I was sitting out front of Safeway with our dogs while the husband and kids did some grocery shopping. This man comes up to me with a bag of dog food and some groceries and puts them in front of me and says "you and your dogs look so cold and hungry! I just had to help.". I was so shocked I couldn't say anything and he left. Husband comes out and looks at me, puzzled. I told him it may be time for me to get some new clothes.......

OMG....that made me chuckle...Although I guess I'd feel compelled to donate the dog food to the local shelter...

That's a great story. From the humor in your situation to the kindness and caring spirit of the man who gave to you.

I had something similar happen to me once. I had been to a downtown festival and got tired and sat down on some building steps. It was hot and sunny (Santa Barbara), my head was sweating, so I took my wide-brimmed hat off. Some men walked by me, looked at me and dropped money into my hat. I was so embarrassed that I had to explain that I was just resting. I tried to give their money back, but they told me to keep it and buy myself a drink during happy hour. I always wear a hat because being a natural redhead, I have fair skin. But I'll never set it down beside me on the sidewalk anymore, LOL.

That is just too funny!

I have one.. For several years when I was 18-20 or so I kept my head shaved. I had always had super-long hair and one day just decided to shave it off. I had a little convertible car and it was always blowing in my face. So I was working at the jewelry counter at Wal-mart, and a lady came up to me and asked me how I was doing. I said, fine, thank you, how are you? And then she proceeded to tell me that she and her church were praying for me and wishing me the best. Bless her heart, she thought I had cancer. I had to tell her that that was so sweet, but that I am perfectly healthy, just like to keep my head shaved.

My son keeps his head shaved too. It really annoys me because he has a thick full head of black hair! He finally grew it out because he was tired of me harping and it was my mother's day gift..he was surprised to find out that the ladies preferred it that way!
MrsJaax..I can't imagine a lovey lady like yourself without your beautiful hair!
I bet those Church ladies are STILL praying for you!
Oh, I managed a Walmart Jewelery counter at one time. I had to pierce ears (hated it!) A young kid came in to have his ear pierced for his sitsers wedding..it seems all the groomsmen were wearing blue earrings to match the brides colors (Dufus idea!)
Anyway I put my gloves on and shot the piercing gun in his ear lobe, when I took my hand away the plastic glove was caught in the earring! I grabbed my scissors and cut the glove off at the finger. Now the poor kid has what looks like a condom hanging from his ear! The groom was laughing too hard to be of any help and the kid and I were red faced. The Bride finally got the glove loose .. the piercing was free. :)

ROFLOL, Mary Kay, you are a hoot! I almost passed out when I got my ears pierced. I felt fine, but all the piercers were asking me if I was ok since I went white in the face. They made me sit down for a while before I left the salon.

Well, I'm going to have a butch cut after summer. I'm growing my hair for someone else, and when I get it cut, it will be cut flush with the scalp. It's about nipple length right now, so I don't have too much further to go. I'm thinking spring through summer will give me another inch or two. If you've seen my profile photo, you've seen how thick it is, so maybe it won't look so bad. This will be a real shock since I've never had short hair, always at least mid-neck length.

Sea..insead of butch..why not a pixie? We are talkinh about 2 inches that will make the differance between cute and ...well...butch! What is the minimum donatable lengh?
My Grandson has his curly hair almost long enough.

They form a pony tail first and then cut..right?

Yes, a pixie would do, but I thought I would donate as much as I can. I've even thought of getting maybe a jaw or shoulder-length wig (same color as my hair) to wear in the interim of butch and pixie. Here in San Diego, the minimum donatable length is 10 inches. And, I'm not really sure about how they cut, if it's ponytail or not. My current length is 16 inches from scalp, but I wanted to wait until maybe just before spring to get it sheared. You know how things grow so quickly in the spring time, that's what I was thinking. Because I take enough antioxidants to kill a horse, LOL, my hair grows soooo fast. It took me only two years to get where I'm at now, so no big deal for me. I like foolin' around w/my hair at different lengths. The only problem w/long hair is that at a certain length, it makes one start to look little girlish again -- one look I'm not aiming for, LOL.

I bow in respect to any man who will donate his hair. Blessings to your grandson!
