So sorry that your former friend is a ...... :( And don't worry about smoking. That is the beauty of PVs, there is much less of an all-or-nothing attitude with them. You have dusted yourself off and got back on the juice. Your info will be recovered, and you will move forward. Hugs to you.

In my head, the omitted word would be the title of those who killed Kenny! ('Oh my gosh! They killed Kenny!' etc etc). It works in my head!x

actually to wipe a hdd all you really need is a magnet powered by electricity, or a lot of magnets after writing zero's to a HDD.

or a high powered rifle, or gasoline and a match...or...a hammer

yeah its not easy but it can be done with perseverance.

Yes when I worked in a Computer Room (many moons ago) we wiped our 9-track (showing my age here) with a degausser..it was an electrical jobber with a belt wrapped around a huge magnet ..we would lay the tapes on one side until they got to the end of the belt assembly and then turn them over and repeat the process.
I don't even know if they use degaussers anymore - probabaly not.

I am pretty new here.. But I saw this & had to comment.

That person was TOTALLY inappropriate & does not deserve to be a part of your life.. My 2 cents on that.

Now as far as Caving... Don't beat yourself up too much. You smoked.. better than murder I would say.. lol. See that it was a choice that you made & move on with lesson learned. I have been struggling a bit but I have learned my lesson several times before.. Now I will fight it with every fiber of my being (I do have health issues that are from smoking & I can not afford it.).

Believe in yourself.. No matter what happens, don't give up. We are here for you. :)

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have a life full of crap right now. I haven't touched an analog in over a month now. I had some bad stuff hit me recently and an analog ran across my mind. Instead I hit the e CIG a little more. I'm on 24 mg juice and got a bit nic sick. Hope everything is working out for you. Stay strong.

If you have learned anything from having those smokes then let's call it research!

Many people get curious on how it would taste or whatever, it's natural. I had 7 smokes left when I quit a year ago. I still have 4 of them left and I am not resetting anything and I will smoke the others if I have to. They are my insurance policy so that I don't have to buy a pack just out of curiosity. You are doing Wonderful things! Keep it up!

Relax, Enjoy!

ETA: I have no idea why my banner says 1 Year, minus 1 month, 27 days?!?! LOL

Hopefully the math will straighten itself out in a few days.

UPDATE: the HDD issue wasn't one of lack of power as they took it out of the case and put it in one of their cases and it still wouldn't work. The PC repair place have sent it off to their labs and there's now a note on it saying 'please push this though urgently'- after a £5 phone call! They're very positive they can do it but its looking like the issue was caused by it being knocked about a bit. This doesn't suprise me given the culprit is a great lummux and the way it was handed/thrown back to me. But I might, MIGHT, have it back on Saturday or Tuesday of next week... right after my deadline on Friday for which I need the data about my first masters with all the really exciting journals stored... luckily, I have a paper copy of the original dissertation and can use the bibliography in the meantime! Also, I'm still on my 12mg and feeling less inclined to throw things :) I love my PV! I'd have cracked entirely without it!

Sometimes, bad things happen. Sometimes we watch the movie adaptation of The Velveteen Rabbit in the same week as an important monthly event and our HDDs are broken. For the masochists among you, try watching it and NOT crying! I blubbed like a baby! Also, try looking up Granpa on Youtube and not crying... I still have my #1 bear (Egbut No-Chips, affectionately known as 'Eggy') and my PV so the world is still good!x

OK, a new update...

I got my HDD back on Tuesday 5th Feb. All I have lost is a load of video files which I'm pretty peeved about but in the long run, they're not worth worrying about...Most can be replaced over time. I have also lost some photos of my MA graduation but these are all on Facebook so even though the quality wont be as good, at least I've got them! Plus, I still get to graduate from my second MA so I can make lots more photos with lots more memories in July! I might even have them backed up on a DVD at home so that's cool too!

Unfortunately, as soon as I picked up my new external HDD with the data transferred from the old one, I found my INTERNAL HDD had gone belly-up! I'm not even kidding! I was like 'oh poop! I'm gonna need a new HDD and a new OS as I've only got the upgrade disk as this HDD had Vista on and I upgraded to 7...now I'm gonna have to have 8 and I don't want 8...' as well as costing up just how many pounds of flesh I was gonna have to spend on this... after several formats and deleting of partitions (much credit to my mate Dave and whitepony for this!), I got it working and this time, I DIDN'T CAVE!!!!! WOOHOO!!!

So, things are on the up! No more caving and monitoring my juice usage is proving interesting... how the heck I only used 1ml of 12mg juice the day my HDD crashed is beyond me! There really is no rhyme or reason to my juice consumption...

Thank you all for your support... Let's keep smiling cos even those bumps in the road can't mess us up totally now!x
