I agree about the nicotine- I think it's great if anyone can quit cigarettes no matter what. Being hooked on nicotine is not a problem, IMO. I happen to know from my quit attempts though, my nicotine addiction is not overpowering. I certainly go through withdrawal, but it's not a big deal. The habit of sneaking off by myself and having a smoke, or practically chain smoking when I have a beer or a glass of wine... Or hanging out chatting with smokers... that social addiction is extremely difficult for me! I also have a serious issue with rebelling against myself when I tell myself I can't have something.
If you understand how nicotine works, the slight anxiety you feel when you haven't had it is caused by the levels diminishing. Stressors from daily life make you remember the relief you get from replacing the nicotine, and quickly you associate the two. After reading about this, it made absolute sense to me.
When you unhook yourself from nicotine, you actually remove a stress from your daily life, you don't add one.
You are no longer feeling the stress of diminishing nicotine levels.
I am lucky that I don't seem to have big problems withdrawing from it. But I still plan to keep nicotine in my vapor for a food few weeks or perhaps months.
After saying all that, I want to emphasize I truly am not trying to insult anyone's choices. I just know I personally am not as addicted to nicotine as other people I know.
Trust me, I have other addictions. People joke about chocolate addiction... The other day I bought a 6 pack of Hershey bars for s'mores. About 12 hours later I had eaten 4. 18 hours later they were all gone and I had to tell my kids I had forgotten to buy the chocolate. And they were like, "right." this type of things happens all the time.
A pint of ice cream? I can spread that over a week. Oreos? Yuck. Doughnuts? Meh.
Chocolate? I have gone through stages where I have eaten about 1/3 lb a day. I figured it out once.
I also sometimes write really long rambley posts all about myself. That's an issue as well.
