I really did try to not ask, I know the answer is here somewhere. But Ive cut down on my analog smoking and my patience is wearing thin. Ive been researching for 3 weeks now. I was just going to get greensmokes till I found this site.

Heres my situation: I smoke a pack a day - very strong KOOL XL Green. Some days, haldf a pack since smoking at work is nearly impossible. I drive 4 hours a day. So I have access to my car charger. I have access to my work charger. I have obviously access to wall charger. I think since I dont know when I wouldnt be able to charge, I dont think battery life is an issue?? But I have never charged an e cig so I may not understand what to look for. After reading I thought I didnt want to push a button but I am OK with a manual battery, Ive read the arguments for them and I can get with that. I thought I wanted something to resemble a analog, but it turns out that the fatter wider ones like the ego 1100 look tempting. I worry about how they would feel hanging out my mouth (heavy) but after thinking about it, I really never hang a cig out my mouth, save for the rare occassion.

I was going to buy form hoosier, but got nervous with the cartomizers I picked out the Boge 3.2ohm SR 510 cartomizers 5 pack
, but then I relaized hoosier doesnt sell eliquid and I wanted a vendor that sells both for my first time starter kit. I also fell in love with the VERY helpful videos on zeecig and was going to just bite the bullet and order the ultimate kit but for $200 I got nervous. Its a lot of money but I got 4 skinny ones and 2 fat ones (lol sorry thats all i know them by) and I thought that ultimate kit gave me everything i could want most of which I really dont understand but from this site I know I need.

I keep thinking I know whats what, but then I forget what a cartomizer is. I was going to go only pre filled too when I started reading but I see that is stupid and after watching the zeevideos I see that you just put the liquid ina and boom. Seems easy to me. I think he was refilling a cartomizer. I can do that.

My lungs hurt, Im tired of analogs. Ive tried to quit before, but this time...Im not quitting because I am afraid of what might happen to me if I keep smnoking, this time, things are already happening, and I know its bad and Im done. I have nothing against nicotine though. Oh and on a side note, everyone gets so excited when I say I am quitting but when I say im goin to ecigs they all get mean and say im not helping myself. So I dont have any support for this, but I am okay with that. Id rather have my life and their ignorance then be on an oxygen tank. But sadly even my BF thinks this is wrong. If your going to quit, quit. Listen some people can go cold turkey, but some people are olympic gold medalists! Neither one is me. :) This is my plan and whether I step down or not in nicotine strength (although I plan to) is not what I am focused on, right now I am just focused on step one. Switch to e cig.

So, I am not in need of an analog look alike, I have good access to charging ( i think) I can squeeze liquids into that top thing and put that plastic piece back on and screw it on, I kinda like the fatter ones and my budget is something under $200!

Ive leaned towards joyetech 510 then ego then the kgo (i think)

I want a menthol for step one but once I know what I am doing - I want to switch to flavors after my first baby step. I would like some prefilled at first but will refill. I want 24mg and 18mg. And I keep coming back to my hoosier order but pining for the $200 ultimate kit at zeecigs, which i would buy if I need all that - I dont really know why I need 4 skinny ones?

Thank you in advance for having the patience to a) read all this and b) continually answering the same questions over and over for all us newbies. Perhaps the fact that you are saving lives is the ultimate reqard, because all of you who help us newbies are doing that - saving and changing lives. ANd i Deeply thank you for that.

Last thing, my birthday is sept 27 - thats kinda my drop date. So I hope I have my ecig by then. THis reduction in nicotine and analogs (and I switched to lights to get my body ready for *change* is already giving me awful migraines which doesnt help when reading through all this)! :)

Thanks again

well my best recommendation would be a inferno kit (ego type batteries) from volcanoecigs. they offer 2 batteries in the kit one 650mah and one 900mah, both are pt connected so you can vape and charge at the same time. the kit includes a bottle of juice a dct tank and 6 cartos. all for around $80 bucks throw in a few bottles of extra juice(highly recommended as its terrible to be without and waiting on a shipment) and you have cleared $100 which gets you free fedex 2 day shipping.

not to mention there customer service is top notch....

I've just recently quit myself. It's tough to find a battery that will last you for that type of drive.

If you are really pushing for an e-cig that looks like an analog joys 510's are good. I would try finding a mega battery for that because they don't last long at all.

I've heard a lot of great things about the Volt. It's an e-cig look a like.

I would check out AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Your one stop shop!. It's a really great site and they ship really quick. They have great customer service and they sell juices as well. Their prices for starter kits are good too.

If you really want a battery upgrade. For a beginner, I would use an ego. That's what I started with and most starter's come with two 650mah batteries. Look at "mah" as length of time. 650mah would probably last you a couple of hours. You would just need to charge overnight.

If you want more help, just pm me.

Good luck. Vaping helps with quitting. I quit immediately when I started.

Don't be afraid to ask anything. It's overwhelming as hell when you start out. It's hard to find a vendor that sells both good hardware and good juice. Some of the places with the best juice (in my opinion, anyway) don't have the latest hardware. I finally accepted that I can order from as many places as I want, so long as I'm getting what I want in the end. I don't really have any recommendations for just starting out, except I wouldn't go overboard on any one thing right now because you may not like it and you'll be stuck with a bunch of stuff you don't want. I do recommend the eGO. It's a good battery and has served me well. I use a tank, so I don't have any recommendations for cartomizers. Don't feel like you have to jump in all at once. I got started using only prefilled cartos. Eventually, I bought some juice and tried my hand at refilling my old cartos.

Welcome to ECF and don't be afraid to ask anything.

*Edit*
I have to chime in on what gogoplata said about Altsmoke. I've had nothing but good service from them. They may not have the absolute latest hardware out there, but they have good stuff. They also have good juice. The only reason I don't buy my juice from them is the particular flavor I like, they only carry in 10ml bottles and I need something larger.

Thanks, I actually dont want something that looks like an analog although I am not against it!

And s14sher.... ive secretly felt reatrded reading it but whats the EASIEST way you can explain a tank and a catomizer? Ive read and read but when I think I get it, I dont. What I do seem to understand is you fill a tank and it keeps you a long time, maybe tanks are what keeps appealing to me when I see the "fatter ones" ?

All totally normal questions, and that's what we're all here for. everyone started some where and there is so much info that it can be really over whelming. You already took the biggest step and that's making a choice to find a "healthier alternative" to smoking.

I'm not sure what the "best" starter kits are these days, but i would look at one of the VV eGo style battery kits. Hoosier is a good/reputable place to shop and i now they are carrying the KGO VV eGo style kits (they have a phone number on their website and will actually explain things to you). You should be able to get a good starter kit, extra cartomizers and some juice for well under your $200 budget. I don't want to get confusing with ohms/resistance explanations, but the 3.2ohm cartos your looking at will work best with a VV device that can get you up around 4.2v.

I'm sure folks will step in and fill the gaps for you, but keep the faith and good luck!

A cartomizer holds juice similar to the way Zippo lighters work. The filler inside soaks up the juice and the coil that heats the juice is down inside that. There are different styles of tanks, but the one thing they have in common is the juice is kept separate from the coil and may use a wick to bring it to the coil. I use a Vivi Mini Nova. It holds quite a bit more than a cartomizer, is easier to fill and you can easily see when you need to add juice. It's also rebuildable in that you can buy new "heads" for it that contain the coil and wick.

Hi MelissaAnn,

I've been at this for 3 months now. My wife and I smoked well over 40 years about a pack a day each. We had no intention of quitting but we stumbled into them out of curiosity. We were lucky enough to have a store near us, Vapingzone, and they were great.

You are on the right track with the eGo type. The one recommendation that I would make is that they make a lot of those with variable voltage now. What's great about that is that you can adjust the voltage which ends up giving you more flavor and more choices in what type of cartomizers and such that you can use.

I will tell you that if you browse around Vapingzone and see anything you like, you could look on the website for the contact info and call them. If you do ask for Leah, she great and very helpful. That would be the next best thing to being able to walk in somewhere.

I'm not pushing for you to go anywhere in particular, I just have had a great experience with them. So I would say wherever you decide to get your first equipment, don't be afraid to call them and ask for some assistance. Believe me, I know all this information can be overwhelming and confusing. Just keep reading and asking questions and it will start to make more sense.

Welcome and good luck on your new journey.

How do you get that banner that shows how many days since your last cigarette?
After you have 15 posts you can enter a sig in your profile. And for the sig banners, look around the forum and when you see one you like you click on it and it'll usually take you to where they got it.

I am sorry but I have to ask. How do you get that banner that shows how many days since your last cigarette?

I got mine from GotVapes.com. There are banners here on ECF that do the same thing, but I can't find where they are. Maybe someone will chime in and point you in the right direction.

Thank you. I did post a reply on the original topic of this thread but apparently it did not save. It looks like I used this thread to ask my question and that is not the case. I do apologize for that. =-)

I started on the little 510 style and then only used them as emergency back up after I got my first Ego (1000 mah). I've found that I can pretty much vape all day on the 1000 mah Ego, and now that I've just picked up my second Ego (650 mah pass-through), the little 510's are pretty much forgotten.
I think your idea of making sure you get fully stocked in juice right away is smart. I've completely given up on the little cartridges and completely switched to either tanks or dripping. I've been through about 5 Stardust/Clearomizer and the first 3 have all started leaking like crazy. While the bad part is that I've gone through a ton of juice, the good part of that is that I'm discovering the wonderful world of juice and how much fun it is to try different stuff!
So, what I would really advise is to get a decent Ego set-up with plenty of juice, and then be prepared to keep researching and having fun with it. Good luck and I hope to hear more from your experience!

Even though my original post never saved this is pretty much what I was saying anyway. The ego is great especially with low res cart/attys.

WOW! Take a breathe and relax. I know that your birthday is coming up, and it would make an excellent quitting anniversary, but if it happens a week after then that's great also. The most important thing is that it DOES happen. Hopefully the people close to you will educate themselves and see that this is much better than smoking. This board can be your crutch if you don't find support elsewhere.

I think you are on the right track and have came to some realizations that are uncommon for newbies. It shows how much time and research you have dedicated already. With that being said, I think choosing a PV that you will be happy with is a matter of taste. It is you that needs to be happy with it in order to successfully quit. I can share a few opinions and (hopefully) make your choice easier.

You mentioned the Ego's and Kgo's. If you end up going that route then I would suggest getting one with variable voltage. Like the Ego Twist or whatever the Kgo equivalent is. If you are open to a larger device like a Provari or Lava Tube then I would suggest going that way. Higher cost initially but you will save on batteries in the long run.

Good luck!

Somewhere out there
I say get an Ego Twist some cartos and some ejuice. You can try other things down the road but a twist with cartos is great starting point. I still use my Twists alot and I have a Provari as well, but they are just so light and handy :) Good luck! Oh and stick with USA made juices, they just taste so much better! bnrk
