Hi everyone, I hope I can get some advice from you guys. Last year I tried e cigs and it was the best thing ever, seriously I couldn't smoke another analog again, they tasted harsh, I was so happy. Then something went wrong 2 weeks in and the bad taste ended up ruining the whole experience. Even when everything was replaced, the experience was never the same again. The model was the Joye 550 I think.

Anyways, it just became too much of a hassle taking care of it and not messing it up or having bad tastes (I don't handle weird tastes that well) so I went back to Newports.

Now I want to give this another try because cigs are almost $10/pack and I smoke 1 pack/day. Its eating away on my wallet, but more importantly my health. So I want to give it another try, but this time with a more "premium" model, something that doesn't require too much maintenance and very easy to use, doesn't require much cleaning, replacing, etc. My friend let me try some of the disposable ecigs from the mall kiosks and they were awesome. I want something like that, would there be such a product? Preferably a starter kit sub $80-$100 and liquid costs of ~$20-$30 bucks/month.

I'm fairly new to vaping and the whole e-cig experience. I bought a 510 kit and I MUST say it is awesome. In regards to cleaning and and experimenting with different juices etc. I don't find it to be a hassle at all, sure it may not be as easy as lighting a cigarette. But the whole idea of controlling what goes into your body and just having fun instead of regretting each drag you take from an analog makes the whole idea that much better. But from what I've read on the forums the eGO T seems to be the best bet..long battery etc etc..

I can't comment on the e-liquid selection, but you might want to try a kr808d-1 this time (last time you most likely had a Joye 510). I hear the pre-filled cartos are good too. And the battery will last a bit longer than your old Joye 510 too.

I think you probably let your atomizers go dry or they gummed up or something that gave you the bad taste, who knows? I would keep at it and if you spend a little more money to stay off the cancer sticks it's worth it. You may want o try the eGo, regular kit or eGo tank system from the vendors, like cignot, Litecigsusa, and many others or move up to the reo grand, or Provari. Keep your atomizers moist, they are made to be moist, try different juices and don't give up! good luck

A low maintenance starter option would be a KR808 kit and just buy and throw away cartos. Get an auto and all you have to do is suck. Make sure to get a couple batteries to start and several cartos of different flavors. The nice thing about a carto is when it's empty just toss it and screw on another. You get a new atty every time. Once you get more into it, you can clean and refill the cartos and get a little extra life out of them.

Then if you get the urge to really play around, there are endless options.

What do you mean exactly by "too much of a hassle" What parts of vaping hassle you? I know my first kit leaked bad and required regular cleaning along with regular e juice refills and keeping bottles of liquid and napkins with me. I bought a new unit and now I just dealing with refilling the juice and it is doable. I still have to remember to recharge and keep a back up atomizer or two around but that is worth avoiding regular smokes. I have just taken the step up to a box mod so I can eliminate the napkins and e juice refills but it was a pricey upgrade. Maybe if you can pinpoint the things you are and are not willing to deal with the recommendations we could all give would could be more specific to what you want to know.

You need to pay attention to your atomizer and have spares. If the atty gets too hot it can singe its wick under the bridge. If it gets too gunked up with juice it can start to taste bad. Carts get crappy too - when the cart stuffing stops working well you can try replacing the stuffing with precut blue foam stuffing for 510 from strictlyejuice.com. Then you fill the cart 1/2 way with juice, insert the blue stuffing, push down into the juice, reposition at the top and if needed top off with a couple of drops. The top off when it needs it. if your atty is getting to hot or not giving good vapor, you check the cart.

And always push on and pull off. never twist or it can damage the atty

You could swap attys weekly and soak the other in near-boiling water or alcohol to try to get residue off, then let it dry totally

I actually enjoy cartos on 510 - I am using these soft-cap cartos and can get about a week out of one, less if it I use it alot

As far as not having "hassles", near as I can tell it doesn't exist in the world of vaping.

I liken using my e-vaper (I like this term better than e-cig and "personal vaporizer" just brings to mind summer colds and a noisy humming thing mom put by my bed ), to the days that cigarette smoking was solely "roll-your-own". We got spoiled by the ease of buying a pack of smokes, stripping the plastic, and our only hassle was when the bic (or in my case my zippo) ran out of fluid at 2am. The introduction of pre-rolled cigs led to an ease that increased smoking ALOT. It also led to many of the chemicals that were killing us as smokers, since fresh tobacco doesn't have most of the poisons packaged smokes have in them today.

If you've never rolled your own smokes, you can't understand the "hassles" of carrying a poke with tobacco, papers, etc...having to assemble your cigarette before you can enjoy it, yadda yadda yadda...but this routine soon becomes standard to you, and is actually an enjoyable ritual for your satisfying smoke.

Same with Vaping.

Care of equipment (getting good paper/pulls/leaves for rolling), making sure your carts/cartos/tanks are filled properly (making sure you shred and prepare your tobacco), finding that "right" unit or e-juice (finding the right tobacco flavor/quality)...it's all very similar. I'm a tech. freak so it's even more fun for me.

The downside to vaping for many is the care and thought you have to put in to it. It's NEVER going to be as easy as when we smoked packaged cigarettes. But the health and financial benefits (once you actually get what you need and dedicate to it) FAR outweigh the cons.

In the end - Smoking is easy...but so is dying.

As far as a unit? The Kr808 type is what I started with, it's very similar to a cigarette in size and feel...but I quickly have moved to a Inferno with a tank set-up. Truly though, the options are limitless.

when I first started I was always taking my ego apart and cleaning it all the time turns out I don't need to unless I am changing juice I was making it much harder than I needed to now all I do is charge it

The biggest hassle I've found with e-cigs is having to keep a stock of everything I need as you can't pick up a bottle of juice at the corner gas-station. But once you have a sufficient stock, replenishing is fairly easy. When you started smoking did you ever burn your fingers trying to light a match? Vaping has a learning curve, but does get much easier the longer you do it.

As far as finding a model that suits you, the KR808 with cartos are a good bet. And as far as costs go, you can set yourself up for the cost of a carton of smokes. At the cost of smokes, you can almost buy a new model every week to try something different and still not spend as much. $10 a pack, $100 a carton, doesn't take long to set fire to a Benjamin.

Thanks! To extend the comparison, one could think of "tanking" as having the convenience of packaged, and dripping as having the comparable hassle, but much more satisfying result of rolling your own.

I remember my grandfather rolling his own but he was so practiced that he made it look easy. I haven't started e-cigs yet, I am still in the information gathering stage and bogged down because there is TOO much of it! One hassle I have had is trying to keep all the numbers straight. I started out 3 months ago with a "mall cig", and paid way too much. But that's ok, because I haven't had a real cig since. I have since bought a Vapor4Life Shorty kit. It's pretty close to the size of a real cig. At first, all that I wanted was tobacco flavor...but now that I have adjusted to vaping vs. smoking, I have tried a lot of different flavors. My go to is a chocolate/coffee flavor.
This kit is really simple to use. It's a 2 peice system, the atomizers are built in to the cartridge (now called cartomizers), so when it's done, you just throw it away (or refill, if you decide to buy liquids as well) and screw another one in. The biggest thing for me is to make sure that I have a supply of cartos in flavors that I like. I would hate to run out!!

The "hassle" will turn into a "hobby" as time passes. I got a MAP tank, and it holds 5 ml a fluid, and is really a fantastic device. But I have nothing to do now..... nothing to piddle with..... it is actually quite sad. I'll grab a drip tip and just drip away while I stare at the MAP tank on the desk.

considering that you smoke newports I'm surprised you thought it was harsh. You can buy lower strengths if you want it to be less harsh. thehouseofvapor offers some pretty good flavors and its pretty cheap. I'm a heavy vaper and I can last a month on a little over 2 bottles at $5 for a 10ml bottle.

The other option if you liked the 510 kit is to use 510 cartos. I have been using the cartos from Liquid Xpress since November and loved it far more than messing with attys and carts. They're easy to refill, fairly inexpensive and have been far less of a hassle. I get my week to two weeks out of them and toss them. A ton of vendors carry them too, though I think the ones I use from LX are the Boge ones, so I can't speak about other brands

Thank you guys so much for all the great responses. I am leaning towards the ego and the kr808, although I've heard personal friends say they use Vapor King, how does that compare to the ego and kr808? Is it worth the higher price? I think prefilled disposable atty combos are a great idea (what are they called on the forum? Cartos?) so I can put my old one to use again (which is the Joye 510* btw). Battery is not too much of an issue because I am used to charging a bunch of crap every few hours anyway.

When I said harsh, I meant a weird metallic gag-inducing taste. I love harsh cigarettes like Newports, and I am looking for something with a very strong throat hit with easy pulling. I think i've realized now that I should avoid the liquids, more specifically taking care of the atty and topping it off because it causes way too much worry. I have ADD and I live at school, so I don't have much time to fiddle with things and I have trouble remembering/concentrating (like forgetting how many drops I put, or making proper estimates, etc) so I just wanted the simplest experience next to walking over to Hess and buying a pack and I think this disposable thing is the best option.

So does anyone have experience with a good site to get prefilled disposable attys that are close in effect to Newports (or Marlboro/Camel Menthols). Also should I stick with old Joye 510 or just get one of the three mentioned? Also what are these tank e cigs? Is it really as simple as it sounds? Just fill the tank and smoke? No other maintenance?

Vapor king is a kr808d-1, it's a two piece unit (battery + cartomizer) like you are looking for. Not sure which carto flavors to get for you, but someone else will chime in on that. Battery life is 3-5 hours. You can also buy similar units at vapor4life and bloog (bloog is supposed to be the best of the three, fwiw).

eGo is a 3 piece unit (battery + atomizer + cartridge), but CAN be used with 510 cartomizers (like the kr808) if you choose. The major advantage with eGo is battery size -- 6-10 hours.

cartomizer is what you are looking for; atomizer/cartridge in one, just screw it in and vape, toss it when you are done OR save money by refilling it (but you don't have to if you don't want to).
