I know it was the exact same flavor, exact same ProTank IIs, my hubby says it was the exact same voltage - but I can't swear to that because I'm not positive if it was or not. I could do exact same tank and voltage now....but not same flavor if you need me to.

I have an MVP2 now. I have been riding the fence. I am not doubting what you say, but "theoretically" the MVP 2 and Provari with the same tank and same voltage settings should taste identically.

They are putting the exact same wattage to the coil. Some people claim the Provari has a smoother taste than other APV's because the cheaper APV's have PWM on the output. The ProVari does not. The MVP2 however doesn't either.

On paper, and on the scope, the MVP and Provari should be identical, performance wise. The Provari blows it out of the water in build quality and longevity, but performance wise they should not be discernible.

What would be a really interesting test is if you closed your eyes and had your husband put one in your mouth and take a hit on one, then swap out the tank and take a hit on the other.

Then see if you can identify the ProVari.

I'm not trying to bait you at all. I'm really curious. If you can consistently identify the Provari with your eyes closed, I'll order one tonight.

Tell ya what...when I finish my dinner, since my husband is at work, but my 18 yr old daughter is here....I will have her try it and I'll let you know the outcome.

Sounds like a Blind Triangle. We use it in beer tastings, especially when someone is trying to clone a recipe. The idea is to have someone else pour you three samples in identical glasses. 2 are the same one & the 3rd is the other. If you can't identify which of the 3 is the odd man out, it's considered cloned. Since the PV itself is what you're testing & would be the 'glass' in this case, it would be an interesting test. Take 3 vapes off from 2 devices administered by someone else & see if you can figure out which is the odd man out. Very interesting proposal. 3 of the same drip tip would help make it even more anonymous.

That's exactly what I'm looking for.

Set the Provari and MVP2 to the exact same voltage. Have a tank filled with a certain juice. Close your eyes or use a blindfold, have the administrator put the tank on one of the PV's. Vape. Have the administrator put the tank on the second PV, vape again. Then either put the tank on the original PV or the same PV and vape a third time.

The administrator will switch tanks and activate the button. The only thing the one tasting does is put their mouth on the tank and inhale.

This way, the tester has no idea whether they are vaping off the ProVari or MVP 2 except by taste/vape alone. I would be extremely interested in the results.

Ok....so both the ProVari and the MVP 2 are set to 3.4 volts. 8 out of 10 times I did pick correctly and she wouldn't tell me which it really was only that I was wrong two times. The flavor is more pronounced and smoother with the ProVari.

When that was over - I then took my Cinnamon Gummybear myself and tried it with the 3.4 Volts on my ProVari and then put it on the MVP because that was not the flavor we did this test with. I had to move the voltage to a 3.6 to get close to the same flavor.

Also, keep in mind that the ProVari Mini takes an 18350 battery - I've already drained one today and never noticed a single difference in my flavor as it drained to my blue led light flashing. When I put a new battery in, it was the exact same experience I'd had all day long.

I was not out looking to replace my MVP, in fact my husband asked for an MVP for Christmas and I purchased him one. I had read him the things that were said about the Provari and he knew I wanted one - so he told me to buy one for Christmas. He wanted to make sure it was a noticeable difference and he wanted to see which one I ended up using more before he said "get me one". After he tried mine this morning, he is already saying he wants one. His MVP arrived on Monday. He's been vaping on it since Monday afternoon - he RAVED about how much he LOVED it - just like I did with my MVP. His battery was still full when he did the taste test....and I was fully satisfied with my MVP too.....until today.

My only alteration would be to put a fresh, clean, but otherwise identical tip on all 3 times. As with any real experimentation make everything absolutely identical as possible, only changing 1 factor, the thing you're trying to test. After that, it's only a worthwhile result if it can be repeated.

I forget about the drip tip. I use mini protank 2's with the static tip on all my devices, so I can't change tips on my tanks.

I just think about the fact that if your lips are on it, it'll warm up which could be detected by the subject. If the tip warms up & collects residue, then you're also affecting the perception of the flavor. You can't use different tanks since they won't have the exact same physics. Ergo, getting 3 identical, clean tips & switching between each test. It's still not perfect, but it's about as close as you'll come.

I'll try this tomorrow when hubby is home......he's a vaper....he also knows how to hold it...how to put it to my lips...and how to....wow.....ok...I'll just try this one tomorrow! :)

There are others that have had an MVP, acquired a Provari and said they noticed a difference in the vape. I applaud Egreen for the interesting test. That said, you'll never convince a skeptic until they try one. That's why there are so many "Now I get it!" comments when someone gets their first one, followed by planning to get the second.

Oz, don't make this more difficult than it needs to be! This test exceeded the FDA standards already! ;)

Science is a :censored:! :D But that's how the critics get you too... make one flaw & they're all over it.

I've got my Provari's & I couldn't be happier. The results would be interesting, but wouldn't affect my experience at all. I surely wouldn't rush out to buy another PV, cheaper or more expensive, regardless of the results. I'm happy with what I have. I'm just saying if you want to do an experiment, eliminate as many variables that aren't being tested as possible. Look at that other 'experiment' thread & where that went. There will always be something ("Oh, the barometric pressure wasn't exactly the same") but if you think ahead & cover your bases, it's still less likely & the results more accurate.

I can conclusively tell you that you can taste a difference... because that is the first thing I did with my first Provari (black) and my MVP2:

That test is what got me on the ProVape site to order another one, 5 minutes after I did that test. I got the little silver one on the right.

**Edited to note: I cleaned my keyboard the minute I saw these pix! Hey, it's black, wasn't til I saw the reflection in the photo that I realized it was very dirty... LOL!
