FINALLY got my first coil/wick setup working on my cobra RBA. I've got mount baker vapor's moon dog in it right now and I can swear I'm picking up notes that I wasn't while vaping it from a cartomizer. Coil came out to 1.6 ohms (3/4 wrap it looks like), and it's sitting on my ProVari right now.

But... a couple of questions:

What would be the best method to go about maximizing my clouds with whatever juice I happen to be vaping? Lower gauge/higher diameter wire? How many wraps?

Also, the air hole diameter is 1.0mm I believe on the cobra, which is a slightly stiffer draw than I'm used to. I hear people fault the ZAP for being too airy of a draw, and I'm pretty sure I've seen it has a 1.5mm air hole. What's the most reliable way to bore the hole out a little more if I so desire (thinking maybe 1.2mm for a happy medium), or should I just get used to the draw and not risk flubbing something on a $150 atomizer.

Also, it seems to be discoloring my liquid a bit. It's normally clear but there's a small pool of darker colored liquid forming around my wick that's submerged in the wick. No off flavors though. Should I be worried? What would be the cause of that? It's a 50/50 blend if that helps. Wicks fine so far, been chain vaping with minimal tilting, very loooooong individual pulls though

I appreciate any help from the RBA vets that could be offered. I'm really just psyched I "got over the hill" so to speak.

The Cobra isn't known for being a huge fog machine, due to the smallish air hole. Some folks drill it out. I haven't with mine. The firm draw is kinda "trademark" Cobra. Some like it; some don't. I think it's one of the best RBAs out there. I have two of them.
The discoloration is normal. It's just caramelization of the sugars in the juice. It happens with some juices more than others.

just use a dril. bit slightly larger then the airhole, even if your trying say 1.5 i would go to 1.2 first then up one more.
it is 1 mm to start. if you mess it up albavapors(the creators) sell xtra caps. just go slow and be careful, it is titanium and will eat drillbits if you try to force anything.

like rule said its the burnt stuff dripping back into the tank from the wick, sounds like its a heavily oxidized wick also.

i own the 3& 5 ml and the cobra draw pretty much ruined the other geni's for me i love it.

Honestly if you could just get used to it and vape for a week with the cobra and nothing else....it will ruin all other gennys for you like Trasher said. Once you get used to it it makes other atomizers seem airy and tasteless.

Just to make sure you don't have any obstructions.... jam a large needle in the air hole and keep turning it and see if it opens up the draw a little. Lately it seems a lot of the cobras have obstructions in their air holes....mine did.

i agree on the airhole. hated it at first, but after getting used to it, i like it a lot. so smooth! i contemplate drilling it out just slightly sometimes, to maybe 1.1-1.2mm...but not sure it seems necessary. still experimenting with wire/coil setups. what is everybody using as far as wire and wraps on their cobras? i'm using a 5 wrap of 32g @ 2ohms...

That is a pretty good set up for the Cobra. I'm running just slightly less. I'm at 1.7 ohms with 4 wraps.

Use brute forcee to raise it a half millimeter...then use small flat head screw drivers like a crow bar and push it up. Incrementally use larger and larger screw drivers until it is about half centimeter of the base....then it will be easy for you to take it off.

how about a jack hammer?

DARN. I'm looking for a mini tank rba now and the Cobra mini, although out of stock, was looking just right for me. I know I'll break the Pyrex. Maybe the mini is not like that? Anyone know? Ok I "liked" everybody so maybe some help will come. I'm not in a huge hurry. Been looking for awhile. The draw is what I'm attracted to. I currently have floral tape all around the new Pyrex Pro Tank base to plug it up....way too airy and I'm just ready for more RBA more than ever since I did the right thing and got Phoenix clone for beginners and saw what they meant about hard hitting. It actually delivers more nic some how. So... If Cobra is a no no for a non technical in any way steer me in the right direction. I do want mini. I like little tiny coils with lots of wraps and not a whole lot of wick. I love mt Reo bottom feeder but remain loyal to pyrex glass tanks. I know I can get as good or better results with a RBA one. Ok? Help? Or am I stealing a thread .... I do that a lot. Think because the only few times I started tread no one hopped on!

lol....yeah you almost need a jackhammer to get the dang pyrex of a Cobra. Hey did you ever get one?

not yet, but i definatly will within the next couple of weeks. theres one in another thread here, i think its "posts your pictures of your cobra" or something like that, and i seen a purple one, it looks really nice on a black provari, very classy. you know i just recieved an ac-9 clone, its ok i guess for the money but i think it is going to be my last clone or last cheapy atty. for the money their not bad, but once you get used to a quality device its kind of hard to vape the cheapy ones. this ac-9 clone isnt bad, but its the little things that make me pick up my nice gennys and vape them instead, so i wind up really not vaping the cheapy ones that much, and now i am saying i should of taken that 37 dollars and put it towards a cobra.
