I got it from eBay, hopefully it's legit. It was my only option though, as I am in Korea and varitube wouldn't take my bank card or reply to my email in time.

Also got a project box and some acrylic panels (not sure which I'll use yet), 18650 holder (mainly for the tabs inside of it, I'll likely not use the plastic body), a basic 510 connector, and also a flat-top Chi-You conversion that I actually hope to use instead of the weak looking 510.

This will be my first VV as well as my first DIY mod. Any tips or advice?

OK so an update, since I mostly just participate in the ECF IRC channel:

eBay vendor was a scam, had to use the eBay Buyer Guarantee thing to get my money back. The guy had waited 2 weeks just to tell me he didn't have it, and then tried to cancel the transaction before giving me a refund.

As it turns out, I suck at cutting acrylic (I don't have any of the right tools) so I'll be having an acrylic shop local to me make the box. I did however get half an undersized box made for test fitting stuff (lol)

Battery and circuit is complete, as are my box drawings.

Without further ado:

Here is the circuit firing with just .2v drop @ 50W

Here is the battery pack I made, this is made from two Efest 35A which are directly soldered together in parallel config using 16GA wire:

Here it is being mocked up and measured for the final box build:

The box specs were going to be 80mm H x 60mm L x 30mm W but I decided to go with 95mm H instead, because I'm being forced to use a 16mm button rather than the tac switches I ordered (they are stuck in Greek customs somewhere and not arriving any time soon)

So I got a bag of heat shrink tubing, but I'm too lazy to take it all back apart and shrink wrap it all. Unfortunately I broke the box last week and had to super glue it back together (it fell from a high desk onto a cement floor) so when it's time for the new box I will do it. Also I have some Varitube 510s coming as well as three more chips. Time to make some fun size mods!

I'm starting a bottom feeder sx350 mod myself. I had considered using acrylic , but have decided to use a Hammond 1590 G instead. I may make a acrylic door or maybe carbon fiber. I got my chip from eciggity ($62.00) it arrived quickly. Now I'm waiting for my other components to arrive. I can't wait to get started. Sorry to hear of your setbacks, I expect to experience some myself. Sometimes the journey is of more value than reaching the destination.

Acrylic doors are easy enough! Remember to take lots of pics for the boards.. :)

Thanks Ryan, I may just have to get me one of those fancy knives!

You should be able to find one at most hardware stores. They are used for cutting all kinds of plastics, and I've had good luck with both the cheap disposable ones and the more expensive (but still cheap!) ones with replaceable blades.

I haven't had much luck actually, a lot of stuff that is available to you guys is often rare over here. I did get this.......

Which failed badly, I may try to grind it...........

And these, which worked better but still not great results.........

I may have to hit eBay?........Do you have any pics of the quality of the edge you are getting after snapping and before sanding? Just so I can gauge my results?

I'm considering going back to the band saw, and buying a router.........

What thickness are you cutting? Over 5mm thick you're going to need a saw. Score the sheet until the blade starts to get stuck in the cut (25-30 passes) before breaking. Scoring in both sides will also help with a clean break but it isn't going to be perfect. After breaking I clean the edge with a razor blade and then sand it flat.
