That is amazing! That problem must be widespread because counselors have a huge turn over rate at just about every organization. It is sad because when dealing with addiction the counselors are so important to the patient and their ultimate outcome. It seems that most organizations do not value their counselors the way they should. I think that it is fantastic that you want to get into the administrative side- maybe you can make a real difference!
It really is a shame, Amber. There was a different set of unspoken rules for each house and each counselor. The sad thing is the head of the organization was really big on her belief of the kids needing structure but didn't carry it
through to the staff. Very frustrating and very disheartening. I loved those kids though, even the hardest to love were a lesson learned and a growing experience for me as a human being. Oh, some of the stories I could tell you...<3
