Try here Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - LT VV LavaTube...there is a box at the top left of the website that you can click and you'll get 20% off! Pretty good deal. Also there is this Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Indulgence Same deal with the 20% off thing. (I don't work for LF, but do shop with them. Good vendor!! Great CS).

If you want to get a little more adventurous how about this? Variable Volt Gripper

Then there is this, too Segelei Variable Voltage Tube - Silver

I've used all these vendors and most of the products. Pretty good stuff...GREAT for the price!

madvapes has "the gripper" on sale for $49.99. Of course, you have to add batteries and a charger. But that would be true for most VV APVs.

MadVapes Gripper

I'll also endorse Liberty Flights. Great vendor, excellent merchandise with decent prices, superb customer service. Done a lot of business with them.

Lava tubes rock. This one is 44.99 free shipping in the US.

Lavatube VV MOD - vapeBIG

59.99 with the full kit. Might be worth it though because not all 18650 batteries will fit. I use trustfire blue 2500mah and they fit but you can't screw the cap on all the way so I put an O ring on. Works perfect anyway.

Is the gripper a good device?

The VV Gripper a great design but it is poorly built.
I got one because I was sick of my Lavatube sticking out of my pocket and being all around large for being out and about with a tank on it.
The Gripper's size and features are all close to everything you'd want but it's a fragile device.
I've had mine for about a month and within two weeks the 510 connection broke loose from how ever it is mounted, now the power button is getting funny and the flimsy battery door is not closing completely.
It still works and I'm using it right now because I like it so much but it's a shame that a perfectly pocket sized, variable voltage, 18650 all day powered device can't take the abuse of being in a pocket.
If you wanna try VV before spending big bucks I guess it's a pretty good candidate especially if you're going to be mostly using it around the house although a Lavatube is probably going to last you much longer. I would be wary of the Young June versions though since they have some serious issues with the quality of their 510 threading.
Just my :2c: based on my experiences.
My Reo Grand should be here tomorrow.

Apollo VTube Kit

Add the discount code on the main page, and it comes to about $30 for the kit, and it comes with a 1 year warranty.

They only have the mini, but you can get an extension tube so you can run 18650's for about $9

I got this one last Friday. It's my first VV mod, and I'm loving it. I was in the same boat as you and didn't want a box mod. Order this and a vivi nova 2.5, and you're good 2 go. I didn't need an ego adapter for the nova either. I just suggest getting the extender cap and the Panasonic 18650 for it too (flattop battery ONLY).
The atomizer that came with it is pretty cheap, but hey.. For the price on this full kit, I wasn't complaining. Two thumbs up from me. However, it would've been nicer if they didn't forget the rubber o-ring for the driptip included in the kit for me... -_-

+1 on the Robust, this is a lot in a small package. I've only had mine for a week, but so far I really like it.

Only drawback I've experienced so far is like any smaller PV, it doesn't dissipate heat well enough to use really low resistance dripping atomizers. I can assure you that the thermo protection ckt works well tho.

How is the build quality of the device itself? Is it the build quality of an eGo or one of the better tube mods? In other words, is it built to be durable enough to survive accidental drops or being out-and-about?

I was looking at one of these to use instead of using my full size Provari for out-and-about. I'd really prefer getting a Mini Provari, but there's the cost factor as usual. I've been using my Altsmoke BB mechanical mod (14500 battery) occassionally outside the house and often wish someone would build a VV device of its size. I have a Serenity Gear lanyard for it which makes it very convenient. So seeing the Robust spiked some curiosity in me.

Did you get the cubed shape or the round? How is the quality of the buttons?

I got the round. The tube is 16mm in diameter with a 1mm wall thickness. So plenty strong enough, and the fit and finish is outstanding. The + & - buttons are the same ole LT buttons. The power button is a vast improvement over anything L-Rider has put out before. It has the same spring loaded center pin as the SS and chrome L-Riders, and the juice well is deep enough to use a drip shield without an extension. The one thing I think it needs is a power on/off function.

It won't work as well as a Provari for wrapping someone over the head, but it seems to be built well enough for a normal level of abuse.

I would also note that pressing both the + & - buttons serves two functions. It will lock/unlock the voltage setting, and check battery voltage. So it takes a little getting use to for the function you want. (length of time you hold them down)

I would seriously consider the new Vamo. I don't have mine yet but they should be selling for around 50- 60.00 retail. They are VV/VW devices and you can use either a 18650 battery or a 18350. They don't have a complicated menu system and are easy to adjust. All the new mods are coming out with variable wattage and variable voltage modes so if you are going to get a new one you might as well go with the latest. I have a ZMax and I'm liking the Wattage mode more than the Voltage mode myself. The Vamo is much cheaper though and has been testing out real good in comparison to to the ZMax.
I just saw they have them here for 49.95. OKC Vapes - Oklahoma's Premier Supplier of Electronic Cigarettes, E-Liquid, and Accessories!
