I don't know. However, I would like to say that your idea seems terrible. Why would you want to sit in one place and smoke when you don't have to. Batteries are cheap if you know where to find them. My last deal was like $9 a piece. I use up three batteries in a whole day and just keep them interchanging in the charger when I am home. The batteries last from around 3 hours to 5 hours. Depends on how long you charge them. I noticed that when the charger light goes green it is not always done charging. If you want to use a passthrough go for it but your going to pay the price of 2 batteries I bet for it.

I wouldn't sit in one place all day lol...but assuming I did and was tethered to the computer....
I just want to know what the advantage is and what the big deal is?

Actually i was just reading in another thread about this. Someone said that the price would be better. Something like $5 for the atty and $15 for the pass through. That is the only advantage i know of, sorry. However, starter kits can be as low as 35 for 2 batteries, 2 atty, 5 carts, and a wall charger. I wouldn't buy a pass through. I like leaving the computer. Ok so maybe i don't like to leave but i still have to and wouldn't want to miss out on vaping time.

It's a very simple idea, it's basically a battery that is connected by a cord to your USB. The power passes through the battery and into the atty. So technically yes you would not have to buy anything else. I have not bought one yet but mainly because I have heard that some of them die on you and I really don't like the thought of having another cord running around my computer. I have enough already.

Hey guys, the advantage of a PT (passthrough) becomes apparent when you realize that the batteries start to fail after a certain amount of charging cycles. After a certain amount of time, they hold their charge for less and less time until they finally become useless and you can only vape a few minutes till it dies. So, you use the PT when your immobile and use batteries while mobile then you don't have to pay to replace batteries as often.

There are 2 types of Passthru. 1 type has an inline battery that constantly charges as it is connected to the USB port. the advantage of it is that once it has reached charge you can in fact disconnect it and go mobile with it. The other type is simply a direct USB to device connection that must be plugged in to use. both types (for the 501 at least) connect like a regular battery would.
And yes you will still need Attys and carts and juice, or at least atty and juice if you plan on dripping

Oh, and when the batteries do start to lose their ability to hold a charge, keeping them on the charger longer, even overnight, will not fix the problem. So either be prepared to pay for more batteries, use a PT and car adaptor or get something like the Bartelby that lets you charge via USB at the same time as you are vaping. Some, like my sister, just keep buying batteries because she likes the convenience.

I have a Joye510 permanently attached to a usb wall adapter at my computer. When I'm there, I vape from this pv. No drain on my battery operated units. If I spend a few hours there, no concerns other than topping off a cart. If I wish, I can keep a different flavor on my pv attached to my pt and another flavor on my pocket pv. It works out really well. In time, you'll migrate to a similar system, I believe. JMO

the passthrough is basically a plugged in battery unit.. so yes you would still need atty and carts..

the advantage to it is.. that the 510 batteries are not all that great.. so if you could plug one in when you are at the computer in the car, if you get a wall adapter at your couch instead of having to use up your battery.. then the battery could be used at times that you are away from any place to plug in at..

I agree with one of the other posters...I use my New Vapor King pass-though (The BEST on the market IMHO re-enforced heavy wire) with a 901 to 510 adapter into a wall socket adapter and drip... or with the carts when I'm lazier LOL... and only use my batteries when I'm at work or out and about...I believe it saves me money and my batteries last longer....
It may be my imagination but I think the Vapor King pass-through creates TONS more vapor than the 510 pass-through or batteries too...

Also with a PT you have a "fixed benchmark" to know when batteries are in fact getting weak- no guessing. Higher voltage PT is nice for burn cleaning atty (better to be manual PT) and some juices vape different on a higher voltage PT than 3.1 battery for instance.
Doubt I would spend 50 bucks on one, but for 10-15.00 they are something I would never be w/o.;)
