New To the Site - Need Recommendations for Menthol E-liquid

Yeah so I bought Blu because I wanted to be healthier, but I didn't want to stop smoking. I'm not going to lie, them having their own website and it looking as professional as it did is what sold me on it. I didn't know about this forum until after I'd already purchased it. Anyway, I'm getting a different e-cigarette now since my Blu crapped out just after the 30-day money back gaurantee expired. I think I'm going to go with the Joye-510.

Now, here's the problem, I need some recommendations for some good menthol e-liquid. My cigarettes of choice are Camel Wides Menthol and I smoke about 1.5-2 packs per day of that. So I need a good menthol that really tastes like a menthol cigarette, and not just menthol by itself. It also needs to have a decent level of nicotine. I think the Blu cartridges only had like 24 mg or something like that of nicotine and it wasn't nearly enough.

Now also another thing, I don't know if you guys know this or not, but nicotine by itself is not highly addictive (it is addictive, I'm not saying it's not, it's just not THAT addictive) - only when administered with an MAOI (which the tobacco plant also naturally has) does it become highly addictive. I'm not trying to curb my addiction, but maybe you can also recommend some e-liquid that contains some of the same types of MAOI's found in the tobacco plant along with the nicotine? I noticed before with the Blu that I still craved cigarettes and that I was using my Blu almost 24-7. I think the lack of the MAOI is what made the difference. By the way, the MAOIs in tobacco smoke are harman, norharman, anabasine, anatabine, and nornicotine.

I too WAS a menthol smoker for about 28 years. I've tried 3 different vendors liquid and the one flavor I LOVE is spearmint! Much cooler and refreshing than menthol. I got 26mg VG and cut it with PG. Wonderful taste. Hope this helps.
Thanks but I don't want something "cooler" or more "refreshing" than menthol. Like, I like the menthol tobacco flavor, and that's what I'm looking for. I like the kind of crunchy taste it has, I'm not looking for a sweet flavor, but that same smooth yet abrasive mentholated tobacco taste.

I'm still fairly new to the whole e-cigarette thing, like I know a lot about it, but I'm no hep cat when it comes to the lingo and stuff. "VG and cut with PG" - like that, I have no idea what that means.

Oh another thing I need to mention about this is that I don't care how much visible vapor the liquid produces, I would actually prefer less visible, but it's really not important.

Plain truth. You want the taste of your cig and there is no compromise. Smoke your cig.

Since nothing is burned, there is no way to replicate the smoke. The best of the tobacco flavors taste like a fresh pack that has just been opened smells.

Look. Nearly everyone of us here wanted to reproduce our brand of smokes. It wasn't possible. We compromised and found something better in the process. Finding a juice that works for you is a personal journey and it takes effort and compromise.

Maybe these PV's aren't for you, but when you ask for suggestions and shoot the first one down, how many more are going to be willing to help? Me and darn few others. So take it or leave it because the facts will not change to your will or ideal.

Just because I shot down a senior member doesn't mean you have to jump in my craw about it.

I don't like spearmint, and I didn't shoot him down in an ....... kind of way either, I even said thanks.

I specifically asked for recommendations for menthol, and I know it's not going to taste exactly like a cigarette, I just gave my brand of cigarettes so somebody else could tell about what kind of flavor or taste I have.

So just because I'm new doesn't mean I will take it laying down. There was nothing wrong with me shooting the first post down and I wasn't an ....... about it. Now if you want to be an ....... about it, then go ahead, it's not going to bother me.

What i found out the hard way and expensive way is that when i first quit analogs and for a few weeks afterwards my perception of taste changed, some of the flavors that i didn't care for at first are now my favorite ones. I also took into consideration the people who make these flavors most likely have working tastebuds unlike mine after 30 years of abuse.

There have been threads about the missing alkaloids in the nicotine and health subforums. Some people use snus and dissolvables (Ariva and so on) to get them. There isn't a commercially available e-liquid that contains them, but TropicalBob made his own from snus- you might want to PM him about that.

As for the flavor, the tobacco flavor is not even close in anything I've tried. I've tasted menthols which aren't sweet and have that mild abrasiveness but simultaneous cooling feeling, like vapornine's crisp menthol cartomizers (you would need adapters if you get a 510), but the tobacco flavor of it isn't really similar.

Here's a bunch more useful info.

At the bottom of the page of the ECF forum you'll find many suppliers. I'd suggest buying e-liquid in small quantities till you find the one for you. And your tastes may change so don't throw anything out. You can remix it, vape it later, or trade it if nothing else.http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/classifieds-swaps/

Good luck with your adventures, we've all been there.

I was a menthol smoker too and when I started, naturally I was looking for the same tobacco taste. I was afraid that if I didn't get the same taste I was used to ecig might not work for me. So I bought Cowboy Menthol and was surprised that I loved it. I'm just hoping that you won't get frustrated about not finding the "cigarette" taste you're looking for. I'm sure it's out there but it the meantime, why don't you also try the other flavors that intrigues you. You might even surprise yourself :D

I smoke Parliament Menthol lights...i havent fully quit yet, but down to about 5 a day now from a pack. I tried the V4L Parliament menthol...was a little too much tobacco taste for me. I do like the Kamel Red Menthol though from V4L. Good balance personally. The Dunhill Menthol is good as well.

If you want a really smokey taste, the Johnson Creek has a menthol one that might be what you are looking for. Hint of menthol, lots of tobacco/smokey flavor.

V4L (Vapor4Life) as 2 different 5 cartridge sample packs. They are cartomizers though. This is good because you'll be getting a new atomizer and so will be getting exactly that flavor instead of a mix of any residue on the atomizer from before and the new liquid. I know they make a Joye 510 to KR-808 cartomizer adapter but I don't own 510 gear so can't tell you where to get one. Assuming at least 1 of those cartomizers taste good to you V4L sells just the liquid which you could then use to fill your 510 cartridges.

I smoked Salem Slim lights but also tried Camel Gurkish Jade and Marlboro Smooth and preferred them so I'm looking for a more mint and menthol and tobacco flavor vs pure Menthol so can't be more helpful that the suggestion of those sample packs.

Thanks everyone for the helpful responses, I would thank you all individually, but there were just too many of you, I'll definitely give some of these flavors a shot. I will also look for an MAOI that is safe to take and mimics the effects of the ones found in tobacco. I'll pass on any information I find.

You see I know that some people (like me, for instance) are on medications and can't take MAOI's which are generally prescribed at therapeutic levels, and not at the levels found in tobacco cigarettes. I see my psychiatrist very soon and I'll ask him about it.

In the mean time, I can make an electronic petition online if you all would be willing to sign it that I can send to any of the top e-liquid producers to ask them if they can try and produce a liquid containing the MAOIs found in cigarettes that vaporizes at the same temperature as the current liquid they offer, that way the two can be mixed, if one desires that.

Best piece of advice I've gotten from this forum...try some different flavors, you might find that you like them. I did, and I do. Oddly enough, never cared for menthol cigs, but I really like mint/ menthol vape...go figure.

By all means, try and find that menthol flavor that you love now, but throw in a little bottle of some off the wall flavor with an order here or there. You might be surprised.

I really liked awesomevapors menthol @36mg. It doesn't really have a tobacco taste, more mint and menthol.

Tastyvapor.com makes a decent tobacco/menthol. I didn't care for it but then again I don't really like tobacco flavors when I vape either. I hear its supposed to be one of the best for tobacco/menthol taste.

I think a higher nicotine juice in any flavor will do it for you.

I did pretty much the same thing with the Blu...it is an impressive website. Even looked at reviews off the Blu website found tons of A plus's...till I came here.
Took a few weeks with it, and ya not doing the trick. Got the Joye 510...love it.

Was not a menthol smoker...but I really like the Wisconsin frost from Johnson Creek they seem to have the better "tobacco" Flavs in my opinion of course.
