The first day I got my pv I did so well. I did not smoke any analogs. Then the next day I caved. I don;t even like the way they taste. Now I have to change my signature. One good thing is I'm down to one pack a day instead of two. I should not have set my goals so high. :(

Great job! Honestly, we had a customer who was at 2.5 packs a day. What helped him was he cut down to 3 cigarettes a day. One in the morning, afternoon and at bedtime and after about 3 weeks he completely switched over to e-cigs full time. Hope this helps!

Dont lose faith, I vaped and smoked for almost the first year, then I got down to one cig a day just out of spite. One day I thoght I would try only vaping for about w
2weeks, and one the 15th it will be a year. I still have 4 cigs in my car and will probably try one after the year mark but I am sure it will taste nasty and that will be my last. We will see. Don't put long term restrictions on yourself, any cigs not smoked is a win in my book.

For some reason my signature does not keep up, it stays on the day that I made it????

Don't fret it, you're in good company. I'm going on 4 months of vaping, and after smoking 1 1/2 packs a day for 36 years now smoke about 1 pack a week and can usually go days between smoking. I've found that when I really miss a cig and don't feel like buying any I vape just a few drops of super high nic such as 36 or 48mg. But you don't want to do more than this on a regular basis since it is a skin irritant and will eventually end up with a rash on your neck. Just a drop or three! Other than that I try to get buy with 6 or 12mgs! Good Luck to you!!!

As I'm sure you have figured out by now, you are not alone :), and you ARE succeeding! I do hear you about setting your own ideas of what success will look like and then not quite living up, though. :( Time for a new plan, that's all! It took me about a week to switch over completely myself, but I had some strong motivators - I don't smoke in the house, and am lazy enough to prefer to vape indoors rather than tear myself away from my computer to go outside - AND - we were having a bad wasp infestation the month I started this so who wanted to go out there anyway! LOL. Who knows how long I would have done both if it weren't for these factors :) Good job getting started!

As others have said, any cig avoided is good! I have vaped on and off for almost a year now. I started because I was ticked off about not being able to smoke in the bars anymore. Me = rebel. I'm finally getting serious about quitting smoking. After 3 months of determination, I'm down to 1 or 2 cigs a day after smoking about a pack a day for most of the last 30+ years. Take your time and be kind to yourself. :)

I understand being disappointed but honestly, switching over to just a PV is not a cake walk for anyone. I still have issues with cheating every now and then but it is few and far between and I'm not smoking cigarettes all day like I used to. It's easy to lose sight of what matters and that is enjoying where you are on the way to where you're going. Take care. Vape long and prosper.

I made it 8 weeks without an analog when I first started vaping. My behavior started becoming a little more irrational as this time progressed. It ended with me blowing my top and smoking again. For a month I smoked from 2 to 5 analogs a day. I am now back to ½ a cig every other day in the morning. I will probably keep this for another month or two before I cut down to ½ a cig per week. From experience it is much easier to just vape and not ration the analogs. On the other hand, my chemistry isn’t set up to just drop all of the other nasty chemicals found in an analog.

I also need to mention that 2 analogs a day are enough to make me experience respiratory problems again. I have to quit if I want to breathe freely two years from now. Don't let the setbacks get you down. Just keep working at it.

I also continued to smoke a few analogs a day after I started vaping, but I cut back from 2 packs a day to just a few analogs a day, The best way to get it working for you, is to not smoke any analogs in the house or in the car...thats a must to get off the butts, then try and limit your analogs to only after supper, or after a meal, and only one in the evening...just saying, as you limit your indoor and car smoking you will start to notice a more pleasant smell in your car and house...not to mention your hair and clothes, as this starts becoming more and more noticable it may be easier to just start vaping when you have that urge...you can vape in the house and in the car...so no worries about the ability to get a lungfull of nic when needed...dont carry analogs with you when going to the store or to a restyraunt...just your ego will do for those occasions....give it a whirl and see if it makes it easier for you, it worked for me.

I was smoking over 3 packs a day before I started vaping. It took me over 2 months to quit smoking.

For me, one of the things I needed in order to quit smoking was some higher nic juice. I started out vaping 24mg, and that's still my all-day vape. But that wasn't getting me off the cigs. I'd get big cravings, mostly after meals, that vaping wouldn't fix. When I got some 30mg juice, I started dripping it after meals and anytime I got cravings for a real cig. That worked right away. As soon as I started doing it, I stopped smoking, and haven't had a cig since.

You can do it and you have all the support that you could ever ask for. I just started and have been smoking and vaping. The first juices we got were 12mg and apparently not enough for me to completely give up the analogs. I just got some 18mg juice that I am able to vape all day long and smoked my last cig yesterday after work. I'm not saying I won't smoke an analog here or there but I don't plan to. The morning is the worst for me and the suggestions about having a higher mg juice is great advice.

As some have already said one less analog smoked is all for the better :D

It is encouraging to know I am not alone in this because after a few days of vaping I went out (in a snowstorm) to buy analogs and am still doing both. I started with 24mg but was overdosing so I got some 12mg which I can vape all day long but I still find myself craving.

The dripping at times of crave sounds like a plan, I will have to try that (once I figure out how!)

I read somewhere that we are expert at regulating our personal nicotine needs, is that true? I am a little concerned about accelerating my nicotine use doing the vape whereas with analogs I was always 1 pack a day, no more, no less. I am smoking about 4 analogs a day, so that is definately improvement. Just not the 100% free I would like to be.

Good job Denise, that's 16 cigarettes a day that you are not smoking!

What I did when a craving hit was make myself reach for the e-cig first. I'd take a few vapes first and make myself wait 5 minutes. It helped change my conditioned response from lighting up to vaping. As I weaned myself off all the other chemicals in a cigarette, vaping became enough to satisfy the craving. Today is my 11th day without a cigarette and it's been really really painless.

I vape more often than I smoked, but I don't know that I am getting more nicotine than I did from cigarettes. I do know that there are 4999 toxic chemicals in a cigarette not entering my body when I vape. I'm good with that for now.

I vape more often too, but many times just 2 or 3 puffs. With analogs there were always those times I was "done" before the cig was gone and I felt I had to finish it (those buggers are pricey after all!) - there's also those few times I'd get to the end of the cig and wish there were 1 or 2 more drags on it. Vaping is a dream come true in this regard! 2 or 3 hits when you feel like it - or 20 minutes straight when the mood strikes. The advice here on reaching for the e-cig first and then waiting 5 min. is good. That will condition your brain to crave the vape instead. So happy for all you fellow vapers! :D

Well I'll be at 2 years tomorrow...
Honestly the feeling to cave and not cheat didn't happen until I found the right gear for me to actually have a satisfying vape session..

To do that I had to throw out the illusion that the e-cig had to look like an analog...
I needed a mod that actually delivered 3.7V to a low resistance atomizer..
Specifically an exposed bridge atomizer ( a 306) to give me the amount of vapor, warmth, and TH that was satisfying for me...

What I'm getting at is given the amount you smoked that switching to a stock ecig is like a 2 pack a day unfiltered smoker all of a sudden trying to switch to ultralight 100s....it's not your fault and not uncommon...you might just need better hardware..
