I thought all Genesis styles worked the same...

But I was WAY wrong! Don't get me wrong, my DID and DID clones both work great. But my Cobra came in today, and WOW is it amazing. I have no idea why but it just seems to perform better, and was super easy to wrap a coil. I've gotten pretty darn good at wrapping coils on a genesis these days but still it just seemed a lot easier for some reason. I have a bunch of long but thin pieces of mesh that came with my DID that I can't wait to turn into a U coil one day. My only gripe which is no fault of the device itself, is that I wish the hole would line up with the button on my Provari, but since there's 4 different holes you can put the wick I got it close enough anyways. The pyrex tank just makes the juice seem so pure and looks absolutely stunning as well!

I'll try to take some pics after I eat if I'm feeling a little less lazy, haha.

Anybody else seem to notice that certain genesis style's perform better than others? I mean it's a night and day difference to me. I still love the DID but for home use from now on the Cobra will be by far my go to.

Edit: I had to drill the hole out a bit. When I got it, it not only had a tiny hole, but the hole wasn't properly drilled through, there was zero air flow. I always bore all of my rebuildables with side holes out to 1/16" anyways so it didn't bother me at all, just something i'm noting. I don't understand why they all come with such TINY holes, I never feel there's enough airflow, but 1/16" is my perfect spot.

Oh yeah, and it looks VERY sexy on a Provari, the little "dots" that go around it look great, even though they are smaller than the ones on the Provari battery cap, it still looks very sleek, and isn't as tall and cumbersome as I was worried it might be. Plus the titanium is LIGHT! It is way lighter than my DID. I would highly suggest a Cobra to anybody in the market for a top end genesis, and I feel lucky to own one because the Cobra was always my dream atomizer from the moment I first saw a picture of one.

I have a piece of 400 mesh too, not sure how big it was because I rolled it and oxidized it a while ago and covered it in VG for storage. I used the wire that came with the Cobra, 4 wraps, 1.4ohms. LOVING IT! :D Now all I need is my Penelope and I will have 2 Genesis' (I ruined my DID clone, whoops!) several Phoenix clones, a drip mode Oddy and a Penelope. I'm all set on gear too, Provari,18650 P+, stainless steel GGTB, Kicked Silver Bullet, 3.7v box mod, Lavatube, egos, etc. I also have over 50 cartos and a couple carto tanks. I have so much wick and wire I should be stocked for at least a year. All I need to buy is some more no resistance wire and juice. I can finally go back to saving money again, haha. I recently went on a collecting streak so that I could finally have all the gear I need so that I would only have to buy juice and the odd pieces of wick, mesh and wires from here on out.

I just got my cobra last week and I have made a few really good mods to make it work perfectly with my provari.

- first I drilled the air hole to 1/16 because you are right the one it comes with is crazy small. but I guess they look at it as you can always make a hole bigger but its pretty hard to make it smaller.

- then I used my dremel tool and grinded down the centre post of the 510 connection to get rid of that horrible gap it had on the provari which made it lean to one side slightly. I am a little ocd and it was driving me nuts!

- then I drilled out the 2 holes on top furthest away from the fill hole that way when I set up my dual wicks the threading wont be there to help cause shorts on the SS.

- then i took the fill hole screw out and replaced it with a bit if silicone with a hole in the middle. that way its much easier to fill and helps it prevent a vacuum lock that prevents your wicking process. since my 500ss mesh is wrapped very tightly there is not a lot of room for air to get by them.

- then I wrapped 2 coils around 2 wicks in parallel with 8 wraps on each with 34awg kenthal wire so each coil was 4 ohms so the total ohms was 2

with my provari on 5.2 volts it just knocks the vapor and throat hit out of the park!

I just received the Cobra yesterday as well. At first I accidentally switched the wick/negative post around (my Provari was reporting 1ohm or less, confused the hell out of me until I figured it out lol).

First wick/coil worked perfectly (first wick/coil I've ever made too). I have 500 mesh and I started with a 70x40 but ended up cutting it down to about a 50x40 (I didn't measure it once it fit) for some reason. I rolled it as tight as I could but 70x40 was just WAYY to big, even without a center channel (I rolled it solid, no hole).

My friend I bought it for complained his old Carto was too weak but now complains that the Cobra's throat hit was way too much (that it burned almost), so that's a plus lol.

I'm assuming finding the sweet spot with the voltage (the coil I made was 2ohm so I'm assuming that's not the problem) and getting the right nic mg will fix the overwhelming throat hit (maybe making the air hole bigger as well?).

Obligatory pics (cell phone quality):

As you can see in my pictures, you can line the hole/wick up with the Provari button easily (unless the threads differ between each Cobra?). It just takes some fiddling. :)

Where do you start threading the cobra to get the wick to line up with the provari? That is my only issue, I have to use my pointing finger to fire the provari.

Gotta say I love my cobra. Right now torn that when I get a second genesis do I get a second cobra or do I look into the titanium bliss when it comes out?

Yup. I started with a Phoenix, then to a DID Mini clone then to an AGA-T and the size of the device is in equal proportion to the amount of vapor it produces, in my experience. The AGA is huge compared to the Phoenix and makes twice as much vapor.
The Phoenix, on the other hand, makes a ....load of vapor for it's size. I spent a LOT of time and effort tweaking that thing as it was the only thing I could afford at the time and had a lot of time to work with it.

So, yeah, they work differently.

the hole is closer to the post so that helps with the coiling, and almost everyone I got had to clean the airhole from debris. but it is my fave as well i use a 400-500 hybrid wick unoxidized using 2X20 mm pieces and it freakin rocks i love it and quit using my DID after i got it, the draw is perfect for me but i like it tight, just have to get used to drawing slower.

i think alba vapors and Siam mods hit it out of the ballpark with this little baby.

to the other post i say skip the bliss and get in the line up for a foggatti :D

felt the same as you, once i got mt ac-9 there was a pretty big difference to my other gennys, it just performs better. not sure a penelope is considered a genesis, though they are great devices. do you know of the diameter of the cobra's wick hole? thanks

One word for you - conductivity.

I am sure using a good grade SS is going to give you a marginally better performance than
plated brass/bronze/pot metal.

You would think so...but most likely not.

Out of all common base metals, steel (specifically more complex alloys, like stainless steel) is the lowest on the conductivity scale, with about 1/60 the conductivity of copper. Moreover, the battery section of your PV is many times more important when it comes to conductivity, due to the relative distances the current travels.

Interestingly, the higher the grade of steel, the lower the conductivity- in most cases.
