I've only been here a few weeks. What has taken place in the last four days is.. well.. put your own words there. I don't want this to be a place for any of that, there are enough threads.

What I really want to know is.. what brought you here? To PIF? Why did you choose to participate in that first thread in PIF? Why did you choose to join the group? Let's get back to this thinking rather than continue to focus on what has been for a few days. I will tell you why I joined, if you tell me why you did!

I signed onto this forum because of a friend of my husbands. I would click on "new posts" and always see "Pay It Forward" in the forum column. I decided to take a peek at what group seemed to be the most active. Who knew it was a group of wonderful people with warm, huge hearts giving all they could to anyone in need? I surely didn't know there was still a LARGE group of people who did this.. just because they could. Because once upon a time, they didn't have the money to grab groceries, or fill their gas tank.. and someone helped them out.

The convincing thread, the one that lead me to think, "now this is a group I want to be a part of".. was someone asking for trust. (the someone asking isn't the point here). One person asked for trust to help out one other person. Not because they asked. But out of the goodness of their heart. In about two hours time, a group of people, not one, came together to make all the difference in another persons life. And not because they would get anything out of it. But because they could. They wanted one other person to sleep a little better, or worry about one less thing. This was most definitely something I wanted to be a part of.

It was an entire group of people that made this happen, and continue to make things happen. That story above was my reason. What was yours? (I would love it if it could stay on topic :D)

So... I want to know!! Tell me.. why Pay It Forward?

hi lilacs, i stumbled across this group in another part of the forum and i believe it was gooddog who either mentioned the group or whose signature caught my eye.
i have not participated all that much because i do have what i need and hardly any extras. but i really enjoyed watching the interactions and it felt just so comfortable. and yes, jules was a big part of this but there are others who are just as bighearted.
i so hope people will read your post and decide the purpose of this forum is so much more important than the individuals taking center stage at the moment.
jules was right when she posted, "i'm not pif, you are pif"
let's show jules how much we appreciate her by making pif a success, and carrying on in the way she showed us.

I stumbled in from elsewhere in the forum. I didn't (and still don't) Do much trading. I don't have a LOT that I thought was worth trading. But when I saw something I really wanted to try I offered up what I had and a PIF was made. It made me very happy, and every PIF I did after that made me feel good and fuzzy.

It looks like I am in the same boat as many of you! Not much to give but certainly willing to help another person out whenever you can.. 290 people in this group! So that makes.. what.. 285 more stories to go.. I still wanna know more, guys! And thank you all for sharing your stories! I love to read them whilst vaping this divine tasty fingers! (should've seen my daughters reaction when I told her what this one was called.. cringed her nose and said "do they taste like.. fingers?!?!" LoL.. sorry, got off topic, thought it was cute and had to share..

I joined after coming across a few posts that I couldn't respond to because I wasn't a member. I like the idea behind PIF because as I have experienced, some days you have more than enough to share and someone else may be in need. I have sent out a few PIFs and will continue to do so if I can help someone out.

I haven't been here long and really only have a slight understanding of all the drama yet from what I know this forum is like anything else, the majority often has to go through muck because of the actions of a few. Good will always prevail so I'm not too worried, once the dust settles we can keep on keeping on. In the meantime I am just trying to avoid all the negativity.

I joined because i love the idea of helping people. I like having a place we can come to and share supplies, stories and experiences. I like it when someone wants something and i just happen to have an extra sitting here that i can send and make their day. I believe the true spirit of the PIF is basically, giving something just to give.

this is why i joined i dont have a lot but there are others that dont have anything and if we act like a team each one giving what they can when they can for a good cause it works. and that is why i came here good harted caring people can brighten someones day...............

the pif trading was a way for everyone to try something new wether it be juice or a carto or a battery or what ever, and you were only asked that if you take an offer to post an offer of what you had and not feel guilty if what you offered wasnt a lot ..... others can add to your offer if it didn't move.

Now lets act like the team we want to be and help out each other and those that realy need it ....................with out asking whats in it for me or they got more than i did and pitch a fit about it !!!!!!!!!
lol............thats my 2 cents
and that is why i'm here

Your question made me think pretty hard. Why did I join?

I guess because it is just what I do. I watched my parents, not wealthy themselves but if they could help someone there was never any question about not doing it.

It is how a life should be lived.

It is ingrained in my upbringing and genetics I guess. There is never any thought to it, you just do it.

I never worry about being taken advantage of or what the person does with it, that doesn't matter to me.

What matters is that I live and act in a way that lets me sleep well at night and feel good about what I do .

I truly love bringing a smile to someone else. I don't have a lot either. But if I can help someone , well , you just do it.

I came in because I thought PIF stood for Psychotic Introverted Freaks, and then I realized they wouldn't start a group. Oh that so reminded me of Stephen Wright , one of the reasons I started doing stand up :p

I can't recall what lead me here but I began looking at the discussions and recognized people were walking the walk and then I was hooked.

Hmmm. I can't remember what brought me here the first time. That was all of 5 weeks ago, after all.:p

But I stumbled upon this folder and I read and read, couldn't believe that what it seemed like was happening was actually happening. People were giving their stuff to others! The mere mention of wanting to try something or a "where can I find a...?" and, in no time, someone was saying "I have one of those. PM me your addy and I'll send it to you."

I definitely wanted to be part of that! People were so generous that I made sure that the first couple of actions I took here were to give something (not trade or swap but give) just so that I'd feel like I was worthy to be part of this group.

GoodDog specifically was very kind and welcoming to me and I stayed. I've only participated in the PIF thread a couple of times but it is so much fun! I don't have a lot of hardware and when I first came I didn't have much of anything to give. But I've ordered juice (and now bottles for the 3rd time) just so that I could share it.

I left for a day or two...but an above and beyond kindness from SpiritAir made me decide to come back and pay that kindness forward in whatever way I can.

I was new and clueless. The michigan vapers forum was dead. There seemed to have a family-like comradery to the place. You guys all trusted each other enough to pool your moneys together on big orders without worrying about the person ripping you off. You all seemed to take the time to be helpful and showed compassion to one another.

I stopped smoking cigarettes to get over an addiction, not to gain one but it seems I've traded my addiction to smoking for reading and chatting with all of you wonderful people. At least this addiction won't kill me!

I was looking around in the classifieds section and checking the going rates for a bunch of juices I didn't like and wanted to sell. I saw the PIF thread and checked it out. I loved the concept of it so instead of selling my juice, I decided to give it away in the PIF thread. I've been here ever since.

Me too, oh, you mean it's not? :p

No, really I just thought that this forum was an ingenious idea that should have started a long time ago. So many juices, so little time & money, right? What a novel concept to get to try something out that you wouldn't normally buy or have wanted to try, or just be able to help a brotha or sista out?

I joined after looking through the PIF forum thinking wow what a superb idea! I would love to help others....I try to live with a PIF type of lifestyle...if i don't need it...give it away to somebody who does. I think if we all lived like this then the world would be a much better place!! Once i started looking through the forum and threads I began to think, wow I wouldn't ever have to look anywhere else on ECF all these people are so awesome, if i have questions...they have answers...they help anyone...I can help...if I need help im in the right spot....since then i very rarely even venture outside of PIF lol!

Well I was brought here by Jules. I posted a bunch of juice I did not like and she sent me a PM saying that if I did not have any luck to try PIF. So I checked it out and thought wow I spent so much money still do not have an everyday vape then I noticed people were trading stuff I thought ok cool I can try new stuff without going broke and other people can try what I have. Then when it moved to a social group I met so many friends and traded stories I love it here. However I miss Jules a lot she instantly made me feel like I had a home here on the ECF and it was in PIF
