Been DIY juices for about a year now. Finally quit smoking reg. cigs Jan-1-2014, I was smoking 2 reg cigs/day before that. Now I am trying to get used to 0 nic so maybe I can completely wean off nic but as most know there's no TH. I use my 0 nic cig about half the time, the rest I hit my 18mg flavor. Just not getting any TH with the 0 Nic. I think if I could get some TH with my 0 Nic I could get off the Nic juice.

Been searching all night about some using PGA or Everclear for a TH in 0 Nic juice, one post said brine from Japiphinoes don't know about that idea. Spill some Everclear on the table and it will catch fire with a lighter. What keeps it from catching fire from a red hot e-cig coil? Maybe since its deluted thats why, I have no idea.

Also, normally I use 20% flavor to all my juices and my PG/VG ratio is 62/38. If I start using everclear how much should I add? I have read anywheres from 5-10%.

I JUST recently started my DIY adventure, so I've not YET tried this myself.........

The guy I order from uses capsicum to add TH. I get it added to every juice I order from him. I like the TH. It doesn't add to or take away from the flavors that I've gotten from him.

When I started researching, I found "Capsicum Heat" at ECX. With further research on how to properly use it, I decided to order it. So, here's what I found as far as diluting it first...

From We2rcool:
If we want to increase TH or add "heat" for a zing (without adding flavor), we now use "Capsicum Heat" by Flavor West (from ECX)...but it IS volatile! We dilute 5 drops into 10mls of VG, and use that (for starters) at around 2%.

I hope this helps you. I haven't had time to sit and play with very much of my stuff yet, but I sure plan to this weekend...

I've never found PGA to add TH, but I keep seeing posts that say it does.

It doesn't ignite. You might be able to ignite a puddle of it if you hold a dry coil firing above it if you get the distance above the surface just right. A wet coil wouldn't even come close. The cooling from evaporation keeps it well below flash point. (and if there is no PGA in it to cool it, then there is also no PGA there to ignite)

What exactly does PGA do for a mix? Does it enhance flavors or help with mouth dryness?

I use PGA to thin TA and others use it for extracting flavors from raw material such as coffee and tobacco leaves. Some super concentrates have it in there flavoring I would gather as a solvent to disolve raw solid flavor molecules. This is generally undesirable and aired off at mixing time.

If the wick is dry enough, and the coil gets hot enough and opens, the resulting spark is hot enough to ignite alcohol vapor.

I had a Halo Minitank go off on me. It was on a manual fire battery sitting in a tray with way too much stuff on it, the tank was empty but the wick was still 'wet'. It somehow got forced on with all the crap on the tray (my bad). "POP" and the tip shot across the room, separated half the tube from the base, and frizzed up the wick a bit. I checked the coil afterwards and found it open. This is a very isolated incident, but under certain circumstances, it can happen. I'm guessing at why, but I don't think I'm that far off. The e-juice had alcohol in it, if anyone can come to a different conclusion, I'm open to it. Now I'm paranoid about it, perhaps needlessly, but still paranoid. I don't want a tip shot down my throat, so I avoid all alcohol in e-juice. Never say "it can't", or "it won't". It can, and it has.

Edit: I don't think a properly working coil can get hot enough, but a spark caused by a short or an open can certainly be hot enough to ignite a flammable vapor.
