I Have No Desire to Upgrade

I have an eGo style battery w/pass through, and an Evod tank.

I'm happy with it.

It takes up next to no space, rather than a huge, clunky, (to me) awkward looking mod. I can throw it in my pocket or Random Stuff Holder in the center console of my car. The whole thing cost $30, I won't cry if it breaks or I lose it. And if I DO lose it or break it, I can walk into about any smoke shop and pick up the exact same gear.

Is it the best? Well, define best, I guess. For me, I think so. I can pick it up and vape. Maybe switch out a coil if I need to. I don't need to spend epochs fiddling with wires and wick material. I didn't do that with cigarettes, and I don't want to do it when I vape, either. Some people love the tinkering. I myself, don't. (FYI, I also tried rolling my own cigs for a while, and hated that too. Curious if the tinkerers were also rollers when they smoked) I wasn't always searching for the best lighter on the market, or the newest cigarette technology. Again, to me, that doesn't make sense to do when I vape. I do see the appeal of doing it, it just doesn't appeal to ME.

Everybody is saying "famous last words". I... really don't think so. I can't say no for sure, but I can't see what would make me upgrade. I also hear a lot of "You should at least get a VV". I HAD a VV. My first battery was a Twist, and I was wholly unimpressed. For one thing, it didn't seem to matter what voltage I vaped at. I didn't ever notice an appreciable difference in taste or amount of vapor, except if I turned it up past like 3.8, everything I vaped, burned. Yeah, that was money well spent on THAT battery. And then it disintegrated 3 months after I bought it. The ring that holds the power button just came off. The whole thing fell apart. It was never dropped or mistreated, either.

Sure, I could just think I "have it good" because I've never tried much else.

I get some "Oh... you're still using THAT??" like there's something wrong with me.

Is anyone else still using "basic" equipment and happy with it?

I'm right there with you (almost)! Preferred setup is a mini Protank 2 mini and itaste vv 3.0, though most of the time I'm using an evod tank and ego battery. Hubby is all into sub ohms, dripping, mods...but I'm not. I hate getting looked down on when we go into high-end shops.

Hey, if you have gear you're happy with, you're happy. And I'm happy for you!
I WAS happy with Ego's...until I wasn't.

I just wanted something with a LITTLE more "kick" and got a big clunky one. It works well, and I like it.
But for quite a while, I still used Ego's unless I was sitting at my desk.
Recently though I have moved into a bigger device even when mobile - partly cause I like having more "oomph" and partly because my Egos started to fade - I was looking at replacing 4 or 5 of them over the next few months. Still got one compact enough for a pocket, but the Ego's are now in "backup" roles.

Bottom line - people keep getting new stuff because
a) they are NOT satisfied with what they have or
b) It's fun - shopping, buying and trying out new stuff...

If you don't need to scratch those itches, GREAT!

I still use two eGos when I'm out of the house. Bottom line is if you're happy with what you're using, there isn't a reason to upgrade. In many cases, I doubt that people "need" all the devices they have. It's more of a hobby than anything else. And there are those are are more picky, never satisfied, have to have the latest and greatest. Vaping doesn't have to be expensive.

Eh. Some people have made it a hobby. Doesn't mean everyone needs to. If it keeps you from smoking, then it's a great set up. Truth be told, I don't even think I really need VV or VW. I'm finding with the MVP that my typical sweet spot is at 8 watts. I could do the math and buy suitable coils to achieve that, but I'm just too lazy. Plus, with my commute, I had an extra incentive to buy something that could charge my phone as well. To each their own.

I felt the same way when I switched from a cig-a-like to a ego twist and a protank 2. Thought that was all I would ever need. As you said I never cared about upgrading my analogs, or lighter.

Then I hit a friends Kayfun lite +/ provari combo....(insert "throw wallet at screen pic")

Eta: Bronze beat me to it! I will add now I think it can't get any better...we see what happens next month! As long as I don't try anything else I'm good...but this damn site will suggest something!

I started out with the blu....and while it was ok and helped me to start into vaping def not happy with it ;)
I moved to a vv ego and that was my only pv and I still use it...but at times I do still revert to cig-a-likes for a day or two
my new baby is the Tecs (a vamo clone) and am happy with it :)

but yes to each their own...what works for one isn't always a fit of another....I mean jesh look at how many different cig types there are and different tobacco items out there (snuff, pipe, cigars, cigarettes, ect) likewise there are many types of vape gear and juices :)

I think for most vaping is more of a hobby now than a way to quit smoking ;) and for others they are still looking for their happy place...glad that you have found yours. And at the moment I have found mine with the TECs, vv ego back-up and the occasional cig-a-like lol
for me it's just juices taste different on different devices/tanks.

I've always been happy with my evods & ego twist. I vape at the lowest setting so I might as well have the regular ego lol.

I do like my rebuildables though cuz I like to have the coil last longer, which they do when I rebuild them vs when they come from a factory.

But that's cool that you found a set up you like. It takes some people a long time & a lot of trial & error.

To paraphrase some other more experienced vapers than I:

Whatever works for you is the best thing for you.

I am still using my ego batteries I got in my starter kit. I bought some better tanks because I wanted glass tanks. Other than that it is what I started with and it works. I may try some mods latter on but for now I am satisfied and analog free.

There are a ton of people here, even long time vaping veterans, who use ego type stuff almost exclusively.

So you are not alone. :)

As a matter of fact, this is one of my favorite ECF Topic Areas:
eGo Type Models

I mostly use my ego stuff all day long, and I've been vaping for 1.5 years, although I do use my REOs as well. I've owned about 30+ other mods, yeah, all the "big stuff". Still love my egos and spinners. :)

I've been vaping for nearly three years now, and I am supremely happy with my simple Tritons (ego-type batts) and mini T3s. :)

I have neither the patience, nor the fine motor skills, nor the eyesight to mess with RBAs/RDAs. :D

Some day I do plan to pick up an MVP2, but just for the gob-smacking battery life!

There are also times (especially around my family) when I actually prefer my 78mm or 101mm cigalikes, with a mini clearo. They just look so "neat" and sweet. :)

Don't be pressured into anything! :2cool:

Nothing wrong with being happy and sticking with basic equipment :)

I own A LOT of PV's and I've held in my hand and tried MANY MANY more that I didn't choose to purchase during the over 3 years I've been vaping. I didn't start vaping to save money and for a long time I enjoyed trying different vaping toys even though I didn't need them to keep me vaping. New stuff and tinkering just doesn't hold much interest for me anymore. Simple is what I prefer now.

We're all different and whatever works to keep anyone vaping is the perfect vaping toys for them :) Enjoy !
