Ok maybe not my idea exactly. I thought of the "Sex Stone". My idea was to get stones from the quarry and paint sex stone on one side and when you filpped it over it would say "Just a F#&%ing Rock"...kinda the same thing.

I remember my dad having a '52 Chevy that used a roll of toilet paper as an oil filter. Remember when people trusted govt (pre - Johnson) and the USS Arizona had no memorial. Surfboards over 9 ft long, "mosquito trucks" that used DDT to kill dem skeeters, milk home delivery, ice delivery for the non electrical fridge (ice box), 5 digit phone numbers, no more than 2 lanes in either direction, 20 cent movies (double feature w/ news and toons), 3 sticks of gum for a penny, kids playing outside, Beatle Boots, more fish than fishermen, and Santa Claus was too young to shave ;)

7 p.m. ONE night a week, laying on the floor in front of the waist high tube radio to LISTEN to the Lone Ranger. Small drawstring bags full of marbles to take to school, and if you were lucky, one or two "cat's eye" marbles. Fulsom's grocery store, where there was a big cast iron heating stove the "old guys" used to crowd around in winter to play checkers (with spittoon, of course). 5 cent cokes. 18 cent packs of cigarettes with no filter, outside wells with genuine hand operated pumps to get your water.

I remember those soda machines with glass bottles. The gas station had one where the top of the vending machine flipped up and the bottles were standing up in metal slots. You put your dime in and that allowed the bottle to slide to the opening and then lift it out. Enterprising young boys equiped with a bottle opener and a straw and covered by the darkness of night could open the lid, pop off a cap then use the straw to suck up the Nehi or Pepsi. Don't ask me how I know this.

My mother had on of those in her beauty shop. We were allowed only one cola a day but when the not most usual friends were over we would show off with bottle opener and straws. My Mom was pretty permissive so I don't remember getting into serious trouble. AND the cokes were five cents.

Great thread.
