Ok, let's set up some basic ground rules before we get started so we are all on the same page.

1. None of us are God, we are all imperfect humans just trying to figure out all out. Everyone's input is important and valid as we are all going to be learning together, in love, compassion and understanding.

2. Debates might come up, but we must all understand that one person's opinion or interpretation is not necessarily more valid then another. This includes everyone, me also. Respect and common courtesy are expected at all times from everyone.

3. Love and treating others with kindness and respect are the most important thing here and we can all learn from eachother and we can agree to disagree on somethings too, but everything through love and compassion is a must.

Feel free to add to the list if you guys have some other suggestions. I think these are all pretty much basic common sense rules, but I just want everyone to be on the same page :):)

Thanks guys! I love you all! :):):)

I was thinking more like a few chapters a week or biweekly?

Um...and you want me to do commentary on these studies.....um..let's see...I remember a pm from a certain lady that ask, "will you lead our bible study, I don't want to put any pressure on you"? No pressure eh? Two chapters per week? LOL!!! Let's attempt/do 20 verses twice per week and see if I can keep up.

Hi everyone!

I must have missed something here already (Yeah, I'm a blonde...really), what book are we starting with and if we meet weekly or bi-weekly we need to take into consideration the time differences since we all live all over the country, well I think we do. I'm in AZ and Souther Gent is in TN, I think that is two hours diff from me. OR are we just supposed to leave our comments here in this thread and respond back and forth?

I am such a newbie I don't know if there is some other option than to just leave posts and then check back at various times during the day to read and reply...

All input here to me is completely appreciated!

Thanks!

OK...

Disregard my last post. I went all the way back to the first post and read everything. Southern Gent you did an amazing job of typing out all the genealogy. That would have taken me hours to do! Thank you for doing it so that we can refer back to it when we need to. I really appreciate what you did.

I am really looking forward to doing this, I believe this will be a great group with some great discussions and lots of input which leads to learning other view points on the same readings.

I agree that maybe one or two chapters is plenty to read and really think about enough to have a discussion about it. That of course is my humble opinion. I have never used resources online for a study guide. I am open to using those as tools to learn and engage my own brain to whatever topic we are talking about.

Being a practicing Catholic I do get readings from the Gospel, the Psalms and The Old Testament as part of Mass. Please don't hold it against me that I am Catholic. This is my belief, right or wrong, ALL Catholics are Christians, just not ALL Christians are Catholic. I have no preconceived notions about any Christian who follows another faith and I ask the same of you.

No!! You must be banished and sent to Patmos. There you will be deep fried as Saintscruiser feels you would taste like chicken.

Just kidding. Your request is granted I'm sure. It is all any of us would ask.

Ok, stop belly aching.

20 Verses at a time twice a week to start and let's see how it goes. I'll start a new thread just for the Study. Let's say we do it on Fridays and Tuesdays.

We don't all have to meet at the thread at the same exact time, just log in on friday and tuesday whenever you can to leave your thoughts about what we read.

Ok, so we start today with the first 20 verses in Matthew after the "begots" or whatever it's alled.

That would be roughly Matthew chapter 1 & 2.

I'll start the new study group thread now. We can continue over there.

Thanks Southern Gent.

How long did you study theology and where, or were you in a Seminary? I am amazed you speak all those languages, unless of course you were pulling our collective legs in your earlier post...

Hi Kelly!! No leg pulling. I have studied at the university level for 8 years. I have a Master of Divinity. It would probably be best not to say the name of the schools as it will reveal my church association and could possibly cause some degree of prejudice. I'm sure it would probably not be intentional but nevertheless plausible. During the study I will not teach ANY church doctrine whatsoever. In other words, if you are Methodist, Catholic, Baptist or whatever, if you find any teaching that deviates from your church "doctrine" go see your pastor/preacher for a clarified statement. What you will see is the Bible in it's clarity, plain and simple, like it or not fashion. I won't be teaching/leading from any doctrinal perspective. The doctrinal issues are something one needs to decide to accept or reject after knowing what the Bible says on a given matter.

Southern Gent,

I believe you are very knowledgeable and I certainly didn't expect for you to teach any "Church doctrine" I get that at Mass. I am very impressed with the amount of study you have done. You must have at least a doctorate, good for you! Like I said in my earlier post that I hold no preconceived notions about anyone and the faith they choose to practice. I just wanted to put out there that I am a practicing Catholic, for no particular reason except some Christians have a problem with Catholics (personally I don't understand it but I also don't practice judging anyone else for their Religious beliefs...well that's not exactly true, I do have a problem with Islam. That is simply because they are not Christians nor are they remotely tolerant of Christians.)

So, is it two chapters and twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays? Or 20 verses on Tuesdays and Fridays?
