I have positively decided to buy an e-cig. But first I have a few questions.

Well to start off, I am on average, a pack a day smoker. I want to quit and do something healthier, while still getting my nicotine; I don't want to keep having tar lungs, I want to be able to exercise again. I have had a Nicotrol inhaler in the past, but it sucks. No taste, the highest nicotine level is low compared to e-cigs, you can't really feel anything, and it has no vapor. To be honest, the only way I could get some sort buzz from it, was when I took the cap off and took a big hit by snorting from the cartridge . It was nothing like a real cigarette, which is why I look forward to buying an e-cig.

1. At first I was looking at the SS Choice No. 7 Micro, at ecigaretteschoice.com

I did some research after that and found the DSE901. I here it is a very good product and drags very well compared to other e-cigs, not to mention, much cheaper than the No. 7 Micro. Which do you guys think is better?

2. Is there an e-cig that is the length of a regular cigarette, and looks like a regular cigarette, that is just as good as the DSE901? In other words, what is the best overall e-cig, that looks like an actual cigarette? (I'm mostly talking about how well it drags)

3. On average, how long does an atomizer last?

4. I don't fully understand why you can't just use the same cartridge over and over, and just fill it up with e-liquid, when it's running low, Please explain why you can't do this. How many times can you refill a blank cartridge until you have to throw it away?

5. I heard some juices produce more vapor than others, is this true? if so, which juice produces the most vapor?

6. Last question. Can you all post an exact link of an e-liquid that has the highest nicotine level? The highest I could find was 36mg; that should be more than enough for me, but I'm just curious to see what's out there.

Thanks for the help, I look forward to reading your replies.

Awesome! Welcome to vaping! :)

The DSE901 is one of the best models out today, especially for a beginning vaper. Out of the two the DSE901 is the better choice.
2. Is there an e-cig that is the length of a regular cigarette, and looks like a regular cigarette, that is just as good as the DSE901? In other words, what is the best overall e-cig, that looks like an actual cigarette? (I'm mostly talking about how well it drags)

There are e-cigs that look much like analog (traditional) cigarettes, such as the mini and super mini. Give those a search up on youtube or google and you can read up on them. In short they both produce good vapor but they're not as good as the DSE901, or the Joye 510.
3. On average, how long does an atomizer last?

Atomizers are all different, no two are the exact same. Sure, there are atomizers made specifically for certain model e-cigs, but when I say no two are the same I mean that each one will serve you differently. That is to say there is no expiration date on them. It all depends on the quality of the atomizer as well as the care that you give it. Atomizers will last you a good long while, up to a couple months. Keep her moist and she'll serve you well. ;)

4. I don't fully understand why you can't just use the same cartridge over and over, and just fill it up with e-liquid, when it's running low, Please explain why you can't do this. How many times can you refill a blank cartridge until you have to throw it away?

You can on some models! On the DSE901, 801, and Joye 510's, as well as many others, you can reuse the carts as many times as you please. When your cart starts running low, drops a few drops of juice into the cart, a drop or two on the atty, and you're ready to vape! Some people don't like to refill carts too many times, as they start to lose their absorption, but you can get a good week or two out of one cart.

5. I heard some juices produce more vapor than others, is this true? if so, which juice produces the most vapor?

This is true. Unfortunately there's really no 100% scientific determination on which liquids will produce more than others, it's really trial and error. Awesomevapor.com has great vape, as well as totallywicked-eliquid.com, as well as many others. Just test the waters and see what you like.

6. Last question. Can you all post an exact link of an e-liquid that has the highest nicotine level? The highest I could find was 36mg; that should be more than enough for me, but I'm just curious to see what's out there.

36mg is an extremely strong nicotine content. The average regular cigarette is only 20mg of nicotine, so you're effectively vaping a cig and a half. My advice is to go ahead and go with 18 or 24mg to start. Like I said, 36mg is pretty hefty stuff.

Happy vaping!

You can always replace the filler in the carts if you don't get a cartomizer (that's where the atomizer and the cartridge are an all-in-one piece).

Generally people buy the higher nic in order to cut it and flavor it to their liking.

Happy vaping!

Just added a couple of notes to the above.

Thanks, Sudo. :)

I like to give normal practice advice to those new to the craft, helps keep things simple. The average joe just wants to pick up and e-cig, stick a cart on, and vape away.

This is, of course, in reference to the cutting of liquid. Most average users won't do it, they're too paranoid. :D

As for the replacement filler, absolutely. Using poly fiber wadding (which you can get at a craft store - just make sure it's not flame ......ant!) you can effectively make a single cart last... well... forever!

Not to be a ****, but you make a few drug-related references in your original post. Remember, e-cigs are not a magic-bullet to smoking cessation. Many vapers have used e-cigs to successfully wean themselves off tobacco; myself included. My responses to your questions are inline with your first post.

1. At first I was looking at the SS Choice No. 7 Micro, at ecigaretteschoice.com

The 901 is considered a very good introductory device to vaping. It will not set you back a lot of bucks, and is a good way to determine if vaping is for you.

2. Is there an e-cig that is the length of a regular cigarette, and looks like a regular cigarette, that is just as good as the DSE901? In other words, what is the best overall e-cig, that looks like an actual cigarette? (I'm mostly talking about how well it drags)

Many forum members believe if it looks like a real cigarette, performance will be mediocre. While I generally agree with this statement (because anything that looks like a real cigarette, cannot, on average, accurately recreate the vapor production and throat hit one might expect from an analog cigarette), light smokers find these devices to be quite satisfying.

3. On average, how long does an atomizer last?

One second to several months. Normally, I would say that 3-6 weeks is a good average life of an atomizer. There are so many factors that affect atomizer life, it is hard to give a particularly accurate life estimate.

4. I don't fully understand why you can't just use the same cartridge over and over, and just fill it up with e-liquid, when it's running low, Please explain why you can't do this. How many times can you refill a blank cartridge until you have to throw it away?

You can. Even after you start a new cartridge, when you vape off the e-liquid, you will have to add a few drops to the cartridge stuffing to keep it moist. That topping off can be quite frequent if you are vaping alot. Most vapers who use cartridges will periodically wash and rinse the filler and cartridge, let it dry and refill. When the cartridge filler material gets to a point you say to yourself "Yuck", it is time to retire that filler material.

5. I heard some juices produce more vapor than others, is this true? if so, which juice produces the most vapor?

Most commercially available e-liquids produce good vapor. Those that contain a higher amount of glycerine seem to produce more vapor. Flavoring additives to e-liquid may increase or decrease vapor production, but that type of chemistry is beyond my comprehension. It is not possible to state that one brand of e-liquid produces more vapor than another brand. Don't worry about it.

6. Last question. Can you all post an exact link of an e-liquid that has the highest nicotine level? The highest I could find was 36mg; that should be more than enough for me, but I'm just curious to see what's out there.

In my experience, a liquid that is 36mg in strength should satisfy most anyone with a nicotine addiction. That does not mean you should vape a 36mg liquid all day, but it can help stave off cravings. I used 36mg liquids when I had 'withdrawl' symptoms and used 24mg and 18mg liquids throughout the day. The Chinese e-liquid producers are now limited to creating a maximum of 26mg strength eliquid. If you think you will need a higher concentration of nicotine, you could look at nhaler.com, myfreedomsmokes.com and totallywicked.com for those specific needs.

Thanks for the help, I look forward to reading your replies.

I am a newbie - but I will give my 2 pennies, opinions and the knowledge I have gained thus far. I invite corrections where I may be mistaken.

I am a "510" fan so far...and can only state I am happy I was guided (pushed and shoved and beat into) to it. I too wanted a real looking e-cig too. Glad tho, I went the 510 way. There are however many stout/devout 901 fans here too. I am soon buying a Screwdriver or Prodigy... I am hooked on the manual switch and threw away an "auto" battery.
2. Is there an e-cig that is the length of a regular cigarette, and looks like a regular cigarette, that is just as good as the DSE901? In other words, what is the best overall e-cig, that looks like an actual cigarette? (I'm mostly talking about how well it drags)
If you can get over the "length/looks like an actual cigarette" thing, I think you'll be much happier with your choices and final selection.
The real cig thing severly limits battery life and performance from what I have read. The supermini I tried was not that satisfying and felt like I was sucking a bowling ball through a garden hose.

I think Drag/Draw is a very subjective item, like taste.
Parliment analogs "draw" differently than a Misty120 analog.

3. On average, how long does an atomizer last?
I would say 30-60 days depending on your model, usage and care. I know some superminis and cartomizer models are considerably less - on average.

4. I don't fully understand why you can't just use the same cartridge over and over, and just fill it up with e-liquid, when it's running low, Please explain why you can't do this. How many times can you refill a blank cartridge until you have to throw it away?
On some you can. I have refilled my first cart so many times it is basically worn and cracked. The filler does become ?saturated? or doesnt wick well after some time, ?possibly from the heat of the atty?, so that does need to be replaced.

5. I heard some juices produce more vapor than others, is this true? if so, which juice produces the most vapor?
This is very true. VG based juices usually have more vapor.
I have tried many different juices so far, and the equipment being the same, VG based juices produce much more vapor than the PG ones. I have grown to love ECOpure Rich (innovapor.com), and it almost makes too much vapor! But juice selection should not be made on vapor alone. I have one RY4 that makes very little vapor, and I actually like it that way.
Also different/amount flavorings can effect the amount of vapor from the same base or company - in my experiments. Your results may vary.

6. Last question. Can you all post an exact link of an e-liquid that has the highest nicotine level? The highest I could find was 36mg; that should be more than enough for me, but I'm just curious to see what's out there.
60mg is available here and Nhaler is a great group too - but the highest recommend is 24mg - more and you could be asking for trouble.
60 MG Eliquid for DYI AND MIXING ONLY

Thanks for the help, I look forward to reading your replies.

In your bushes, watching you undress
The smaller an e-cig (the more cigarette-like) the lower performance you're likely to get. Many here including myself prefer the 510 (Janty Dura/Titan/Yeti/host of other branded names) because it is only a little longer, but packed with flavor and vapor production.

IMO the Sidesho from ModernVapor.com is the best of the smaller sized units.Darn near the same flavor and vapor production as a 510, but closer to a cig (100 maybe anyway) and uses a very convenient PCC (portable charging case) that holds enough batts (plus charging one) and carts to last all day for a pack to pack and a half a day smoker. You can do a white to look like a cig or black, red, blue, silver... whatever.

You can refill your own carts cheaply and easily also. See my reviews on it in the ModernVapor section of the forum.
