It seems my wife is having issues with the PG liquid. She's really sensitive to stuff.

At first, we thought the 18mg was a bit strong for her, but now she's still tossing and turning and she said her throat is super dry. Not only that, her ear is getting some allergic reaction or something. It's red. 8-o She's also itching like mad. Looks like someone took a Cat o' Nine Tails to her arm. Could it be the PG? I feel pretty bad as it's almost 4 AM and she needs to get to bed for work. Not exactly the greatest vaping experience for her on the first day.

I sent an email to the V4L guys pertaining to the new order I just placed. At first I thought I'd lower the mg in her favorite Parliament Menthol flavor, but now I'm really worried. I asked if they could replace it with the VG Smilin' Menthol pack at 8mg. She really loved the Parliaments, though. Is the review on the site accurate for SMILIN Menthol? Not sure if my wife would be keen on having choclate/spearmint flavors. Maybe should have gone with the normal Menthols. Argh.

I'd hate to waste all of these premium carts of menthol I got for her as well and was wondering about something. Could I just get some VG at Walmart or something and dilute the carts? Would it be the same as the VG carts on the V4L site? Would cutting the liquid to 70% VG and 30% juice have the same potency as the original 18mg?

I really want this to work for us as she was very happy to see the PV in action when she got home, but now I feel like crap that she's this way. :(

I find it very difficult to believe that she may be allergic to PG and not know it by now. Tell her to check all her lotion and skin care products. I can bet you more than half of them contain PG. Does she eat crackers of any type? Alot of crackers contain PG in them to to help keep them fresh.

Also, does she drink enough water? I find the stated 8 glasses a day isn't nearly enough usually. I probably drink at least 12 glasses (2L) of water/day.

Not a dr, but I am a very allergic type individual to many other things. I'm also not trying to be snarky, I do wish to help! PG did make my throat pretty dry for the first month and adding a drop of VG to a cart did help make it through this. I now vape the juice w/out having to mix anything else in it just fine.

Wow, thanks for the replies, guys! :)

A small update. I'll try to answer the best I can.
You can cut it with vg from the store,it will lower the strength.Pm or email Val and she will help you with your order.

I emailed them close to 4 AM since she couldn't sleep. I requested a change to the VG stuff. Just a few minutes ago, I talked to her to see if she was okay, and she feels much better. She did, and she said that aside from the itching and redness she got, she'll deal with it. I told her I requested a change to the SMILIN' Menthol pack, and she said "Nooooooo~!". So I sent them another email requesting a switch back.

More talking ensued. I just wanted to make sure that's what she wanted as that people react to it differently.

You said it's the first day of vaping. Is it also the first day of quitting analogs?
Pretty much. I haven't touched an analog since yesterday afternoon, and she hasn't since she got home. Well, she had her "last" analog, then it was vaping the whole night.

There was something that I did bring up with her that may make some sense from all of this... read below.

She could very well have a PG allergy - some people do. Spend some time in the Health section - here's one thread about it:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...oking/71250-itchy-skin-rashes-pg-allergy.html

If you add plain VG (make sure to get USP vegetable glycerin) it will dilute the nicotine strength and the flavor as well. But it might be a good interim step to see if that helps. Best of luck!
Thanks for that link. I was suspecting it was PG, but knowing how sensitive she is, I wasn't quite sure. I'll definitely have to try adding a tiny bit of VG, though. :)

Also, does she drink enough water? I find the stated 8 glasses a day isn't nearly enough usually. I probably drink at least 12 glasses (2L) of water/day.

I told her to drink lots of water (more than usual). And try to stay hydrated. She said she will as I saw her off to work. I'm always working and whatnot in front of the computer, so I usually have my beverage handy.

I'll definitely try the VG drops in the carts later. She's still getting a slight buzz right now, so the lower mg will most likely help. Thanks for mentioning this. :)

About what I said above — the itching.

We had a small earthquake in California, and I did notice something that was funny. The water in our house is white. It doesn't matter if it's hot or cold, but I think something might have happened at the water treatment facility. I tried letting the water run for a few minutes, but it's still a murky white with an awful lot of bubbles in it. I'm not willing to let the water run longer since it's bad enough with the prices as it is.

She already has a pretty bad sensitivity to hard water, and I think whatever is in it now made it worse. When I mentioned it to her, I could see the little lighbulb over her head and her face lit up. She was convinced that that was probably it.

But I guess time will tell the longer she vapes. I'm doing alright as I type this, and I haven't felt this good in a long time. I actually got to sleep faster this morning, and seeing how I only got a few hours of sleep in from worrying about her, I don't feel tired at all.

Thanks again, guys! ;)

I feel for her, man. And you. But let me emphasize the obvious--that starting vaping and quitting smoking results in all sorts of weird reactions at first. I've often read about them here, and I experienced them myself. In fact, I went on a VG binge during week 2 because I was sure I had a PG allergy. Nope, just needed more water and mainly a lot more time to adjust. The whole process (all vapes, no smokes) took me almost two months to completely settle into, and I'm completely fine with the prem PG cartos now, nine weeks in. Never felt better.

But certainly keep an eye on things and see a doc if worried. Everyone's different. Good luck to you both.

Dryness does come with the turf when you start out vaping. But is it dryness or irritation of the throat? They're two different animals. The sleep factor points to needing a lower nicotine level, but the reddening of her ear points to a histamine response. Is vaping the main new thing she's introducing to her body?

Can you email or pm me and fill me in more? I'm very interested to try to figure out if it's PG sensitivity or if it's too much nicotine so that we can make it work out for her. It sounds like sensitivity, but I'd like to make sure before giving advice.

We'll figure something out that will work for her. Email me Valerie@vapor4life.com and fill me in on details of smoking history and of the reaction she's having. I'd really like to help you out in setting her up for happy vaping.

Thanks, jeffree. It's good to read how people react to switching. Definitely learning a ton here. :)

It was irritation mostly, I believe. She was chugging water and running to the bathroom in the middle of the night. She said it felt like no matter how hard you try, that it feels like no amount of saliva could fix it.

We both starting vaping and it's the only thing we've done. We're off analogs completely so far. I've adjusted better than she has. We did order a lower nicotine level, so we'll see what happens.

Will do, thanks. :)

Hey dracis - I felt like dog poo for the first 48 hours or so but it quickly passed and I was still smoking some analogues.

Then when I totally put down the cigs around 4-5 days ago I felt like dog poo again for . . . 48 hours.

FWIW (as I am not a doctor) I don't think when you quit analogues that nicotine is the only chemical people wind up going into withdrawl from.

Hope wifey feels better real soon and it's GREAT that you can do this together!

That's what I was thinking. If it wasn't a PG problem, possibly some withdraw symptoms of quitting analogs?

Our water turned white after the quake too! I've been running it through the Brita filter -- that seems to fix it.

When I quit analogs I had a couple of pretty sleepless nights too. It's one of the symptoms I always get -- NRT or no. Good luck to you and your wife!

Hey Dracis, I agree about this forum. Saved my .... many times. One other thought--my wife's also 'going vape' now, about 7 weeks behind me. For the first week, she had a bright red throat, sore as hell, and couldn't stop coughing up stuff. We still don't know exactly why, but I followed some advice here and asked her to vape a lot less for a few days and drink more water. When she snuck a few vapes during this time, they still hurt. A week later, though, she's vaping every hour or so with no pain. Again, just our experience. YMMV~
