I learned my lesson about using PGA in my juice. I was tweaking out a new Coil & SS wick on my phoenix clone and spark from a lose post set the cup on fire. (my best guess at what happened)



*Note* we're only talking about the size of lighter flame here and it went out in a less then a half a second so lets not let this story get out of hand but there is a real hazard here.

Hah! How much PGA was in there?

Just thought I'd chime in and say that I believe that PG and VG can ignite as well, and could very well be more responsible.

It could also be the burn off from the ss wick. A local vendor got a did and I was helping him with the coil.. he didn't fully cure(oxides) the wick and once he got a working coil around it you could use it like a lighter. Was funny as hell..

The juice was 0 nic that I had just roughed out in a measuring cup (400 ml batch). It doesn't taste like it had more then about 5% in it but who knows for sure, the pg / VG was about 70/30. I was testing at 5 volts with a ~2.7 or less coil … I was taking a loop back on the coil so I can't say on that one either.

The SS not being fully oxidized sounds like a plausible explanation too.

Oh, yeah. A short to a SS wick can easily ignite PG or VG. It'd tend to work like an oil lamp (or a zippo,) at that point. I just lit a bit of silica wick with VG in it with a bic lighter out of curiosity.

I just got testing it again, pure VG is defiantly flammable and will ignite against a very hot coil ... hmm, I learn something new every day =)

It sure is... For that matter, isn't PG technically an alcohol? I know if I have the cap off my Mark-T and dry burn the remaining juice in the SS Mesh wick, about the time the coil just starts to glow it ignites.
