I am one of the old folks around here and just don't understand the new language or way of spelling.
I think text talk started with phonics and has been going downhill or uphill ever since.
Guess it depends on what side of the hill you are on. :D

Great thread BTW (By the way)

There is an abbreviation translator Add-on for Firefox and Chrome called Acronym / Abbreviation Expander Add-on / Extension | ABBREX.

This works similar to the built in abbreviation translator on ECF by underlining abbreviations it finds and if it is in its database it will show the definition of that abbreviation.
It's community driven, which means that any abbreviation translations someone enters can be seen by anyone else using the ABBREX Add-on. You will need to register on the ABBREX site to become a member of the community. Registration is free.
If a particular abbreviation applies to more than one definition all of those definitions will be shown in the popup if they have been entered into the community database.

Here is an example of a multi-vendor popup that I have entered:

ABBREX Popup.jpg

So far I have entered all of the Vendor abbreviations listed on this thread down to this point.

This abbreviation translator will work on any abbreviation, not just vendors, so if the database has ECF, for example the popup will show "E-Cigarette Forum" or anything else that ECF might stand for that was entered by someone else.

I was going to say also:

VR = Vermillion River.

Seriously, I am seeing so many acronyms in this thread that I have NEVER seen used often elsewhere on the main forums. I am seriously browsing all day, and have been for months now. Usage inside vendor-specific sub forums should not be considered because they are obvious.

This thread was created to reduce confusion, and I think it is a great idea, but I can't help but think some confusion is being added at the same time.

The whole idea behind ECF is communication about vaping. When I first started lurking here I had a terrible time trying to make any sense out the countless abbreviations. I'm a fairly patient guy and spent days cracking the code. I wonder how many prospective vapers just gave up and never came back?

Solution: if the ECF abbreviation translator doesn't underscore your abbreviation while writing your post then use the full name or term for the sake of clarity. You only need to do this first time you mention it in a thread. After that, abbreviate at will. This will be a huge benefit to those unfamiliar with the shorthand. Effective journalists and professional writers use this same practice.

Not sure you'd really want to abbreviate "Personal Electronic Nicotine Inhalation System".
EDIT: Apparently, that abbreviation isn't censored on ECF.

The only abbreviation I haven't seen is SI for Smokeless Image. But then they are often recommended to new people, so it's rare to see it abbreviated outside of their own forum or the 808 forum.
