I started vaping, because...

Why did you start vaping?

  • I'm addicted to nicotine (cigarettes).

  • I'm addicted to nicotine (chewing tobacco).

  • I'm addicted to nicotine (other).

  • Can't quit smoking because of "hand-to-mouth"

  • Self-medicating (nervous or other disorder)

  • Because I can do it where I can't smoke.

  • Because of the flavors, and/or because it is "cool".

  • Other - please explain.

I voted primarily due to being addicted to nicotine. Pipes (mainly) but also cigarettes (though I only really smoked those at work--pipes take too much time for a five minute break).

Also I use nicotine to self-medicate for ADD, have a hand to mouth problem (part nervous tic part I like to have something in my hand to fiddle with--makes it look like I'm really busy when I really just want to ignore people around me)

I also put down other: That other is Tobacco Harm Reduction. It has long been my view that the problem with smoking is not the nicotine, it is the smoke. Also quitting smoking has failed for me so I decided to switch from harmful nicotine delivery system to less harmful nicotine delivery system would satisfy both my desire to use nicotine and my long term health goals.

I read article by Dr. Kieth Ablow on Foxnews.com on the virtues of E Cigs. I had smoked nasties for 53 years and my wife hates them. I thought I would give it a try and ordered the E Cigs Dr. Ablow mentioned in the article, Logic. When I tried them I said to myself, self you can do this! I saw how expensive they (disposables) could become and while searching the net found ECF and saw that getting a kit and juice was the way to go. It does work!

Sick of ashes in my clean black car, and didnt want to go outside all winter. Plus my cat hates the smell, and even with a fan blowing smoke out the window...........I worried about him getting any 2nd hand vapor. I didnt want to get old and ugly, have ugly teeth, cancer, or be littering butts out the window when I drive.

I checked other.

It was kind of a domino effect with me.

I was noticing my teeth were getting yellow no matter how much I brushed. I tried whitening toothpaste. I tried teeth whiteners from the department store and that wasn't working. I was online looking for a teeth whitening method that worked for cigarette smokers. I accidently found an ad for a truly free e-cig and, liking free stuff, I ordered it. I figured it might help with the teeth whitening thing if I stopped smoking also. While waiting on my first vapemail I started researching vaping and new if I liked it I would never go back to analogs. That was a decision for my health, not just my teeth. As it turned out I LOVED it. I have been smoke-free for a month+ now and not only have I saved money, I'm feeling healthier and, low and behold, my teeth are whitening up. A win-win-win for me.

I started vaping for 2 reasons...one because I work 12+ hours without a break and sometimes can not get outside. But the main reason was to try to save money...paying $5 for a pack of 12 cloves was getting ridiculous....there for a while a pack would last me about a week but 2 1/2 months ago I got injured at work and started smoking about a pack a day due to pain, stress and nerves. So decided it was time to start vaping more...problem is being an avid clove smoker it hasn't been easy but a week 1/2 ago (on my youngests 4th b'day) I've gone to just vaping and gonna make it work :) time to save money and stop hacking up my lungs

While I was well aware of the associated risks involved with smoking (who isn't these days) I loved doing enough that I didn't want to quit. I enjoyed it too much. Then a friend introduced me to this vaping thing. I bought a mod my first trip to the local b&m and haven't looked back. It is my way of getting to enjoy "smoking" without the worst parts of smoking.
