enough vapor, I would try getting a USB pasthrough, and/or an auto XL bat (their both b like 20 bucks). If you do this, trust me, Vapor will not be an issue. :D.

They made me cough at first too, though that may have been the bronchitis. They also make most people cough to try a drag off of mine.

I've kind of observed that it can't be hit like an analog, or you will likely cough, especially when not used to it. I tell them to take just a strong enough drag to activate the battery (if auto) and nice and slow. That usually gets them one without make them gag. :)

I checked out the Green Smoke website and it definately seems worth a try - so I ordered it in the highest dose available (I'm a heavy smoker). Very good comments on my question - I will be more patient and lower my expectations! It's just that so many people seemed to be happy with their ecig immediately and quite the analogs without hardly any problems. But I'll keep trying and experimenting - because I really have to. My smoking (40 yrs @ 2 pks/day) have taken their toll on my health. My hubby is also a heavy smoker, so my attempts to quit were a failure.
Anyway - I will keep you posted. And again - thank you for your replies. They have helped me put things in perspective .... and gave me hope that it'll work out for me eventually.

Hi, just saw the thread. Please don't be discouraged... Not all of us dropped analogs on day one. I actually tried 3 devices before the 4th one that let me step away from smoke. I think it is also nice to try different atomizers, juice flavors and strengths. Each analog you skip is a step in the right direction.

I've read many posts from people that were still having some analogs but reduced a lot by using the ecig. Some gradually step away. I quit the day I got a bigger battery mod :D

Good luck and please do be patient with yourself. You didn't start smoking 2 packs a day on day 1 ;)

Yeah, I'm very happy now with my 510. And not that the Smoking Everywhere was THAT god-awful. It was okay. But my 510 is better.

I did stop trad. cigs. on day 1. But that was the point for me. I didn't love the SE e-cig for that first weekend, but did help the urges to kill. The next step that helped was breaking in the SE. Then learning how to use it better. I think it takes at least a week to really learn how to use your e-cig, get good at dragging it to make vapor.

The next HUGE step was getting my own juice. reason one: higher nic. Reason two: tastes WWWWAAAAAYYYYYY better than the crap that is shipped with the e-cigs.

But now I have my e-cig 510. Very happy with it. And honestly (really honestly, this isn't just self-hypnosis or anything) I have no prob vaping this instead of smoking the old stuff.

The switch for me was a bit *too* easy :) But I'm sure that's not the case for everyone.

I think my biggest problem when starting to vape was I was dragging on these things like they were going out of style. Just relax and gently take a drag. Think more about it like you sitting down relaxing and gently hitting a cigarette. Don't vape it like that quick cig that you puff down when you have two minutes to sneak outside and get one in. Take it slow and try to enjoy the flavors. It really helped me when I got into that mind set. And maybe you can't quit cigarettes cold turkey. I found those few times I felt I really needed a real smoke and had one, I enjoyed vaping much better. My mind made me think cigarettes tasted and felt different than what I was getting from the ecig, but they're really about the same. :) Just be patient and don't stress.

Just to add a point that many of us forget, e-cigs are not a 'magic bullet' to smoking cessation. As with any addiction, smoking is among the most difficult habit/addiction to break. You have to really want to quit and have a support network (ECF and friends, for example).

I have been tobacco-free for over 9 months and was so three days after I started vaping. For me, the nicotine was definitely a hook, but I find that the physical act of smoking may be more important to my success. That is why I now use a 6 volt custom battery pack to give me a throat hit and vapor production more like that of an analog. Feel free to PM me with questions you prefer not to post on the forums. I have no problem helping out another forum member.

I was in the EXACT same boat as you for the first week or so. I hated every juice I tasted, wasn't happy with my Joye 510, and completely frustrated! But I got some encouragement from my new friends here, (and I was so tired of smelling like a dirty ashtray!) so I kept at it.
All of a sudden, literally, one day at work, I was "trying" to vape and it "hit" me.....8-o For me, the "learning curve" they talk about on this forum, turned out to be HOW to "drag" on an e-cig versus a analog. I had throat hit, TASTE, and vapor!!!!!! And within 2 days I had smoked my last analog! All the juice I bought that I thought I hated tasted pretty good! I did realize I needed a higher nicotine level so everything I vape now is 36mg.
Like someone else said, SLOW AND EASY !
I was the type of smoker that could smoke a 100 cig. in about 4 drags!8-o That doesn't work with an e-cig!!! It takes practice and patience, but is it ever worth it!
Don't give up and don't be too hard on yourself!:D

Really, I do feel soooo much better after reading all your comments. I guess you could call it one of those "AHA" moments - and I have a new perspective on my experience with e-cigs. Perhaps it was the human factor in your replies - not all the technical terms used so much8-o.

I will definately keep reading & posting (was about to give up before all your replies:().
For now, I am thankful and very optimistic ... :)!!
