This is all so encouraging! I love the freedom to keep my knitting out all day and celebrated my radical decrease in analogs by bringing out my spindle and buying some new roving to spin into yarn...no worries about odors because (trust me) nothing absorbs smells like wool! I still have the occasional analog but I can do that outdoors (even in the snow and cold and dark of night) because it's so rare an occurrence now. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, it's only a matter of time now and I'm content to let it happen in due course. Too many other things to do and spend my money on! Speaking of which, I can hardly wait for out next dive trip! I hadn't thought of that...no wind blowing ashes everywhere, no frustration over matches blowing out, and no worries about IF or WHERE the smoking area is! Of course, I don't think my luggage will be lightened by not packing cigarettes but no concerns over carton limits will definitely balance that!

Codex - you need to figure out a way to charge spare batteries while cycling! I know I have seen contraptions that convert that energy but don't know how it would work with a battery charger. Still, how neat would that be? Figure it out and we'd line up at your door!

This is decadent, even for me, but:

It has an option for a 1900 mah +5v "storage battery" as well... This is the perfect little unit for touring.

I don't even want one I have been vaping one month and 2 weeks and have 5 plus packs left and don't even crave one

That is fantastic! I get to 4 weeks this Thursday. I cannot say I haven't had cravings and urges, but with each passing week they are less frequent and less intense. It is becoming easier and easier with each new day.

Knowing myself, I vaped and smoked for 3 days, then made the move. I knew I needed to have no tobacco around. I would have to go buy some. I put that obstacle in front of me for good reason. I had to finish off that last carton of butts.

Codex... you are one of a kind! That is both funny and quite practical! I do wish I could do some cycling, but I have a very cranky knee. If not for that, I would ask you just exactly how you made that thing!

I can really sympathize with you NoMatches. I went a whole month without an analog. Then I would take a hit off of someone else's just to "prove to myself that vaping was better." 2 or 3 hits a week turned into an analog per week, then 3, and for the past few months I've been smoking about 2 packs a week. Nowhere near what I used to smoke, but much more than I planned to. Depression didn't help matters at all. But... I've decided that St. Patrick's day will be my last day to smoke. I've been stocking up on batts, juice and empty cartos. I even went so far as to order a second starter kit. So I will be armed and ready for any temptation.

I'm happy for those people who never smoke a cigarette after they first get their PV. Just remember for some of us, it continues to be a struggle.

Sorry the battle has been so tough. See, I know I am a lot like you. I know if I never have that first puff, I can never smoke again. If I take that first one... who knows, and I don't want to find out.

I neither envy or judge anyone who can smoke once in a great while, or have one cig a day. I know that I am not one who is able to do that, and there are many like me. There are also those that can manage it. It's a matter of knowing oner's self.

When I first got my kit, I went immediately from 2 1/2 pad yo 1/2 pad, then over the next 2weeks, I was still vaping just as much, but I was also back up too 2 pad. Knew then that one of them had to go, couldn't smoke and vape. Vaping won and I feel so much better! That was 2+ months ago. Never even think about analogs anymore

When I bought my first 510, a buddy at work was pushing the vaping thing and I thought "why not?". I had tried every other method to quit in 29 years, and nothing worked. I really wasn't looking to quit, just give me something I could use at work and not have to go outside. He put my 510 on his order (free shipping) and we got the equipment a few days later. He challenged me to go 3 days only vaping and then try an analog. I agreed, but figured no way would vaping replace my analog habit.

I was doing just fine vaping only for 3 days, and decided to give an analog a try even though I didn't feel the "need" for it. Man, it was frigging nasty! Couldn't believe how disgusting it was. Since then I have had 2 really bad "cravings" that I vaped through and I now finally feel after a little over a month I am done with analogs. I have accumulated some other hardware (eGo, atty's, juice, etc.) but I feel better than I have in years and have been analog free since the 3 day trial.

I agree with OP that I can never, never have another one, lest I would fall back into the tobacco trap again. Even as nasty as it was, I would still wind up going back to a lifestyle that I never want to visit again.

I thought I was doing great with handling all this and after about three weeks my craving were really under control and I hardly ever gave it second thought. Then this weekend (9 weeks in) I got in to my car after shopping and that old craving hit me like a truck! It was such a strong craving that if I'd had any cigarettes around me I'm sure I would have caved. It really took me by surprise as I haven't had any cravings that strong since about week 3... lol must have been the shopping, to bad I cant get groceries on line:)

For me It's like my Avatar said “Do or do not... there is no try.”

I flat out refuse to touch an analog, some people need to step down, etc, and I'm glad that works for them. For me I will not slide back to the Dark Side.

Yup, what works for one may not work for another, but I am happy to say I hit one month today of NO analogs. Not ONE, as the thread title declares! I kind of like the idea of 2-10-11 being burned into my memory forever. It is a date I shall never forget, and I will celebrate it until my dying day.

Sorry I haven't been around much, thought I would check in with the V4L family... and saw another post about trying to smoke just one... or two analogs. My approach has worked for me. Still tobacco free. Not to mention getting out of the debt being a 3 PAD put me in.

I am solidly into a groove now. I still jones after a while if I don't vape, and I vape V4L 36mg stuff still. The nicotine addiction is still strong. Funny, the smokers at work are showing more and more interest in my vaping. Now they approach me about it. Hey. V4L, send me more cards with my next order. I ran out!

Hope you are all doing well.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hiya sweetie!

And guess what? My nephew's wife is finally off the butts, and that care package you sent was a GREAT help! She was a hard case... if one doesn't REALLY want to stop smoking they won't, and badgering is counter productive. After having a bunch of stuff I had supplied to her, including the items you sent me, she is finally vaping. Thanks so much!

Thanks SD... this forum was of SO much help to me, I should be here more often to help other newbies the way I was helped here. I have dropped in on occassion without posting...
