I always choose priority mail (USPS) and I have received all delivers in 3 days by the mailman.
If your not home, depending if the sender requested a signature or not will determine if he will leave it without anyone home and also if its safe to leave it. If not the post man will leave one of those yellow slip thingys.
9/10 times it gets left in the mailbox that other 1 time it's either sent by fedex or the mailman actually leaves it in the back of my truck since we have an arrangement.
Of course, I walk to work.... it tends to help there.
We live in a small town so the mailman will either leave it in the mailbox or hang it to the mailbox door handle with a large rubber band if it's too large. Usually it doesn't go that far because I follow tracking and when I see it will be at our post office that day I call them and tell them I'll pick it up there that morning at 9 a.m., since our mail doesn't get delivered until 3 in the afternoon.
Sometimes living in a small town is a good thing.
There is definitely an advantage living in a small town. I use a PO box and if my package is delivered durnig the week they leave a notice and I go to the window to pick it us. They are closed on Saturdays and if I get a package on the weekend they put it in a lock box (they only have a few).
