I agree, its finding that missing depth that the Trib has. I'm sure its a deeper tobacco additive of some sort, i also
thought about absolute or the plain tobacco flavor and just placed an order with TPA.

Danny: I have some Hangsen RY4 that i didn't care for by its self, maybe ill add some to a batch. How does the T5 differ?

T5 is a 555 tobacco it has a nutty overtone to it. It's the major ingredient in halo's prime 15 which I'm in the process of completing a clone on. Tribeca is close to prime except it has the ry4 top note. Tribeca will be my next project when I finish the prime.

First batch was:

RY4 Double 8%
Caramel 3%
AP 1%
EM 1%
Formula 51 Tobacco 1%

Smells wonderful and close to Trib just lacks the depth when vaping.

I would say reduce the ry4 to 3% and increase the AP to 2 - 3% or eliminate the AP and add 5% T5. Also I don't think the caramel is nessessary.

Danny, I hereby volunteer to be your taste test guinea pig.

These all sound fabulous!

I actually have 3/4 of a bottle of tribeca to compare it to but thanks for offering. As I get this down I will be sharing my methods and recipe so stay tuned. For those that like halo's prime 15 I'm 99.9% there. I did find the mossy/chocolate/fruity note that was missing and am just fine tuning it. I've compared it to the original prime 15 that another forum member was kind enough to send me and it's almost spot on in color, smell and taste. If you want to follow the progress look here starting on page 38. That page will even have my recommendations for tribeca.

Hypothetical question:

If you were able to replicate the flavor and aroma of an iconic e-liquid like Tribeca or Boba's Bounty but the color was way off, would you be 100% satisfied?

Since the difference is $0.60-$0.80 per ml verses $0.15 per ml or less, then yes, I for one would be completely satisfied. I'm almost there with Tribecca. As FACE MEAT implies, simple RY4D + AP gets you 90+% of the way there. Bobas is not so simple but I expect I'll find a reasonable substitute.

I need to get a few regular brews mastered (and I'm certain I will). I have several $100 invested in flavors, bottles, etc and I need to start recouping my investment. With so many flavorings available at just a few bucks a pop and so many suggested recipes, this can really get away from you (or me at least). However, over the long haul, I'm sure I'll break even or better.

Thanks to all for pressing ahead with Tribecca. I love that one and it's almost there. I think Halo has seen my last $$$.

I'm not a die-hard fan of any juice. True, I've never tried the icons, but I'm happy with my creations most of the time.

Yes but I don't retail the stuff it's just for my personal use.

I've vaped Tribeca almost everyday for the last 2 months and my own DIY RY4-D over the last 3 weeks. I've made several iterations of the RY4-D, including playing around with different % of AP in it. At this point, I'm not quite convinced that RY4-D + AP is close to Tribeca.

AP is a key ingredient in Tribeca. Its scent and taste, especially on a newly opened bottle of Tribeca, is unmistakable. So when you add AP to a mix of RY4-D, it will smell almost exactly the same as Tribeca, but it vapes far from it.

The Tobacco taste in Tribeca (well steeped, at least 2 full weeks after bottle opening and decanted) is bold, solid and very dominant. A good dose of sweetness accompanies that bold tobacco taste. While the RY4-D is very sweet, it just doesn't have that solid tobacco punch that Tribeca has. In fact, RY4-D as a Tobacco vape is on the (very) mild end of the spectrum. It's the wide margin between Tribeca's tobacco taste vs RY4-D that is the primary reason why I doubt whether RY4-D is the correct direction in attempting to make a clone.

Tribeca is Halo's "take on the RY4." What characterizes nearly any RY4 is the presence of caramel and vanilla to complement an otherwise solid tobacco flavor. Although I may be wrong, I do not detect Vanilla in Tribeca as much as I do detect chocolate or cocoa, which comes along in this juice at the end of a drag. To me, Tribeca is (a Bold Tobacco) + (a sweet Caramel) + (a dry, bitter Cocoa) + AP.

While I do think RY4D+AP is getting close, I do have to agree with most of what you say. There is something missing. The clone smaells almost spont on but tastes like Tribecca that has gone flat, lost it's fizz or however you want to describe it. I do suspect that it needs to go in adifferent direction; either another RY type or supplimented with something else. I have become obesessed with finding a solution, at least something I can say is a good substitute. Too bad I have to spend so much time making a living which is really getting in the way of pursuing this really important stuff.

How about a small % of cola flavor This is just based on reading someone that said adding a little cola flavor to his RY4 adds some complexities to the juice. The cola would add fizz and the coca flavor some detect. Could be way off, but reading this thread made me remember that.
