They would have their mad scientists brewing up ejuices with whole tobacco alkaloids so newbies could vape the flavors they are accustomed to, not to mention loyal to.

If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Big T is going to try and come out on top by promoting laws to ban internet sales and restrict flavors. That way most of the competition is crushed right out the start. Then if people don't buy their crappy e-cigs, they will just buy normal cigs it's a win win for big T.

Even if net sales are not banned they will work to try and make sure the age verification software required is extremely cost prohibitive. Basically they will use laws to do the competing for them.

There are ways around this, selling flavor mixes separate from nic, and renaming them. Devices renamed and all of that, but still they could find more ways to cripple the vaping world.

They don't care if they come out on top of vaping, they just want to come out on top. No matter what it does to the vaping community or the people in it.

No, I agree with whosback
If BT really wants to come out on top, they will send people to help along legislation that will restrict vaping to the exact same laws as tobacco, try to get flavors banned and come out with their own versions that are made as Inexpensively as possible while overcharging for a crappy product. That way, people will go back to smoking.

Oh,wait... That all sounds very familiar....

And who do you think OWNS BT?
As far as I know, all large brand tobacco companies are subsidiaries of large pharma companies... But that could just be a superficial impression.

Ok. Edit to my last post. Not ALL cigarette brands are owned by big pharma. But looking at the two companies that try to help restrict vaping..
Marlboro is the largest selling brand of cigarettes in the world. It is made by Philip Morris USA
They also have :
BENSON & HEDGES
Parliament

Camel is a brand of cigarettes that was introduced by American company R.J. Reynolds Tobacco in the summer of 1913.
They also have:
CAPRI
Carlton
Doral
Dunhill
Kool
Pall Mall
Salem
Winston

I think that covers most of the top brands of cigarettes.

If big tobacco wanted to come out on top they'd drop prices on their current product and find ways to reduce the carcinogens in said product, and start off-shoot companies to handle ecig design and marketing, and start looking to the future for the products that will be in demand after the impending overall legalization of ......... (not that I partake, but its only a matter of time). BT is an example of an institution that is getting lost in a new age. It's happened to record labels, the movie industry, and many more. You'd think they'd have noticed by now thatold business models need new blood to continue into the future.

Please name a single tobacco company owned by a pharmaceutical company.

I just know the vaping world is making them shake in their boots. Could you imagine the revolt that would ensue if they did something devastating like only letting big pharma companies make juice? I'd march up to Washington myself! They want money and they want control, we can't let them have it!

I agree with this and would add they should distribute them in KR808D-1 cartomizers compatible with a large number of cigalikes. They wouldn't even have to get into the battery business but they could optionally partner (or buy) a company like SI. Partnering with gas-station/convenience stores like 7-11, Speedway, etc would get them an instant and popular distribution system.

Not that I have any love for them My opinion is they will not do any good with vaping They wont come out with cool mods or keep searching for the ultimate delivery system. At this time we face more of a threat from the the likes of Njoy and such they stand to gain the most threw internet and flavor bans.

They would use regulation to corner the market and are the ones whispering in the FDAs ear.

They have tremendous advantages in distribution, since they already distribute analogs to....well, everywhere.

The model so far from what I have seen is proprietary pre-filled carto delivery systems. This would lock out small juice distributors from the customers using BT hardware. It is an interesting strategy. The issue with it is that the PV market is beyond containment as far as I can tell. True, they may get some new customers who never stray, but eventually, one of those saps is gonna meet me in a bar with my ProVari filled with HHV or MOV juice, and they will see what they are missing.

All the while, BT is working to stack the regulations against an open market and funnel the regulations to their products, in the interest of safety (and protecting children, naturally). All in all, they regulation angle is one we must watch closely. I believe the proprietary hardware strategy is doomed unless their regulations force the market in that direction.

I'm a little more optimistic about the future.

First of all, I don't see how the devices that we use can be banned. Not one Joye, Kanger, SmokTech or Innokin starter kit contains a substance that's regulable by FDA.

FDA could attempt to ban online sales of flavored liquids, but that's unenforceable too. Vendors will adapt by simply sending you the ingredients and let you mix your flavors yourself. The ingredients used all have purposes other than vaping.

Restricting the sales of prefilled cartridges is the only thing that they could do that would actually stand up, and that's the only thing the tobacco companies have going right now.

I think most people agree that some regulation is needed. Restriction of sales to minors is acceptable, as is the requirement for the list of ingredients, child safe packaging, warning labels and periodic inspection of mixing labs. The small boutique vendors will probably undergo some consolidation, but the larger vendors will adapt and move on.

Vaping is not going anywhere. It may look different in a few years, but it's here to stay and so are we.
