I should preface this with the fact that I probably would have quit my job anyway. It was a miserable, depressing place to work. But here's what pushed me over the edge.
I live in WA, and worked for a company I'll not name right now. I've never been one of those paranoid loonies or anything of this sort, but this seems a little bizarre.
I work in an office setting, and obviously there's no smoking while working, however everyone keeps there smokes on their desk, cell phones charging, whatever.
The landlord of building in which my company is renting has a no smoking on the property policy, which means everyone needs to go across the street to smoke. Not there in their car, across the street.
Fair enough. I talked to my manager upon higher about the e-cigs, as a heads up, that A) I did not want to be around smoke any longer, and B) Essentially what an E-cig is, and asked if I could vape on my break in my car. Didn't seem to be an issue. Then suddenly it was.
Fine. I shall walk across the street and stand with the 20 analog users. On one of numerous days I was working overtime, I plugged my e-cig into charge for use on my way home. The next morning there was a company wide meeting, explaining that they had decided to ban the use of e-cigs within the company. They did not want to see, or hear about e-cigs on the property, and if you "need nicotine", just go smoke a cigarette like everyone else. Failure to comply will result in immediate termination, blah blah blah....
Uhm, what?
Yeah, I quit. Not right that second, but very soon after.
