An eGo Twist with a mini nova tank would be an excellent starter. I have a top of the line ProVari but still use the two Twists I started with daily. They are just awesome! The mini nova's are super easy to use--just fill 'em up and vape. Altsmoke carries the Twist and mini nova's. The 1000 maH will last me a day. They make a smaller 650 mah as well. They are variable voltage which makes them very versatile. Just dial it to where it tastes good for you. I'm a firm believer in variable voltage.

Yep, this!
After three weeks of trial and error, this set up is what's working great for me.
2 eGo twists (maybe get one with the pass through so you can charge and vape at the same time)
2-4 mini vivi nova tanks (super easy, just fill up your tank and go!)
several replacement 2.4 ohm heads for the vivis
a charger
and you're good to go! I think you could get all of it at Got Vapes (they have a great price on the Vivi Novas) and you'd probably come in under $150 including your juices (although I'd recommend looking through the ejuice forum here and ordering your juices through a different supplier... good juice will make a world of difference in your vaping happiness).
much good luck!

YUP! Agree with Spicy and Wonderland!

If I had to do it all over again, that's exactly what I would buy.

Except in her case, I would get (2) 650mAH Joyetech Ego Twists, and probably (1) 1000mAH (kinda baton-like long) for the long drive, because it will last and it won't matter that it's kinda long since she won't be carrying it around.

Everyone needs a 3rd battery anyway, IMHO, since if one of your other one goes.........

Maybe pick up a box of cartomizers as well, just to see if you like those better than a tank like the vivi nova.

Go to Top 5 Vendors, and order some juice that other people seem to like........when new, best to go with the masses. :)

MelissAnn, you're gonna do JUST FINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing I suggest to newbies and which helped ME, I stopped buying packs of analogs completely, a month before I quit. I just forced myself to buy tobacco and papers and roll. That really slowed me down. First month of vaping, I still rolled one, sometimes 2, per day. Sometimes just 1 a week. Then I just stopped that, too. Plucking an analog out of a pack is just too...........easy.

Also, if you have a brick and mortar store near you, you can always check out the styles, sizes, etc of all the e-cig stuff that's out there. You may find you like the eGo batteries, but, the smaller one you may like more than the larger one. It helps to get the feel of something, like an e-cig. IMO, there should be more brick and mortar stores, so people can get the look and the feel of e-cigs. To me, just to get something online without even seeing it in person is a weird concept to me. Would you buy a car or a house without seeing it in person? Again, that's just me.

One thing you could do, if you are still overwhelmed and having trouble making a decision, is to go to a Walgreens and buy a blu disposable. I've read that the blu disposables are fairly okay (I've also read warnings to stay away from the blu kits, just to mention that). Supposedly Walmart alas has mystics that also get decent reviews (for what they are).

If you get a cheap disposable you might be able to get an idea of what you like and don't like about those. That might help you narrow down what you are looking for in a true starter kit.

Many (most?) do not end up staying with their first kit forever, so don't feel like the kit you get now has to be the end all be all of your vaping experience. That can help take some of the pressure off this decision. You do not have to find the perfect set up for your first kit. You will probably end up spending a bit more than what cigarettes are costing you in the beginning, but once you get the beginner kinks out of the way you can save tons of money. In the past year of not smoking I've saved... Oh... A lot. Probably $1000s of dollars, and that's including the purchase of several kits.

Oh, and go ahead and get used to the idea that you are going to be making multiple purchases from different vendors. As someone said above, it's tempting to want to order juice and hardware from the same company to save on shipping, but the vendors who specalize in hardware don't necessarily have the best juice and vice versa.
Good luck!

I would highly recommend a Kgo or Ego twist. There is even a VV Kgo now which I haven't personally tried but have heard great things. Someone recommended an Inferno which may be an OK option but Volcano is just so overpriced. Hoosierecigsupply does sell juice. Maybe you just missed it. The juice is pretty good and Brent is a great guy to buy from. My first PV was an Ego and them a Kgo and the Kgo was much better as well as cheaper. It had more power and was much more satisfying. I was a PAD smoker for 20 years and never thought I would quit but ecigs were a savior to me. Congrats on finding vaping and there are a tone of friendly people here to help if you have any questions. Don't hesitate to ask. :)

I ordered a kGo 1100mah starter kit from Hoosier e cig. If you look on their site they do sell USA made juice. Before I could get the kGo I found a brick and mortar shop so I went there. I bought a eGo C twist. Both kits come with 2 batteries. If you gonna go with cartos I suggest checking out vaporbeast.com, You can find boge LR (2.0ohms) 15 of them for 19.99 and free shipping. Before I started vaping I was a 2-3 pack a day smoker. After 10 days of vaping I still got half a carton of analogs left that I had bought over a week ago. I don't think that's to bad going from over 2 cartons a week down to less than half a carton. I've learned from this fantastic forum not to set a specific date to quit but let it happen when it does. Finding just the right juice is the hardest part. Keep with the forum. You'll find different vendors and lots of advice. Good luck with your new journey.

I've tried e-cigs in the past from companies like totally wicked that, due to quality or lack thereof, pushed me back towards analogs. I wanted to get back to vaping and put the analogs down for good, but I always seemed to have a reason to put it on the backburner. That was until my son was born. Now I'll spend as much as I have to to ensure I stay off analogs permanently!

I began doing a lot of research here on this very site into the different product lines, mods, juices, tanks etc. This place is a wealth of information that you can never stop learning from. Youtube is also a great source.

I now own a provari, 2 silver bullets, and I just purchased 4 ego twist batteries at 1000mah so I can be a bit more mobile. Also, I always wanted to have a backup on hand, and you'll learn that backups for backups is better than not having backups as all. Again, anything to keep you away from analogs.

The main thing is not to allow yourself to get frustrated, as easy as that may sound. Read, watch videos, ask questions and soon you'll get the idea of what's what. The Ego twist would be a terrific starting point, and as your experience/knowledge increases, you can experiment with other mods to fit what works best for you and your lifestyle.

Good luck!

It sounds like you've really researched, and have a good grasp of everything. With the amount that you drive I'd be remiss if I didn't chime in about the glory of bottom fed PV's. In the car you need something you don't have to fiddle with, and the bottom feeders are where it's at. Refilling cartos in the car just doesn't work. They have a long battery life, and a kit will bring you in far under your $200 budget.

Here's the section on the forum that talks about them:
Liquid Feed APV Discussion

It's your first purchase- I recommend not blowing your entire budget on a kit. There will be things you like and don't like about your ecig- start smallish and go from there. You may be happy with a tank system, but if you want something extremely pocket friendly, and great for the car a bottom feeder is a good bet.

Good luck!!!!

Thank you. Okay I will give up the one supplier fits all idea! Also I have vaped logic and some other brand from my local convienence store so I know I like it and kinda got a sense for how it feels. WHat I hated about it was that I had no idea when I was out of nicotine in them? I tried to keep track of the number of puffs I had that would equal the carton it said it would equal but I wasnt sure and when I got fidgety I went back to analogs because I just didnt want to take a chance I wasnt getting my fix. However, that was then and this is now and I beleive I will be able to tell from the burning taste?

I am guessing a VV is a variable voltage and what I think that has to do with is ultimately saving battery by adjusting the voltage up or down depending on how I like to inhale and for how long. By having a vv I save battery and also set my inhaling preferences. Please correct me if I am wrong.

ANd I am sorry everyone ya'll are right - hoosier has juice but I didnt realize you had to pick your flavor from the drop down box. WHen I saw that plain white tube sitting there I figured that they only sold plain (hey what do I know!) The other websites make all those flavors so graphically splashy! :)

Im feeling good about the ego twist, those mini nova things (which idk what they are but I THINK i kinda get it).

utube is blocked at work so I have to wait till I get home to watch videos.

Okay so since I am so tangled up I was going to ignore your post :) simply becasue after learnign about 3 piece, 2 piece, carts, attys I just couldnt take learning about yet ANOTHER new thing. BUT! against my better judgement I looked at the bottom feeders and I have to say...from what I read already ----- i like them and have NO idea why the skinny sticks of 510s are still popular when you can just hook that box up?!

I will keep reading - but thanks (or not!) for the insight :)

If you want to vape at work get an eGo Joyetech passthrough. You can connect it to your pc usb port and not have to worry about running out of battery. If you don't want to fiddle around refilling cartos or cartridges throughout the day, then get yourself a tank with a cartomizer, or a Vivi Nova. I personally prefer the Valley View Vapes tanks: Welcome to Valley View Vapes - Your Home for Quality Inexpensive Tanks and Vaping Supplies.

They sell the cartos and will punch them and test them for you for $1. They will certainly last you through your 2 hour drive back and forth.

Good luck with your decision, enjoy the journey.

Variable Voltage (V V) will give you much more flexibility. It will eliminate worries about Ohm's because you can adjust the power going to your tank or carto. Also different juices taste better at different voltages. I like tobacco flavour at around 4.0-4.2 and my Banana Chocolate at 5 volts. These voltages are with a 2.8 Ohm coil, they would be lower with say a 1.8 Ohm coil. It probably won't help with battery life (may even make it worse).

Oh and I drive 2 hours to work, 2 hours home, Usually during that drive I smoke 6 cigs. I mention it because I think I can just keep it on the charger and take it off when I want to smoke. I mentioned it since I think thats a plus since I have access to charging.

A quick note on chargers: Some chargers require you to screw the battery contacts into the charger. This is the case with the eGo Twist. I love it. I like the variable voltage. However, you may not want to deal with that when driving. You would have to unscrew the juice container, screw the battery on to the charger, and hook it up. Of course, hooking up a micro USB without looking is a bit fiddly as well.

If you have something that is easy to hook up and fairly leak proof like a Vision Vivi Nova tank, then swapping batteries while driving may not be too hard. I don't think I'd want to have to deal with hooking up the charger and leaning over to my power outlet to hook it up. I have one outlet on the passenger side and another in the center console. Fiddling with either of those would likely take my eyes and attention off the road. I do have three 1000 mah (miliamp hour) batteries, though, so I've never had to do that. I also have a shorter drive and I'm not a particularly heavy vaper. I can go days on those three batteries.

I've heard people estimate the 100 mah == 1 hour of vape time. I would think a single 1000 mah battery should get you through your drive. Always good to have at least one spare. They don't last forever and you don't want to be caught out having to wait several days for a replacement when you're trying to get off the stinkies.

Good luck!

Hi MelissaAnn,

I just wanted to chime in om my experiences. I know exactly where you're comming from. I used to be a full flavor menthol as well. I worked at a auto performance shop and everyone smoked and smoked a lot. When I first started vaping I bought a 510 tank(leaky) non-manual battery kit and dozens of sample juice. After only one week I went back to analogs. Nothing was doing the trick. Flavors were too fruity, too sweet, too soft and air-y... I was the type who cannot smoke light cigarettes.
After about 5 more months of analogs I just one day went out and bought 2 Ego batteries -1000mah and 650mah and a 5pack of boge cartomizers. Filled it up with 26mg of Dekang ry4 and that was it. To my surprise it felt like I was smoking an analog, didn't taste like one, but felt like one. That was the key for me. I always try to tell other menthol smokers, it's the throat hit that's important. I now only vape Halo menthol ice 24mg of nic on the ego and a custom vv mod box I made.

Here's what I learned:
Ego batt 1000mah will last me a day of vaping around the shop. No variable voltage. Easy to charge and small enough to pocket. 6 straight months of vaping and still going.
Cartomizers made by boge in the white with black stripe box. With fairly thin juice, one cartomizer will last almost a month. Good flavor and throat hit.
Variable voltage- I was happy with the basic ego battery and cartomizer until I made my own vv box, now, I will never run a single voltage battery ever again. The flavor is just so much better even at .3 volts higher. My cravings are completely satisfied and the troat hit is amazing.

So here are my suggestions:
A vv of any kind, spend the extra cash on it, it's worth it
Halo liquid- because the other menthol liquids I tried were too thick and not enough menthol flavor
Boge cartomizers 5pk and tank(the clear tube ones) easy to refill and no leaks

This is also the cheapest route I have found.

Good luck I hope you the best we all know how hard it is.

Okay so today is my second full day of no smoking and I may be having a break down, Im trying so hard to stay clear focused and choose but without my nicotine I am having touble concentrating and focusing and I feel liek death/ I went and bought strange rechargeable ecigs, they suck, no vapor and they taste awful and they arent strong at all. I also dont like that they are small like cigarettes, I want to be far away from that. I want them to be bigger! Augggggh. (sorry to complain) Not the best time to be doing this but whatever!!! I love your suggestions, I keep trying to pick a kit from cignot but all the information is running together.

So I want this as you said it:
So here are my suggestions:

The vv is the twist right? I want the boge (those are prefilled cartomizers and refillable i think) and the clear tanks - also called the clearmoziers? and the brand names are mini novas and stargazers or stardusters i think, yes thats exactly what i want a vv twist thing prefilled yet refillable cartridge things and a clear tank with a wick that seems to be what i will love.

Now trying to find that in a kit on cigmnot MAY be the death of me. I wrote viki their customer service personmany times and she has helped for two days but I asked her to just please pick stuff out for me and i wil hand over my credit card and my first born if we can just get it done today and shipped today. i REFUSE to go back to analogs. REFUSE. reeeeeeefuse. Im just waiting for her to get back to me and supressing my urgent desire to send her another email hurrying her! :)

IF ANYONE knows of kit or piece meal place to order what i need and get it quickly, please, please let me know.

Here's so hardware info to help:
Different delivery systems:

atomizer/ atty- an element on to which 3-4 drops of juice is dripped- generally used to test new juices- easy to clean.

cartridge/ cart- a container with sponge (filled with juice) that is used with the atty- juice drips on to atty from cart and is vaporized- old "tank" system and prone to leaks

cartomizer/ carto- metal tube with stuffing and element- Boge and Smok Tech are the two leading brands. Can be bought in 1 ml and larger

carto+tank- a carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates carto by way of hole in carto.

Clearomizer- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing. Rebuildables clearos are cheaply and easily repaired after heads (wick+ coil) fails. Simply unscrew old head and screw in new head- takes 10 secs. Major brands are Stardust and Vivi Nova- smaller tank is Mini Vivi Nova. My heads are lasting about 3- 4 weeks BUT I wash and dry burn them every few days- simple process.

that is great info! I have been wondering if there is a way to test Juices easier because filling up a cart, finding out the juice is horrible and then having to wash out the carto or the tank can take time, Dont Atty's have fiber in them like a cart?

I am bia, I would go with the Ego, from V4L, as that is the first company I started with, I get the PLUMES of Vapor I love, and not the size of a analogue and I have my 3.5 tank, and I am in  just my
