Sorry to be blunt, but you're a prime example of pizz poor dog ownership!

There's no way that I would accommodate you with an agreed 'backyard time' arrangement!!! YOU are responsible for YOUR dog 24/7, not your neighbor @ 1 or 2/7...

Hope you have a day-um good lawyer as a B-I-L!

What are you talking about? Our neighbor has four dogs, one is very aggressive, ours is aggressive. We have a chainlink fence. When the dogs need to go out back to go the bathroom they are a handful if they take their dog out to go the same time we do. We have a system in place so that the two dogs are not out back at the same time because they will try to fight through the fence. Explain to me, please, how that is pizz poor dog ownership. I have no idea what you find so offensive.

Actually before our neighbors got this fourth dog, who is the aggressive one, we already had this arrangement. They love dogs, obviously, and understand that some dogs are aggressive with other dogs and they began turning on their back porch light to let us know they were already out back, so they started the system. They love our dog and will go out back to the fence to play with him. Iffy, you jump to conclusions without asking questions first or seeking clarification. Your post was rather impulsive and rude.

This was years ago on a Judge Judy or something similar to that show. A student living in a house had a neighbor with a dog that barked constantly at night. The woman with the dog refused to let it be an "Indoor Dog" and the student would have a hard time studying because of all the barking. The judge ruled that the dog had to be inside during hours when a noise ordinance was in affect...10pm - 6am or something along those lines. At any rate the only reason the student won was that he had video tape with dates and times of this dog just barking non stop. I think he only got $300 or something pretty small like that for pain and suffering.

I know this is not the same thing as your situation...but I'd start documenting the dog being in your yard...dates/times duration. Especially try and get video if the dog is being aggressive to anyone. I'm not a lawyer but I'm guessing it wasn't a good idea to threaten to kill someone else's dog even though I do understand you were angry. Not sure what state you live in or what the gun laws are but from where I'm from I think it would perfectly legal to shoot a dog on your property if you felt that you or your family was in immediate danger. It would probably have to bite you first though...not just barking at you.

Once you get enough evidence with video and what not...try taking him to small claims court for a pain and suffering case. As stated you probably won't get much out of it other than being a super ..... to the guy...but maybe he'll realize you mean business and will keep his dog on a leash. I'd go that route before you get your shotgun out ;)

First off, don't put words into my 'mouth' I didn't use! I take it you're offended in that I called a spade a spade. So be it...

My response was based upon the info you provided. If you can not control your dog, then you have an issue!

If you want to do an 'aggressive dog' dance with your neighbor and still be "......", have fun at da 'ball'!

Burnie, have you found a solution? Hope things are working out for you.

Well so far no dogs in my yard, and keeping my fingers crossed. I hope that his chat with animal control made him aware he was going to get fined if it happens again, only time will tell. Thanks for asking. ;)

:vapor:

I just noticed we both joined ECF in July, just 4 years apart :p
