I agree with you. I wish people wouldn't use so many abbreviations when talking about vendors. Especially when they don't bother to post a link.

I am totally condescending with the use of acronyms at all. Here is an example , What is WTA?
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-liquid-discussion/230570-wta-e-liquid-issues.html

Hard to believe a moderator posted this. Please people SPELL it out for us we are not psychics !!
Professors here at my college give failing grades for the use of acronyms for a reason.
The linked posted is totaly useless to me because I have no clue what WTA is.

When a read a post full of acronyms and abbreviations I feel like slaping that person and just pass it up now. Some of the posts are just ridiculous that way. If we are here to help new people then spell it out for heavens sake...at least once in the post. " Who do you like as a Vendor?" then " COV, MBV, AVL blah blah blah" is s t u p i d way to help

I am one of the old folks around here and just don't understand the new language or way of spelling. :unsure:
I think text talk started with phonics and has been going downhill or uphill ever since. :facepalm:
Guess it depends on what side of the hill you are on. :D

Great thread BTW (By the way)

I don't think it's related much to textspeak (which I loathe most of the time) I think people are just going overboard on acronyms. If you look in pretty much any industry, watch the news, read the paper, even take a look at the military, there are tons and tons of acronyms and abbreviations.

It never occurred to me that new members might not be up to speed with all the MBVs and HHVs we constantly say, I'll try to actually write things out in the future, especially in the new members section.

It's not a vendor, but what is ETA. In my world it stands for Estimated Time of Arrival. It seems to mean something different here. Admittedly I haven't seen it used recently.

I wonder that too? I allways thought it is when some one edits their post, like after the fact? Posthumous?

If you have some context and a search engine, you can find anything. If you TRY.

Most people CBA.

I

You expressed my point accidentally[MPE]. That is;
We are sick of leaving the website and doing a search in wiki or google every time we read a post[RAP], it gets old[IGO] and it's exhausting[IE], spelling it out[SIO] alleviates the nuisance[ATN] of the intellectual witch hunt[IWH]. If your audience has to "Look Things Up"[LTU] then that means you are not communicating well[NCW].

Now eliminate the phonics and leave the acronyms, try and make out the post after that.
Good luck!!

Thanks for the great thread!!
Here's some more for ya...

VV = Value Vapors
CC = Copper Creek
EBS = E-Cig Best Save
SV = Sterling Vapor
TSV = Top Shelf Vapes
USV = US Vapor Shop
VA = Vapor Alley
WV = Westside Vapor
GLV = Great Lakes Vapor
TW = Totally Wicked

Ahhhhh!! Here is another problem with acronyms,
These are also common acronyms for the following. Remember when you read about vaping for the first time as a newbie;

VV= Variable Voltage
VA= Virginia
CC= Carbon Copy
WV= West Virginia
GLV could mean Galveston, TX International Airport on a weather map.

This is why I detest the use of these. I can't imagine what it is like being a foreigner trying to learn street English, Yikes!!!!
