I've been vaping close to 2 years. The only e-cig I've ever used is the V2 from V2cigs. I started on them and never thought to do much research because it suited my needs. Now I've joined the forum and see all these awesome looking units and reading many of the posts is like Greek to me. I'd like to learn more. What is available, what does the terminology mean, who are the recommended suppliers, etc. is there a comprehensive website/thread where I can educate myself? I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of good stuff!

Welcome to ECF and good job on vaping for so long! If you check out the new members section if the forum there should be a link to the new members information section. There's about 15 threads there that contain a lot of info about the different devices around now, or just find one of the threads from people asking for recommendations. And of course, if you've got any specific questions, don't be shy about asking :)

You have found this & everything you mention is in here. You will need to prepare yourself for becoming glued to this site. People are so helpful you will be amazed.
Try just bouncing around a few posts in the new members forum. Look for newbies asking for help. That will give you an idea of how massive this is. Ask, ask, ask & you will get answers.
It will take time to figure this site out so I would say your best bet is to just jump in & enjoy the ride.

I wish I knew how to post links. There is a newbie guide that someone may be able to post as a good start for you.

Good luck & welcome.

First, by a Provari (more than you will need, but easy to learn and great to try things on). Then a Vivi nova (it will come with a drip tip)to get you through the night and tough times. Then start hanging around the forum while vaping and decide what your next mod (ecig) is going to be. That is what I did and I find it to be quite an enjoyable experience.

READ, READ and then, READ some more. It will sound like a foreign language at first, but then you will start to understand more and more. You do not have to start with the most expensive things to move you forward in your journey. I am not knocking the Provari (aka "Pro-thingy" tm The Ocelot) but I, personally, could not justify the price and complexity just to learn.

I took your advice and looked into Provari. Found a youtube review and it looks great. The price is a bit astonishing...$160. Is that a good price for this? I know it does a lot, but even so it seems steep. Can I get it for less?

NOOOOOOOOOOO. You do NOT have to "by" a Provari to get a great vape experience. There are many thing you can BUY that are much more inexpensive so you can try out what works FOR YOU.

Provari looks great but at $160 I'm not going to get it. If I could get it for less, maybe. I can see I really need to do my research before I move on from V2, if I do move on. Education is the first step!

you can get a lot for less. Like the saying goes "all it takes is time and money". In this case, a lower priced mod may take a little more time to learn how to use it, like a mech mod or what have you, but that is the fun of it. Sure there are easier mods out there, but from what I understand, you are wanting to move up from what you are currently using. I know you can get some great advise on step up mods, I am just telling you what I did and do. I saved a little more and took a little longer before buying. Looks like you are going in the right direction.

This is just a suggestion but if you're just looking to expand your horizons a little, look into getting a variable voltage ego type battery, like an ego twist or a vision spinner. Then look into different juice delivery devices, go with clearos since you're pretty familiar with the cartomizers from your v2. I'd suggest getting a top coil, like a ce4 or a vivi nova; and a bottom coil like a Kanger T3 or vapeonly bcc, that way you can try them out and see which you like better and play with different voltages to see how that changes things. There are so many choices out there that it can be overwhelming, but it's also a whole new world of toys to play with.

Woof: are there any Brick and Mortar (B&M) stores nearby? That way you can get a "hands on" learning experience.

How I wish there were! If there are, I haven't located one. I live in a small city on the decline so not a lot of new businesses. I do go to Cincinnati regularly and I would expect to find one there. Thanks for suggesting that. I see what I can find before my next trek.

I looked at the eGo Twist today after reading it in another post. It looks like a good next step. Although I love what I'm seeing on here as far as good looking, highly customizable and thick vapor producing equipment, I'm afraid I'd get in over my head if I move on to something completely different too quickly.

If I've learned one thing here it is that there are a million options and a million people with different tastes/budgets/etc, so take this with a grain of salt, but I will second what Lessifer said about the Twist or Spinner and some clearos. I started from total cluelessness (other than having tried a mediocre cig-lookalike a couple years ago) and got these products and this has been easy as pie for me. The hard part is trying to figure out what flavors I like!

But I think the variable voltage thing is really cool and makes your experience more customizable to your tastes, and both the Twist and the Spinner have this option (you can twist the bottom of the device to change your voltage depending on what you like with a given flavor juice or PG/VG ratio or whatever).

I think if you buy the battery alone it may be around $25, more for a kit with a charger/clearos/second battery.

I ordered a kit from myvaporstore.com, great service.
