I smoked 52 years, (67 yo), halfway thru the 3rd pack a day. Been vaping since last June, Nothing but 50/50 or >% VG Cinnamon DIY. Nose dripped most that time. Got at least 3 fever blisters, (no fevers/colds); got facial pimples; and worst of all, I started coughing again. Not one tobacco cigarette in more than 7 months. Decided it might be the Cinnamon. I vape pretty much continuous on days off, and 3.5mL while at work/to/from. No lung or COPD problems as far as I know. But, my nose keeps on dripping. Since I quite the Cinnamon it's improved quit abit. JMHO

Cheers,

I wish I had the answers as well. All we can do as a group is to report our concerns. Therefore, as a group effort we may be able to help ourselves and others. Another concern we may have to ponder is the sweetener that may be added. Or some other stabilizer? I have heard about this. IDK how true since I cannot view a ingredient list from most vendors.

Paging Toto: I am surprised that your lung function has not improved. Have you performed any process of elimination?

When I first started I loved a mix 60/40. This past 4 months I bought a vendors nicliquid that had 50/50. I could not duplicate the recipe. I went through 150ml to realize that something in it was producing a side effect. My right leg would swell up until the skin felt like it was going to burst open. It was very tight. My range of motion on the leg was weird as well. I am such a tightwad I went ahead and vaped it all. All I can say now is: the swelling has gone away.

I recently had a problem with mouth pain and a certain vendors liquid. It is weird I know. I stopped the liquid and the pain is gone. However, I do have numerous problems with my gums/teeth due to chewing nic gum before e-cigs. I destroyed my gum line. My problem may only exist for me.

Well bottom line to my story is that all of us are unique and special. Some of us may present with side effects and/or adverse effects. Toto had mentioned the medications one takes. This is also something one must consider.

I am hoping in the future that we can pinpoint some of these effects to help each other continue vaping.

There's something in the juice. We are very new vapers. Our first week vaping we only had one flavor to refill cartomizers and that was spearmint, which was very pleasant. Then the juice orders started to come in. Yesterday our juice order came in from VaporStation and we were sampling the RY4 about 30min to 1hr later my feet just started to swell up like balloons. Other juice we had tried before that was from Good Prophets which I vape daily with no problem, but last night was not good.

I am thinking it is something in the blend or the mix. I really like the RY4 flavor but something in the blend doesn't like me. We have a whole sampler from VaporStation. 10 bottles. I am not sure I will be able to vape any of them.

PS..I went to the VaporStation website to see if they listed the PG/VG % on their juice. I didn't see it. If someone know that would be great info for me. I am going to email them also.

Cinnamon in my opinion is not good to vape. I had a allergy to a certain vendors VG or it could have been "whatever" in the liquid. I think some of them add additives that are not disclosed. I no longer vape that particular e-fluid. I did have edema in the right leg. It is gone now. I am fussy with my ingredients now.

BTW one can have adverse/side effects from aspirin. Side effects does not deter me at all. I just had to figure out what was causing the effect. I have found my perfect vape and I also DIY my own liquid.

Any updates?

I came home Wednesday after spending another 2 weeks in the hospital. A total of 3.5 liters of fluid was drained from around my left lung. I still have a bit of pneumonia in that lung. The next step, if the fluid builds up again, is a surgical procedure called pleurodesis. I asked every single one of my doctors, including the lung specialist, if e-cigs could be the cause of my problems. With the exception of one doctor who was not at all familiar with e-cigs, they all very emphatically answered no. As the lung specialist pointed out, if e-cigs were the culprit, both lungs would be affected. I'm sure it wouldn't be a bad idea to stop vaping but it's not something I want to do right now and I'm happy to know that I don't have to.

Before I'd quit vaping, I'd absolutely try a 100% VG based all natural or organic vape. I had major problems on PG with artificial flavors/sweeteners, but I adore my organic VG juice and all my symptoms have gone away. I'm a HUGE fan of Virgin Vapors 100% VG organic juices, but there are other vendors that offer them as well, such as Ahlusion and Vaperite. Some people like me are very sensitive to PG, so that might be the culprit. Or it could be any of a number of artificial colors/flavors/sweeteners like sucralose. Whilst those things are rated safe for human consumption, they're not necessarily a healthful thing to inhale (kind of like McDonalds food is legal and will fill you up, but isn't going to do you any favors healthwise). I'd go organic or all natural with your vape for a month or so and you'll find out pretty quickly if that solves your problem. All of my symptoms went away (some faster than others) over the last month I've been off the artificial stuff, but then I vaped very heavily primarily PG based liquids for more than a year and a half, so it probably took longer for my symptoms to go away than it might for a person who's recently started vaping. Good luck!!!

Oh geez.. I just read your most recent update. You poor thing... gosh, hope you're feeling better soon! But if your lung function is compromised, I'd DEFINITELY go to all natural vape. Just cause whether its the cause of your symptoms or not (and sounds like NOT at this point) it still strikes me as silly to inhale stuff that we know isn't very healthy such as sucralose and artificial stuff.

PS... All you guys who've had bad reactions to a certain liquid... same thing happened to me with PG and artificial flavors/sweeteners. You guys know you can go to the 'buying and selling' area here and put your liquids that give you bad symptoms in the classifieds for sale or trade, right? I had hundreds of $ of PG stuff, and as much as I would have liked to donate it to the Pay it Forward thread for people who are having a hard time buying their liquids, I flat out couldn't afford to. I listed it for sale or trade, traded some, sold some, and as happy as I was to get liquids I could vape and get a little $ to buy more, the people who got a great deal on my liquids were just as happy. Just wanted to mention that since a few of you are talking about being stuck with stuff you've paid for and can't vape. ;) Let me see if i can find a link for you guys...

In the main forum page, its about halfway down, under the heading 'buying and selling'. The area you post your stuff to is called 'classifieds and swaps'. Good luck!

I'm not saying that vaping is the culprit and I'm not saying it's not, I just don't know. I'm home after spending 7 days in the hospital, 4 of them in ICU, due to atrial fibrillation and pneumonia. I wasn't able to vape in the hospital. Now, after being home and vaping for a few days, I can feel my chest tightening up again.

I've tried different juices, all with a 50/50 blend because that's all I have. Maybe it's a reaction to the PG? Maybe it has nothing to do with the vaping and I would have gotten sick anyway. I haven't told my family that I'm feeling worse again because they will immediately blame the vaping and push me to quit. I want to be sure first. It doesn't really make sense to me that I suffered no effects from vaping, other than dry mouth and nose, for 5 months and now it's suddenly a problem.

I know that some people get immediately defensive when vaping is associated with any type of illness but, please, understand that what I'm trying to do is rule out vaping as a cause. I'm not really sure what my reasons are for even making this post, possibly for assurance that vaping isn't making me sick, or maybe so we can have an honest dialog about potential side effects of vaping and how to avoid them.

Hello Pammers!

So sorry to hear that you're not feeling well!
PG is used to keep down bacteria and viruses in the air in hospitals, restrooms, and is used in fog producing mechanisms for stage shows.
I do not think that PG is the culprit here.
VG, however, could cause some allergic reaction. Sometimes, the body does not have an allergic reaction to a substance right away.
Have you had any rashes? Stomach or Bowel problems? Throat tightening?
If so, you may be having a reaction.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IS HAVE A CANDID TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR.
Maybe, see specialist and have some tests done.
If you are having any rashes, stomach or bowel problems, these could be a precursor to Anaphylaxis, a dangerous allergic reaction.
Check it out on the internet so that you can be aware of the indications and dangers of this, also called Anaphylactic Shock.

Thanks for the update Pammers, been thinking about you..

side note, I do find certain flavors that make me start coughing gain, so I've had to make adjustments..for me it's not PG or VG, but the flavoring that does it, I DIY so know exactly what goes in each batch.
