I've been smoking analogs for a little over a year now. And I wish I never started. I enjoy cigarettes, the taste, the smell, the feeling.... everything. But I can't keep doing this. And I've committed to trying to quit. However, I'm addicted. So I've decided when I get my money up (around September) I'm going to switch to Ecigs.

However- what do I buy?! I wanted Blu, but after reading reviews- I'm not gonna bother.

I need something around the price of Blu, and hopefully as easy as Blu.... If anyone can recommend something, I'd be grateful.

One last thing- I smoke menthols, and would like something that tastes like menthol cigarettes.

Hello Nenapod! Welcome to ECF, first of all..a year! I wish I could say I wanted to quit a year into smoking! Life would have been so much nicer!

You need to take a look at the models, decide what you like. Most new people to vaporing want a looks like a cig, feels like, tastes like..then they switch! Save yourself the grief!
The closest good model to a regular cigarette size is the 510, a workhorse from all the reports from people who buy them. I like my 901 easy peasy and my batts die fast! LOL I am going to try a manual battery next. (I have the original now).
There are the bigger models..longer battery life before you have to charge them like the 801. A bit harder to refill though.
Then there are the mods, that are more expensive but use a battery you can find on the open market..those batteries are longer lasting and pack a punch.
You can find lots of menthols that can be added to a tobacco flavor..but not one will taste like your old cigarette (hereafter called an analog). But after a short time you won't care, the flavors are so much better then analogs any day! Then you'll be trying banana and chocolate! Try that with an analog!
When you order your first e-cig, don't forget to order a bottle or three of juice. You can then refill your carts. Don't toss your empty carts!
poke around this place, you will find reviews and suppliers and everything you need to know!

If you're looking for lots of vapor and a good quality and consistent throat hit, like a lot of us, the e-cig models that have a manual switch are a good choice.

The importance of the manual switch is that it heats the atomizer portion of the e-cig to a higher temp which gives you warmer vapor, lots of vapor, and a good quality throat hit. Another important feature of the manual switch is that it does not have a short cut off or time out to the drag.

For someone relatively new to e-cigs, I would recommend the 510 e-cig model. It's a manual switch e-cig that is reliable and durable. It will get you started in vaping and will give you an idea of what vaping is like. The 510 model got me off ciggies and that's why I recommend it to new e-smokers. In addition, there is very little learning in how to use the 510.

I've since moved on to higher volt manual switch e-cigs, which has a higher vaping learning curve, but many of my family and friends still enjoy the 510.

510 model e-cigs (also known as Dura-C, Yeti, Joye 510):
USA Supplier
Yeti ( AltSmoke | Electronic Cigarettes The Yeti Starter Kits)

UK Supplier
Dura-C ( iVapour | Electronic Cigarettes | Janty Stick ? Janty Kissbox ? Janty Dura-C ? Janty Mini Fogger ? Janty E-Liquid & Cartridges )

China Supplier
Eastmall 510 ( 510 Manual Switch Starter Kit - Black - e-Cigs Manual Switch 510 - Eastmall International Co.,Ltd )

You may also want to include a 510 passthrough with your order. The passthrough is identical to a standard 510 rechargeable battery except that the end portion is wired to a standard USB connector. You simply plug the USB connector into a USB port or portable power pack and can vape all day long without having to change or charge batteries.

The e-liquid you buy will also play an important part in satisfying your nicotine cravings and also in providing a good throat hit. The higher you go in nicotine strength, the better the throat hit. 36 mg nicotine (the highest strength right now) does give a nice throat hit but made me sick and gave me headaches. I smoked 2-3 packs of ciggies per day for several years - so just because you smoked a lot doesn't mean that the higher nicotine is right for you.

For the first 2 months of vaping I used 18 mg (high) nicotine strength and was quite happy with that. I am currently now using 12 mg (medium) nicotine strength and still feel satisfied.

For a first purchase of e-liquid, I would recommend you buy the flavor or flavors you think will best suit your needs. You'll find the right strength for you. There are a lot of suppliers that have good liquid so the field is open there. Wherever you place your e-cig order you will also be able to buy e-liquid.

Finding the right e-cig model and the e-liquid flavor and nic strength that suits you is what is going to make you a successful e-smoker.

Hope this helps - Good Luck

Might want to check out 901 with manual batteries at eastmall.net. Not sure if anyone else is selling the manual 901 batts yet but I'm loving mine so far! Can't compare it to a 501 as I don't have one, but I never get the nasty burning taste that a lot of 501 owners complain of. All of the flavors come through really nicely too. The manual batteries are definitely a step up from the autos that I started with.

Hi
The shop I use is Eastmall net.
The DSE801 and DSE901 are great and only $39.95 each kit both auto and manual and they have several colors to choose from.
All their 801 attys are 4 hole even the atomiser sold by itself.
Some like the 501 and they are also $39.95 both auto and manul.
The Lady pipe has better smoke for $60 and the E-pipe has the bset smoke for $75.
I think you might want a DSE901 to start out they are the smaller one.
Enjoy
Mike

Hey they also have a sale on liquid 7 20mil bottles for $50 or was it $59 but thats seven flavors you can try and they have a nice sellection.

Shipping is only $15 no matter how much you order.

Great advice above, and can't go wrong on the 510. Day two for me on my Joye 510 - love it. I bought for $46 with two atomizers, two batteries, etc. from yourlastcig dot com, $5 shipping flat rate. Added a couple bottles of juice to REFILL the cartridges when empty. Arno emailed me to answer all questions, eventually called me when it got complicated. Great service, southern US so quick delivery (2 days).
Good luck to ya !

Okay, the 510 does sound nice.

More questions:
Where should I buy this?
What cartridges may I buy, and from where?
If I have cartridges, why do I need juice?

Thanks for the help everyone =]] I just want to make sure I know what I'm getting in to.

You have gotten good advice from many here. I will second that for a first purchase, I would go with the DSE901 manual battery or the 510.

The prefilled carts by and large do not taste good and are way over priced. Refilling your own gives you much better taste, costs much less and much more variety in flavors.

DSE MANUAL 901 or the 510 as well as very good juice:

www.eastmall.net

For the 510 plus very good juice:

Do not confuse the plain DSE 901 (auto switch) with the DSE 901 manual switch.

Where to buy is your choice, read the suppliers forums and get an idea of what the customers are saying! Also you can check prices and sales.
When you get a kit..any kit, they will send you at least 5 carts. They are prefilled. You need juice because carts go fast, you will sitting there waiting for more carts or juice and banging your head. You can refill a lot of carts with juice, it's cost effective.
But if you insist on prefilled, fine most suppliers will gladly sell them to you. The ones you buy are usually better then the ones that come with the kit. The kit ones are from the factory and no one has figured out why they aren't as good as the ones bought separatly. Oh well.
One more thing, with prefilled, you can't mix a drop of this and two drops of that and get your custom juice..like tobacco with a drop of menthol and a drop of vanilla..if that's what you like.
Check out all the links that have been posted in this thread..these people won't steer you wrong!

Okay, I'm starting to get it. I have been lurking and reading and it's making sense.

Just a few more questions (I like to have everything set when I make a purchase like this)
Why do I need new atomizers?
How long does an atomizer last?
I can use any e-liquid with any model?
Those e-liquids are expensive.... How long does a $45 bottle last? If it's like 1000 cartridges or something, not bad, but otherwise....
