Get a dripper build above 1.2 ohms stick a cotton wick in there juice up n go.
Watch some YouTube videos on building and you should be set.
You don't need a mech to drip. Is it better? Yes, I only drip (or squonk) purely on mechs but you can drip on regulated mods. Just try dripping on the regulated and be sure its for you before you go mech.

Had a weak little vapor4life vapor Zeus battery for a year and a half while I continued to smoke cigarettes.
Upgraded not long ago to an origin mech mod with a kayfun clone, some kanger pro tanks and the cheapest rda I thought was decent, and i was able to quit smoking and have since discovered the need for new juice to keep me interested. And I have only recently discovered the luxury that is..five pawns.
I'd like to start dripping too but I find the responses here to read like Martian. I'm too much of a n00b to understand what to do. Are there any threads that spell out good dripping equipment and techniques in the most simplistic way? I don't understand all the shorthand and abbreviations.
I've been vaping (not dripping) for 3 months but until a couple of days ago it has been in uninformed ignorance. I just have Kanger EVODs and I put juce in the tank and I vape and it tastes good and I'm happy. I recently purchased a bunch of juices and I want to sample them so I can decide what to fill a couple of tanks with. I don't want to get coils all gunked up just to sample a few juices so I think dripping would be the best method. I don't think I can drip with my current equipment. I have money, but don't want to be stupid and get more of a dripping rig than is honestly necessary. I do buy good juice so I don't want to ruin the experience. Where do I start?

It really depends on what MOD and Batteries you are currently using. What is your current setup and I can give you more precise info!
I have a VTR (which I love, by the way) and would like to start dripping. Could anyone recommend a setup? I've only been vaping for 3 weeks so still kind of a noob lol
Pick yourself up some 28g Kanthal and some Organic cotton from amazon. As far as an RDA that is personal preference but if you prefer the more simple look you can get something like an IGO-W which is a 20mm RDA and fits teh VTR 510 extension perfectly (I have a VTR as well) that is ultra clean or you can go for a more intense looking rda (subjective obviously) like a Trident. I would recommend starting with a clone and if you decide you like Dripping you can step into the higher quality genuine (and higher priced) RDA's if you choose. Be damn sure you get an RDA that has POST HOLES with screws (some use a micro allen key which is a pain in the ...) and not an RDA that requires you to wrap the coil lead around the screw. They are more finicky to get wrap neatly and get a solid connection As far as wrapping the coils you can check out RIP Trippers on youtube he has a TON of coil build videos. I would also recommend getting some tweezers, finger nail clipper or small wire cutters and have at it.
Edit - I would also add to keep your ohm rating above 1ohm on the VTR. Anything around the ohm limit on the VTR (which I think is .7 or .8 ohm) starts to heat up really slowly and requires you to pulse the fire button to get it REALLY hot for better vapor.

I use my MVP 2.0 and a little cheapie RDA I picked up from Totally Wicked E-Liquid for 3 bucks. This has let me figure some thins out about coil building. I was not ready for sub ohming and a mech mod. The fear of exploding batteries and the like. I personally don't feel a need to sub ohm. I do feel the need to buy a better RDA but now I have the experience to make a better choice.
