So I got an e-mail from njoy today offering a big sale on various things that expires May 4. This would seem to contradict the reports of a stock shortage.

Tugger--the email I got was for cartridges and I called them to see what the deal was--they said that the units were on back order but had plenty of cartridges -----Sun

I can agree with that, but if the black market takes hold, there will be major problems. The hardware would be OK, but who could trust the juice? Look at the dead druggies that got bad stuff. I have family members who died from bad drugs. Really a shame, one was only 19 years old.

Greetings….

Writing to ask if anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area would be interested in being interviewed for a short news video I am putting together on the topic of e-cigarettes and the looming legal battles that are forming around them.

I will be conducting interviews over the next week and I am open to hearing any and all testimony from e-cigarette users. I've already gotten some very articulate perspectives from some worthwhile sources and I would like to add to that with more first hand accounts regarding use of the products. Although this is a freelance project, I am speaking with some editors now for this to run as a 3-5 minute video piece on a relevant news website.

My goal is to get this topic beyond the sort of E-Cig 101-style pieces that are currently surfacing in the media and getting into the more in-depth issues surrounding their use and legality.

Please get in touch if you have any interest. I'm happy to set up a time and location that works well for all involved.

Thanks,

My take on this,
Certainly I could be wrong but shipping nicotine in containers wothout placards would certainly get a container held in customs. I think that the FDA, customs will look at this like a terriost plot. Think about shipping posion in from another country, not to mention China has no quams about posioning their own people. IMHO the hardware will eventually come through after some reviews of containers that hold nothing but hardware. There is probably no way that any agency will allow china to ship nicotine into the USA for distribution by suppliers or companies. Personal consumption will probably get hit soon enough, but because it is below reportable quanities as defined by the most shipping agencies it has stayed under the net,,, for now. If the folks who oversee National security get any wind of this (and they probably have) the gig is up on the juice. I would venture a guess that if a container held only hardware and no carts or juice it would net even be detained. It may be that in time containers in quarintine could be opened up sorted and the hardware shipped, but the cost would be pretty expensive. I cannot say as to how the containers were shipped but if they did not have the proper placards they might never get shiped anywhere but back to China. If I had my manual I could see the proper shipping method but today it is in my truck at the yard.

I transport containers for shipping lines, forign and domestic. If I had the money I would be looking for a place to do buisness that could produce the juice here in the US. It is difficult to say this because I want my stuff, but I can truly see their side of the ban(on the juice only). I don't think the hardware will be or has been the problem at all.

Hmmmmm :? I dont think the juice is the main issue here. Honestly it all boils down to this. I remember my dad telling me this when I was 12. He's now 67 and retired (a very happy man). This was 15 years ago. When he was 30-40 years younger he remebered see mostly local stores (local hardware stoors, local grocery stoors...ect.) Then he says "now what do you see, Walmarts, Low's, and fast foods everywhere." Here's my point when BIG TABACCO and Pharmas Companies, who have been around for a long time, ketches wind of somthing that could be a potiental threat to there profits, they simply find a way to cut them down before it can really be really noticed or even tested. HINCE the Politicians being paid off....LOBBYING....ect....
The laws that were written (for the FDA, DEA...) in a way that they have exclusive rights to ban, search, and detane whatever could be concidered drugs and a long list of many other things. Reason for this is to protect A. Government Assets. B. Keep the BIG Ball rolling in profits. C. Control I've noticed myself in many products Aspartame is used to widely. Even in BIG RED GUM and Winter fresh....Its been known to cause liver disease, heart disease, and many others including stroke and death. Yet it still is being widely used.
IM sure you guys are very well aware of the dangers of to much government. If we're not careful we'll end up having to only eat pharma diets. And can only use viatmins that are FDA aproved and that could be a bad thing....concidering that to be aproved there must be A. studies by FDA...1-4 year long proccess and a crap load of money and B. Added BS to supplements. Ive noticed this with a load of FDA products there must be certain things done to make aproval.....not a good thing. I will say this there needs to be an end to all this before ths country hits a big problem. People dont like being told what to do with there own bodies.....Now if this hurts other people okay that makes since. but to exclusively ban a product that if does harm it only harms to oneself not others. example, analogs, 2nd hand smoke and lingering particals on clotheing can cause many health problems to children, adults, and pets. which everyone knows this im sure of it. Our rights have been slowly been taken away. If you dont believe me find out for yourself. Start looking around and ask those who were denied a transplant or needed to have artifical legs with joints so she could take care of her kids better and then denied b/c wasn't covered. It took many months and almost faced with a lawsuit before the state made the insurance company (blue cross blue shield) finally covored cost. there are many otheres out there...but what if it was you....your family. think about it.

intrigue I love it, I am slightly concerned that you have 'confirmed' that someone else's packages are being held, with data protection being what it is, I can't imagine they would disclose it to someone who wasn't the addressee.

Also people who feel it necessary to write "this is no joke" tend to be lying about something.

You can find lists of these packages held or turned away at FDA.gov although they aren't very current. Further, they lists carriers such as Polar Air Cargo, UPS, and Federal express that were refused entry. A few names are given, as well as obvious codes (Amy 45), and some partial addresses such E-cigarettes FL EBR-CBP. It seems anything with e-cigarette, atomizer, vaporizer, nicotine cartridge, mini-pipe, plastic medical part, and my favorites...laser pointer and laser pen are turned away as misbranded and suspected as unapproved new drug or drug devices. I suspect they are looking for items from tech suppliers. They also are refusing anything not described in English, for research studies, personal medication, for FDA approval with no FDA address, and suspicious supplements in vials.

agree completely. Not to mention all the DIY nicotine extraction that will start up. IMHO, the incident rate be worse than the .... labs accidents. After all, nicotine in its pure form is highly toxic and any extraction method that gets a fairly pure product will use some of the same flammable chemicals used in clandestine .... labs.

Ditto.

If hookah pipes and sneak-a-tokes can be imported, why can't a metal tube, heating coil and battery be manufactured here in the US? I don't mean a mod or screwdriver (I'd LOVE to try explaining one to the arresting officer) but a product similar to the 901 or 510.

induvidual smokers trust me you will be fine. you wont need to get suplies from China, because the gear will be legal in lots of other countries like UK, and if you get it sent to you from the UK, it will fly through customs faster then you can say "If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled pepper. Where's the peck of pickled pepper Peter Piper picked?" lol
