I just realized I haven't been smoking for over a year and a half!

How the time flies by!

Me and the lady just celebrated our three years anniversary at Black Hawk Colorado (Early April). It's where we first went after we got together and decided to make it a yearly thing. I actually proposed to her this year at the casino! (Well not in the casino but a more romantic place.)

Sitting here surfing the web I just realized that last year on our anniversary, she made the comment "you haven't used your "smoker" all day". It was one of the first times I didn't bring it with me and never even realized!

When I first stopped analogs, I vaped non stop all day. I would go through two Kanger tanks a day. A year ago at the casino I went through maybe one to one and a half a day but didn't need it on me constantly. IE: I could go for long periods of time without it.

Fast forward to today. A Kanger pro tank 2 lasts me 7-14 days minimum. If I forget to bring it to work I no longer panic and have the fiance bring it to me.

My lungs feel amazing! I've actually been able to exercise on a regular basis without my asthma kicking in.

About my asthma. I had it when i was young, but went away as I got older. I started smoking around 17 and around 20-21 it came back. Very little at first but after years of smoking it came back with a vengeance! At the end of smoking I was going through an inhaler a week. NOW I go through one every two-three months. It's been amazing to actually breath again. I can cough without having to immediately hit my inhaler.

The money savings makes me feel rich, and I have used that money to buy a bike and am working on a saltwater tank!

I don't know why I feel the need to share my story, other than I hope some smoker out there will read it and be motivated to stop smoking. Maybe vaping will be linked to cancer in the future (the tobacco companies will do anything to make a buck), but at least I can breath again and enjoy life. We have a hike planned this weekend to Horsetooth rock and I'm sure I will make it no problem!

Thanks for reading!

Congratulations! You should be proud. And the fact that the realization came as a surprise, that is cause for celebration and hope for all of us! Thank you for posting this.

Just got back from my run and am feeling great! I can't even believe I lost count. The first 6 months or so I could tell you the exact day hour and second I quit smoking. I used to see actors smoking in movies and my mouth would water, literally water like I saw a juicy steak in front of me. Now I just feel bad for them...

Thank you for sharing your story and congratulations!

Thanks for the reply and I really hope my story can at least convince one person to switch. I really feel like it saved my life, or at least has let me enjoy life to the fullest!

Thank you Orangecape! I really appreciate success stories because I'm attempting to give up the cigs.

My problem is that I was recently told by Dr that allergies have kicked me into some asthma and I'm not a spring chicken! Smoked 44 years! Anyway....question: I'm having trouble inhaling the eGo OR the Blu. I can see the difference now between disposables and the eGo now that I've tried it....amazing. Problem is it tends to cause me to be wheezy when I haven't been all day! So I'm going to write a post about this and other questions and see if this can work for me. Hoping! In the meantime, thanks again!! Posts like this give me hope that I can do this (when I see other people who have had asthma that it worked for). My asthma hasn't been long-term...and is linked to allergies (I have 3 cats) and possibly other body changes.

You get wheezy after you vape, or just all the time? When I used to smoke all the time I was wheezy constantly. But now I only wheeze around things I'm allergic to. I do notice the first few vapes when I wake up are a little harsher on my lungs than they are the rest of the day. Also different juices are more harsher than others. For example green apple from mount Baker is pretty harsh on my lungs, however pear flavor is super gentle on my lungs. I'm really happy that you are trying to quit after 44 years. I don't think I could be that strong!

That's the most noble reason one can post their story in these forums. You'll never know how many lives your story will save, but just knowing that it could convince a smoker who would have otherwise died of cancer to quit their deadly habit makes it all worthwhile.

And don't worry... I drive these folks crazy with my long and rambling stories, so they're used to it. Yours is more inspirational than any of mine, though.

Mazel Tov on your victory over smoking.

First I want to say thanks to everyone who has responded with positive messages, it really does help even if you don't think it does. I just wanted to give an UPDATE!

Today I went on my two mile run and didn't need to hit my inhaler even once! (usually I need it 1-3 times) THE BEST PART ABOUT IT WAS I noticed I started breathing out of my chest instead of my stomach. Probably still 70% stomach and 30% chest, BUT STILL!! HOLY SMOKES!!! (No pun intended) My lungs must be healing or something!

I have received several PMs asking me questions and I am sorry that I don't answer them in a more timely manner, but please KEEP asking me!

Hey Orange! Thanks for the update! I've had two awesome things happen this week. First, I bought a bike! I rode four miles and didn't feel like I needed an ambulance! lol Never coulda happened if I was still smoking. Second, I passed my 100-day mark! I'm such a happy camper! More bike riding tomorrow. This is awesome!

Congratulations to you!
