I've been putting Noalox on the top of my battery every time I change just a little dab on the button. This causes the firing pin to be submerged and because of that it doesn't arc or spark because there is no oxygen to allow that to happen. I need a few Reonauts to try this for a couple of months to see if it works as well for them as it does for me. We just might have a better way with this. Of course it may be a moot point after the new kit drops but I'd still like to know how it works for others. Any takers?

Can someone change the f to a k in the title please... brain fart on my part.

Glad its working out for you! I read somewhere in a different thread that someone may have been putting too much noalox on the top of the batt and that caused it to get sticky over time and the firing pin actually stuck in the firing position.

Personally, I have not put any noalox on my firing pin. I have not noticed any pitting or black specs on the top of my batt so I should be good. I am anxiously waiting for the new kit to come out as well!

When I do apply noalox, I use your method of smearing a dab on the button top of an AW IMR 18650. Then I vape till the battery needs to be recharged. When I remove that battery, I just wipe off the top of the battery with a vaper towel and I continue to use the Reo as intended. When sparking eventually resumes, I clean the firing pin with a cotton swab soaked in 99% isopropyl alchol. I clean the contacts on my batteries with the same alcohol. Then I apply some noalox to a button top, install, and vape happy. I only break out the file when cleaning and noalox don't solve sparking/performance issues. I don't have to file very often.

This is just what works for me. Rob's suggested regimine for cleaning, filing, and noalox are what I recommend to Reonauts experiencing performance issues. I figure he knows these mods better than me. I just really enjoy vaping them. :p

I've been polishing my battery tops and applying a smidg of Noalox for several months. Sometimes I neglect to do this and will notice a tiny bit of arcing and if I get any sign of dark spots on the battery tops, then out comes the dremel and polish and another smidg of Noalox and all it good again.

Thanks all for your input! I started with a clean firing pin and have seen no oxidation. As far as the pin sticking. The Noalox that migrates to the pin itself, I still clean the mod so that is not an issue. I'm trying to get away from filing the pin because it will get filed to the point of replacement. And because the center post male and female with gaskets will come into play because they usually don't live through a firing pin replacement. These things are not expensive to buy. But when getting these things on a non Reo included order, postage and parts will exceed the price of another 4 oz bottle of Noalox.
Loli. Thank you for giving this a try! Please let me know your results.
Tree. When you use it consistently do you notice any oxidation?

Don't you dare change that title! I, for one, am a Fine Folf and dam proud of it!

Can't help on the testing. I don't EVER get sparking either, and no Noalox either. As far as the 10A fuse goes, I'm vaping .3 & .4Ω builds with no issues. It takes a couple minutes at constant load to pop at 10A. At the level of a short, it pops instantly.

ADDIT: meaning, use the 10A. Even the 15A pops too slowly, and the 10A handles the load great and with excellent v-drop.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm . . . . yo' self.

The fuse itself is a LittleFuse brand 10A mini fuse (although) most folks seem to use the regular size one. There's a whole thread on the mod and the options. Just be sure to devise/use one of the methods that doesn't allow the wrong (battery) leg of the fuse to contact anything but the battery (not the body of the mod).

ADDIT: Rob's upgrade should resolve this issue too.
