juice is 100% VG but its not an all day vape, its more of a desert type that I use maybe twice a day. I just wanted to know if it was normal because I have been having good results from the iClear 16's for the last month and expected the same from the iClear 30's.

Desert vape = sweet. Higher sugars and darker juices will gunk up the coil pretty fast. I have an iClear 30 filled with a mix of Dutch Chocolate Mint and Chocolate Fudge Brownie. Makes for a nice fudgie, minty vape, but absolutely destroys coils. I have to do a rinse and dry burn at least every other tank, and I really should probably do it for every tank, but I'm lazy..... At the same time, I have some lighter fruit mixes that have gone through at least 7 or 8 tanks with no issues. I have cranked up the voltage a bit on those, but flavor and vapor are still pretty good! Maintenance is key. But as I type this, I think about the one tank I have neglected the most, yet it just won't give up!!! My first iClear 16... I've put about 60ml of Fireball through that thing with only 1 cleaning/dry burn. It's been 4 months now! The tank is yellowed and the bottom of the tip has deformed and mushroomed out a bit from the harsh juice, but that baby keeps on kickin'!!!!! I'm almost afraid to clean it again because it has gone on and on for so long!

Seating of the silicone top cap is probably the main gotcha. If not sitting right it can either pinch off the wicks causing dry hits or leave too much wick hole exposed which leads to flooding. Overfilling them is a definite no-no.
I pulled a coil head apart the centre hole insert extends quite high into it probably to cut down on gurgling and leaking through the connector.
As with all clearomizers make sure all the o-rings are present and properly seated, or leaking is inevitable. It's a pity the manufacturers don't sell replacement seal kits.

The one that I've used was fine for a about a week of steady use and then began leaking out of the bottom hole and spitting. I'm thinking that it's just the consistency of the wicks that once they've carboned up a little bit that they aren't keeping enough fluid held in the center coil portion of the wick to keep the rest of the fluid contained above the hole. I've had this happen in T3s from time to time.

I had a similar problem with mine as well. Not only was mine *leaking* but it ha what i can describe best as a "vacuum" effect. When I'd puff, it felt like it was trying to pull the air back out of my mouth. It was very difficult to puff on. In my case the issue was the atomizer head/cartomizer (forgive me if my terminology is wrong, I'm still a noob to vaping). It wasn't seating properly to the swivel drip tip. I took it to the smoke shop I purchased it from ( insert shameless plug for LiteCigUSA Williamsport PA store) and Amber cleaned it up, checked it out, and popped a new cartomizer head on it. Worked perfect afterwards. I'm definately concerned about it being plastic, but I have already purchased 3 UDCT's since I bought my MVP a week ago, so I *do* have a backup plan already in effect. Once it cracks, I will buy another UDCT and that will be the end of the i30 usage (so I don't need multiple cartomizers), or possibly a wire/wick rebuildable.

Re-coiling the iClear coil heads would be fiddly, but not impossible. The "legs" of the coils are quite long and have insulating sleeves on them to prevent short circuits. This sleeving could probably stand up to being re-used a couple of times.

My iClear 30 and 16's are still going well with no major hassles after a couple of months of being disassembled and cleaned every week. A new coil head once a month doesn't cost all that much and the flavour I get from them is way ahead of the other devices that I've tried so far.
I'd say that every clearomizer type will have some issues , it just takes time to get to know how to avoid those of your chosen clearo.:2c:

Currently waiting for a Vivi Nova 2ml. Having seen the videos showing how to re-build Vivi Nova heads they looked much easier. I was planning to try cutting slots to make a dual coil version, but saw the other day that somebody in China is already mass producing them with dual coils.
