Hi Ameera, Good Luck and stay strong. Like you I tried every way to quit many times (Chantrix made me feel crazier than I normally am). I bought my first e-cig 2 years ago, played with it a bit, then let it collect dust until last week. I picked it back up last Monday and just told myself that I am done with analogs and if necessary I will glue this thing to my mouth. I have not had an analog since then (and didn't even need to glue the ecig)

You can do it!!

I am now on a mad clothes washing rush because everything smells like analogs, ewwwwww.
This was me two weeks ago! I am enjoying it much more this time around, maybe it's the mindset. At least til I got this stupid head cold, but I know it will pass. At least I can still taste it a little :(

Ween yourself off of em...It took me 2 weeks from when I got my first true workhorse vaping rig Totally Wicked Tornado RCS to when I actually "left the pack at home"
My wife still smokes analogs but has cut back from a pack a day to maybe 4 or 5, one day she will be off of em

Don't fret...you have been smoking 30 years...this will help you finally quit

Welcome and Vape On!!!

I knew I needed to quit the analogs but just couldn't quite get there...when my little girl told me she didnt want me to die from smoking, it gave me the extra push I needed to do something to stop....kids can be a powerful thing....

my kids have been bugging me to quit as well. and have done some for short periods of my life
now with vaping... i have a nice replacement, and it doesn't taste bad like nicorette

Wow!!! Thanks to everyone for the votes of confidence and the words of inspiration! I am interested in hearing more about the vape meet in Minneapolis. That is only a little over an hour from where I live. With so many people here that have gone the vaping route and never looked back, I do feel like I am "home" or at least in a home where I want to belong. My family has no idea I plan on quitting this week. I figure why get them all worked up if it becomes a huge failure... which I really, really don't want to have happen!! And WHEN I do quit, won't everyone be surprised!! :)

Any words of advice on what type of equipment I should go with first time 'round? Something easy to fill, less likely to leak, small enough to take with me everywhere... you all know what I mean. I will undoubtedly be relying on it quite heavily in the beginning. I had planned on going today, but thought I would ask some of you what you recommend.

Anyway, A HUGE thank you to all who inspire me to fulfill my quest for my very own "I QUIT Banner!!!"

Here are 2 really good starter kits. They both come with 2 batteries but the one from VapeDudes comes with 3 10 ml bottles of juice and are 1000 mah batteries. The other one does have the Ce5 clearos instead of the Ce4, the difference is the Ce5 you can change out the head so you don't have to buy a completely new clearo, but I would recommend getting some evod atomizers instead of the ce style anyways.

DV eGo-T Starter Kit - Stainless - 900mah

Good luck!

Welcome aboard! I'm new here myself and this forum has been a HUGE help for me, as I'm sure they will be for you as well. I actually never intended to fully quit, it just kinda happened. Once I started vaping, I just didn't have the desire to go back to analogs. I was able to quit analogs entirely starting the very first day of using an e-cig after smoking for 27 years. You have made an AMAZING decision and I wish you the best! :2cool:

You have made an amazing decision, and children can be powerful motivators!

Welcome and good luck, and I hope you enjoy your journey very much so. Just remember you want to, and then you can. And I hope you don't run into too many nay-sayers... If you do, come here. This forum has been amazingly supportive and helped me through my first rough patch. (Still waiting for the second...)

The first day I realized I had forgotten to smoke... Wow. When my husband pointed out that it had actually been three days since lighting up... Priceless!

The best advice I can give you is, don't be too hard on yourself in the beginning. Many people pick up vaping and never touch another analog, others use vaping to cut down the number of smokes they have, in the end it's not about how many cigarettes you have but how many you don't have. Each time you don't have a cigarette, it's a little victory.

As for equipment, you'll probably want to start off with an ego kit. Ego refers to the threading on the battery, the batteries come in a number of sizes but they're all about as fat as a marker/cigar and they'll give you a good amount of time between recharges and can fit a bunch of different attachments. Get two batteries at least, so you can use one while the other charges. The other part you need is what holds the juice. I'd suggest trying out a few different clearomizers and/or cartomizers if the store has them. There's a lot of choices and many people like different ones for different reasons.

I was a hardcore smoker. It took me 3 months of vaping and smoking until I quit, and this was using 24mg juice. I smoked for 32 years and was so f-ing jealous of new people who could quit on day one. When vaping I cut my cig intake down to half a day, then a quarter. When I had my last cigarette I didn't even know it at the time. Just decided to pass the store and take one day at a time. Now 60 some odd days later I am smoke free and feel fantastic. You gain so much from quitting you'll be amazed.

I wouldn't go to a b&m to get your gear to start. There are some good ones, but most have many knockoffs and crappy juice and charge a premium price. I haven't read through the entire thread yet, just wanted to post a little encouragement before I hit the sack tonight. Tons of great advice here and just look at the cigs you don't smoke as a win in the beginning. Find juice and gear that works well for you and a little will power goes a long way. Good luck. I thought I would never ever quit, but vaping has made it easier cause I feel like I'm still smoking (without feeling crappy anymore).

Hey, and welcome.
Only advice I can give is to buy the right gear the 1st time. I bought a cigarette look alike twisp early 2000's and left it after a day. a few months ago, I tried the ego with T2 tanks, and finally had success. I'm now on a SVD.
In the meantime, I've purchased a Kanger evod kit for my oldman that has also smoked for 35+ years, and he had success on the 1st day.
Good Luck.

I tried Chantix too, it didn't work for me. I took it as directed and ended up with sleepless nights, a dry mouth, weird dreams and guess what, I still smoked even though they tasted awful. I thought if I still needed to have a cigarette with them tasting like crap I was must be a hopeless case. I started vaping less than a month ago and I can't believe it, but I like it WAY better than analogs. At first I missed all the associated things with having a regular analog, like the ecig wasn't as light in my hands and I couldn't hold it the way I used to, like analog in one hand, coffee or soda in the other, things like that, but I got past that fairly quickly. I used to never smoke without coffee, soda or some other drink to go with it. I think this was to wash away the smoke taste, in retrospect, because while vaping I don't need or want something to drink except maybe an occasional drink of water. As a result I don't drink soda anymore either! Still like my coffee but now I have one cup in the morning and that's it, instead of 3-4 cups during the day. I quit smoking in the house years ago and so I went outside in the rain, sleet, snow and in blasting heat. I've taken my laptop outside too, just to smoke and have swatted away bugs and stuff too. I could go on and on about this. I'm so glad I found this and I wish the best for you too. Good luck!
