I started vaping, because...

Why did you start vaping?

  • I'm addicted to nicotine (cigarettes).

  • I'm addicted to nicotine (chewing tobacco).

  • I'm addicted to nicotine (other).

  • Can't quit smoking because of "hand-to-mouth"

  • Self-medicating (nervous or other disorder)

  • Because I can do it where I can't smoke.

  • Because of the flavors, and/or because it is "cool".

  • Other - please explain.

I'm here, when I'm here
Yes. I'm addicted to nicotine but not addicted to cigarettes. If that were the case, I'd still do that nasty habit. Don't need the tar, formaldehyde, acetone or and of the other 600+ chemicals the big tobacco companies use. And what is that stuff they put on the cig paper to make it go out if you don't take a drag? That can't be good for ya either.

I started vaping because I was addicted to filtered cigars. My friend suddenly handed me disposables and was like "I got these free samples for you" and I gave em a shot, and OH MY GEE it's so fun being able to "smoke" inside! No more cold weather man XD And what's better is that it isn't smoking, it's vaping, it's odorless and doesn't stain your teeth or all the other terrible things those filtered cigars were doing to me.

I started vaping for breathing reasons, I could not continue to smoke but am addicted to cigarettes. I have a nervous chew my fingers thing I always have even as a child so it helps keep my hands occupied. I could not quit smoking it was the hand to mouth thing. I also needed to quit smoking in the house. I would have checked all boxes except, other nic and chewing tobacco.

This is me to a T. I also started vaping for all those reasons, I so have to keep my hands busy. Vaping is such a great improvement over analogs. Also it is nicer that I have gotten a few people to start vaping instead of smoking and they have both gotten a few people to quite smoking also. The cycle continues :vapor:

I'm more addicted to the hand to mouth--- combined with the slow deep breathing. Have a High Stress Job, and when I thought about it, the deep slow breathing that smoking, and now vaping, provides ... it harkens back to the years I spent in sports where we used deep slow breathing to calm ourself down during stressful situations.

I started vaping for many reasons
1.) Cancer runs in my family - my sister lost her larynx to smoking at the age of 38. My grandfather also lost his larynx to smoking and died of cancer in his 70's.
2.) I'm a singer - nuff said.
3.) I wanted to be a better role model for my 6 yr old son.
4.) My hubby of 12 years never smoked and hated the smell of smoke on my clothes/breath/hair.
5.) I was beginning to develop breathing problems and asthma.
