Hey folks,

This question has been bothering me for the LONGEST time. I've searched high and low on the internet and I can't find an answer to this question.

I was wondering. If my wife and I are trying to conceive and I create my own electronic cigarette vapor by JUST using Vegetable Glycerin, Food Coloring, and Water (and I don't use ANY nicotine) then is smoking the electronic cigarette still harmful in any way? Can this still harm sperm or is it unhealthy if trying to conceive? I know that smoking REAL cigarettes when trying to conceive is dangeous but how about electronic cigarettes with absolutely NO nicotine? What besides the nicotine in an electronic cigarettes can possibly be harmful? I assume there are studies currently being fone on Electronic Cigarettes. What besides nicotine is everyone sooo afraid of?

Thanks to anyone that can shed some light on my question. I REALLY can't find ANY answers on the internet regarding this question.

Thanks sooo much in advance once again! :)

We are not MDs here, and so cannot definitively answer this question, of course. That said, there is only one component of 0 nic juices that I am aware of that might be a risk, and that is if any ethanol has been added. Inhaled ethanol goes right into the lungs and bypasses normal gut liver metabolism. Some people add it to their juices to thin them, and some vendors add it to their juices. I am not aware of any other components that are a threat to the fetus. However, you mentioned food coloring. Food coloring in general should be avoided by everyone in vaping, but perhaps you meant food flavors, which should not be an issue. Neither should PG or VG, as they are in many many foods we eat, although vaping is not the same as eating.

But again, none of the "experts" in ATE are MDs. However, I would suggest posting this question to the Health and Safety forum.

As for "what everyone is afraid of", it seems the primary fear is govt and Big Pharma not getting their cut of the profits. The FDA has not been able to find anything in ecigs of any danger at the levels they they detect, and those compounds of concern are also present in NRTs like gums and lozenges.

And FYI: my nic lozenge box has no mention of warnings against pregnant women using them. And we all know how gratuitously warning-labeled all FDA approved OTC drugs are. So it seems the FDA does not think nic is harmful to fetuses. Of course, this would not apply to you anyway if you intend to use 0 nic juices.
