@Kemosabe trying out a cotton wick is simple, trim the stock wick short, just enough to stick out of the cup. Lay a 1" - 1 1/2" piece of cotton across the coil and down into the tank. I use plain butcher's twine (boiled of course) separate the threads or the string and use one or two depending on the thickness.

It's simple and with the extra wicking the coil stays damp enough to not build up a lot of gunk in the first place. Less cleaning necessary, lower maintenance, better tasting vapor....:vapor:

i believe this to be exactly true. i have ordered 5 viv nova v2.5 tanks and 3 of them work beautifully. one leaks and one was DOA. so if youre like me and really like the vivis, just keep ordering them. i also plan to try the screw tank as its just about the same thing. perhaps better.

I just bought my second Nova and I'm on it's first head, but the tube seems to be flooding. Could this be a bad head or do you think this is a bad unit?

What do you mean by, "the tube seems to be flooding"? Do you mean you are finding leaks coming from the tube?

I'm finding the tube is getting juice it and killing the air flow. I'm wondering if it's just a bad atty thats dropping juice in it. It works for awhile. I've taken it apart and cleaned it three times in three days of light vaping. But at some point in floods enough to where the vapor becomes almost nothing.

BTW, Love the Washington pic and and sig line. My favorite President and the best we ever had.

Yep, you got that right. GW is my hero.

As for the tube...I get you now. The inner air tube (not the tank tube). Yes, that could be from a dying or gunky coil. Let me know how it's going after you change that out. That would be my first course of action (since you said you already gave it a good cleaning). Are you dry burning the coil?

its possible that your atty head is not screwed in tightly enough. that happened to me. i think it was from unscrewing the top cap, which in turn, could loosen the atty head slightly enough to allow juice to seep in the center tube. this could also be due to your silicone stopper not making a perfect seal withthe top cap.

unscrew the top cap, wipe the excess liquid from the inside. wipe the excess liquid from the top of the silicone cap. remove the silicone cap and make sure your atty head is screwed in tightly enough. i use my thumbnail for this, some folks use other tool such a a paperclip. dont make it too tight, just snug enough. put it back together then blow out the center tube and dry off the 510 connector.

also, dry off the area inside the top cap that becomes visible when you remove the drip tip. i get backwash in there sometimes. that could also be a source of your gurgle. also, this should be a regular place for you to wipe clean. the backwash can roll back down into the tank, and im pretty sure vaping backwash isnt too high on anybodys list of things to do.

and finally, dont overfill your tank. i do 3ml as a max. 2.8 preferrably.

I had the same issue, and I figured out what was causing the problem- check the inside of your atomizer assembly. If yours has the fiber/cloth "sleeve" around the inside of the center post (essentially surrounding the coil/wick assembly), try this:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tanks/332596-vivi-nova-mini-2-5-burnt-taste-fix.html

This worked for me, and I'll be fixing all of my Nova atty's in the same way before first use. Hope this helps!

I just rewicked a couple of my mini Nova heads and wondered what the purpose of that fiber sleeve was. I didn't see any. But I reassembled it back with that fiber sleeve anyway. Why change the applecart when you don't have to. Well, looks like that fiber sleeve serves no valuable purpose other than to act as a spacer. So when you rewick, just be careful you leave some space.

it might be a spacer. i hadnt thought of that.
i thought it acted as a "juice trap", to hold juice right next to the coil.

That's possible. I'll find out soon enough. I'm just going to remove mine and not snip it all up. Might find out that removing it turns into a disaster and will want to put the "spacer" back.

i know that the folks that rebuild the heads do not include that thing, so i think it'll be fine to remove it. as long as you can get it out wihtout wrecking the coil.

Well, if I'm rewicking then wrecking the coil wont be an issue. Admittedly, I was scratching my head when I first tore apart a head wondering what purpose that thing served. Just seemed it kept the coil elevated so people couldn't just go jammimg and poking stuff in there and caving it in. I dont jam and poke so it should not be an issue for me.

That's the only logical reason that I can see for it being there. Problem is, it's flammable! ;)

I finished a full tank without the sleeve, and have had no leaking, wicking or any other problems- just much better taste!

Great. I have a head laying on the desk begging for its diaper to be changed. So I think I'll yank that sleeve outta there and give it a whirl. I saw a rewicking vid a little bit back once and I kindof remember rthe guy yanking the sleeve out and he didn't seem like he particularly coveted that thing. And I don't recall him putting it back. Maybe I'll dig that vid up again.

That sleeve is to prevent the legs from shorting out inside the head tube.

If you rewick/coil and feel comfortable with your rebuild and that the legs are not able to come into contact with the sidewall of the tube...you can leave it out.

I just reuse mine....better to be a bit safer than to possible short out your PV or have a batt melt down issue.

Yeah, I can see how it could help with that...even so, it burns. It doesn't allow the tank system to work as intended, at least for me and a lot of others who seem to have the same issue. If they made it out of a different insulator, it might be a better idea- as for me, I will be removing it from now on, and I'll be careful not to short out the wires.

With that said, thanks for letting us know the true purpose of the stuff- and it goes without saying that the info you provided is VERY IMPORTANT for people to know when modding their atty heads like I have!
