I gotta say, I really love turning people onto vaping. I'm a musician, so I'm out a lot playing gigs and meeting people who are smokers. Many of them, of course, ask about my ecig, and usually confess that they want to quit, and have read about ecigs, but don't know how to make the jump. I've managed to give so many people info on how to make the switch, and so far I can count a large number of people I've helped get off analogs. A couple have quit altogether, and those that moved to vaping haven't looked back. It really is an awesome thing to talk to others about. I'm really glad to have this community and to know the people who make it happen. Thank you all!

Heh, it's pretty great. Bars are a great place to tell people about esmoking, especially in the winter ;)

it's funny...I have almost an identical conversation with everyone about e cigarettes

them: so and so bought one of those

me: oh yeah? nice man

them: yeah...I tried it once but they don't really use it anymore

me: did they get it from the mall?

them: yeah

me: YOU CAN'T GET THE MALL ONES....THEYRE A RIPOFF

I can't tell you how many times I've had some variation of that conversation

Ha the mall conversation . SOmetimes these convos get me so stressed out . Im trying to educate people that have a ....ty mall e cig and can never get through to them . Like im speaking a different language . Someone was just telling me about there ecig (knockoff smoke51 ) that they paid 150.00 for and trying to tell me its the best out there . Im trying to tell them info on better and real ones as well as online vendors but then there like well mine is name brand so im sure its great pretty much after telling them a bunch of good info or i get the well this one works good enough for me . lol . Most of the time im vaping on my VV boxmod too so even though it blows their mall ecig away in performance they dont get past the but this mall one looks better .

It seems that first impressions are difficult to overcome with a lot of folks. They try the ripoff ecigs and think they're all the same. I highly advise everyone to grab a spare tip and keep it around so they can try your PV. It's very effective at diminishing that initial notion that all PVs are the same.

I have this experience a lot as well when using my Riva.
Someone: Is that an electronic cigarette?
Me (exhaling light vape due to my high PG ratio): Yep.
Someone: Well, my dad/buddy has one that looks like a real cigarette and blows out way more smoke. The tip even lights up. And they don't have to push a button.

I've learned not to try and push the matter too much. Usually I just say "yeah, I tried those, but they didn't really do it for me." They never listen.

I've given up on the 'tards I work with. I even went as far as getting alcohol wipes so they could try a few drags off mine. They all loved it. Till I started talking money.

These guys are perfectly comfortable spending $10/day on analogs, but plan ahead and wait for the PV to show up, and spend much less? Not happening. Perhaps it's the south GA water.

It's hard to get people to wise up, that's for sure. Some are all about it, others just won't listen... but I tell ya, when someone says that they haven't been on analogs in awhile after you got them interested, it seems much better. I mean, we all know quitting would be best, but if you really like your smoke (like I do), this is the way to roll.

I really don't try to convince smokers (or Mall-ecig users) to use one of the larger PVs ... and certainly not box mods. Normally, I tout a good mini/super-mini like the VOLT (or its equally good, but more expensive 808 brethren, Maxx Fusion and G6). Far superior to the E9 model (e.g., Smoke51), but it is the same size and shape as a "real" cigarette, automatic ... and it does light up at the end.;)

Some seem open to my Elite 808, which is slightly wider and longer (and requires that button press) ... and has three pretty lights at the end. Ooo!:D [NOTE: I think the Elite is a wonderful PV for any vaper – newbie or oldbie.]

But, indeed, many folks are just set in their ways.

Sometimes I want to have a few good disposables on me to give to people so they can try them (if they're already smokers ONLY, of course), which I've thought about.

That's how I feel. Most people either never heard of E-cigs or had the mall stuff. Luckily I've converted 7 people so far, so I'm happy. Some disposables that are GOOD would be a big help though.

I work with a large group of accountants, writers, and computer geeks who like to think of themselves as "healthcare professionals" for some reason. I just know they would lynch me if they knew I chain-vape in my cubicle all day, so I try to keep it on the down-low.

One of the writers that works close heard the EXTREMELY LOUD noise coming from the carto-tank on my ProVari and asked if I was making cappuccino. He kept asking when he would hear the noise, so since he seems like a trustworthy soul, I went ahead and showed him. He seemed fairly interested... said he had seen the ones that "look like cigarettes", but thought this one was better since "people won't think you are smoking."

I handed it to him and he said, "Wow, this is COOL. Do you just press the button?" I could tell he was tempted to give it a try, and I wouldn't have cared if he did (I've smoked LOTS of things after other people had them in their mouths!), but I guess he thought better of it. He seemed really interested when I told him about the handkerchief test. He is either a closet smoker, or he knows a smoker he's worried about. I'm sure this is not our last discussion on the matter.

The people I work with have shown great interest in my pv as well. Luckily I've been able to steer a few towards ego style pvs so they can get a good starter vape and they seem responsive to my banter about vaping.

I think a lot of smokers want to kick the unhealthy (and stinky) analogs, but still want to mimic the same experience they've had for years. This why people new to the vaping world are always enticed by small as a cig/light up end that will mimic their old habit. Many even want burnt tobacco/paper/smoke flavor of their cigs but I try to encourage them to broaden their taste buds.

Keep on preaching the good cause and we'll get through to a few people at a time and start saving lives and continue to grow our community.

That was long winded. Sorry :p
